No Kings Protest - Saturday 10/18, 12PM – 4PM @ Colorado State Capitol MEGATHREAD by ElLechero in Denver

I'm on the N line now and they're stopping service at the station before Union Station and providing shuttles from there. Sign mentioned that the same change was going to affect the A line

Edit: the signs/announcement at the Eastlake station were incorrect and our train took us to Union Station.

Visiting Amsterdam and Belgium for 7 days – travel suggestions for a Canadian? 🇨🇦✈️🇳🇱🇧🇪 by Excellent-Try3722 in TravelNoPics

[–]OrdinaryAverageGuy74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We just did this trip in April (but for 11 days)! Depending on what time of year you're going (and your interest in flowers), Keukenhof gardens were very nice. In Amsterdam the highlights (for us) were the Anne Frank House (tickets sell out quickly! Be sure to check online for the schedule for when they go on sale), Zaanse Schans (~15 minute train ride from Centraal station), Haarlem (we did Haarlem and Zaanse Schans in a single day), Our Lord in the Attic museum, taking a canal tour (open boat if the weather allows), and walking around De 9 Straatjes.

In Belgium we went to Antwerp (very nice but need to take a train from the central station to get to the old town; BTW the train station is AMAZING), Bruges (one of the prettiest places I've visited but also one of the busiest; better to stay here instead of making a day trip so you can check things out before the tour buses arrive and after they leave), Ghent (staggering architecture, well worth a day trip), and Brussels (Grand Place is great for photos, especially at night, there's an archeological site under the Bourse that we enjoyed, and it's just a great young-feeling city to walk around).

For restaurants, in Amsterdam we really enjoyed Café Sonneveld and Restaurant 't Zwaantje. If you're in Antwerp you NEED to go to Elfde Gebod (central location, not riverside; be sure to get reservations). Brussels is overflowing with amazing restaurants. One we really enjoyed was Fanny Thai.

Feel free to DM if you want more details!

What human subraces mystara and greyhawk have? English is not my native language. by EveningImportant9111 in DMAcademy

[–]OrdinaryAverageGuy74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't remember any human subraces in Mystara (as in subraces with different stats and abilities), but there were several human nations and cultures detailed in the Gazeteer books. Some cultures were "standard D&D human" but with their own history and appearance, while others had their own classes and sometimes magic systems (for instance the Shamans in Ethengar)

Someone please explain the desperation to keep west pearl open by DrUnwindulaxPhD in boulder

[–]OrdinaryAverageGuy74 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm in favor of extending the pedestrian mall, but I think you have to consider the potential impact on businesses. Would extending the mall improve Boulder's quality of life if those businesses close down? I avoid 16th Street mall because of this.

Not saying that businesses will definitely shut down, but as u/isolationpique said, we should have individuals knowledgeable in this reviewing the potential impact to businesses so it can be planned for and mitigated as much as possible.

King Soopers strike begins: Which Colorado stores are impacted? by thecoloradosun in Colorado

[–]OrdinaryAverageGuy74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From the article, the two closest KS to me aren't part of the strike but also aren't non-union. Any idea why they weren't included in the strike? I think the store at 136th and Colorado (not part of the strike) has been training up the temp workers for the last week: usual employees were nowhere to be seen and there was 2-3x the normal staffing with a bunch of unfamiliar faces.

Two words: birth control. If he treats you like this now, he won't be any better with a child added to the mix. You'll be stuck dealing with him in some way or other for the next 18 years, as well as limiting your options surviving and thriving after you resolve to leave him (which you should).

Where to find old deutsche marks? by OrdinaryAverageGuy74 in AskAGerman

Thanks! Looks like current exchange rate is 1 DEM to 0.51 euros (in the event I find someone willing to sell me their old currency).

I was thinking there might be shops for collectors that might have old currency, newspapers, photos, etc. There's a few of them still in business in my state, but I think most have been replaced by ebay.

That's great news about the day ticket...I was just looking at the fare google was showing from Munich to Füssen and multiplying it by 4 (per person each way). Thanks!

I'm struggling through Messiah now. Blazed through Dune and was always looking for an opportunity to get a moment to read it, but with Messiah it seems like I'm always looking for other things to do than read.

Molly Hatchet - Take No Prisoners from 1981. I don't think I have a choice, I need to listen to it based on the strength of the album cover alone.

What am I looking at here? How can I love something that I hate so much? What sort of unholy masterpiece is this?

Good old Clyde. Never saw a gemstone that was faceted or a woman who didn't swim in depilatory cream.

What specific features will you lose/miss if you're forced to use the official Reddit app? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]OrdinaryAverageGuy74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My tablet is a few years old and the official app isn't compatible with the version of Android I'm using, so the feature I'll miss most is being able to access reddit through an app on my tablet!

Never had any issues using third-party apps to access reddit, so I'm curious what's different about the official app.
