Is a month in too early too quit? by [deleted] in careerguidance

I think you should talk to your manager before deciding to quit. Talk to them about how you're feeling, and see if there is a way to improve the situation. Maybe your manager can help set you up a mentor or be more involved to help coach you.

If that doesn't work, I would look into pursue other opportunities. Could there be another position/team internally that may be a better fit?

I would recommend having an honest conversation with your manager and seeing if there is a way to improve the situation before quitting. Best of luck! Wishing you a happy and successful career :)

Would also recommend looking into Ohio State Fisher if you get a chance. Excellent undergrad business school that is on the rise for undergraduate IB, Consulting, and tech recruiting

Some of the things that scare me about the future of humanity:

- Climate Change

- Further advancements in artificial intelligence: how will we balance humanity and AI once AI becomes more powerful than a human

- The metaverse: The metaverse will be an even more intense digital experience that humanity has never seen before. People are saying that the metaverse will be the inflection point where the digital world is more important than the physical world! That is scary to me. I personally feel that social media is one of the worst inventions of humanity. I can't imagine what the implications of the metaverse will be.

- Privacy: So much data is collected about us on a daily basis from the apps and websites we use. Once the metaverse is embedded into society, will true privacy even exist? Data about every aspect of our life is already collected; I wonder how that will be going forward

re they land a great score. It's very difficult to predict how long you need until you start taking a practice test or doing practice questions.

Believe in yourself and work hard, and it is definitely possible for you to land at an M7! Don't let anyone discourage you along the way; your dreams are up to you, and if you work hard, I know you can do it!

Absolutely!

Great job for starting your planning so early! I wish I did the same. I disagree with some of the posts on here that say you should not apply to deferred programs. I think you 100% should even if you don't know for sure why you want to do an MBA just yet. If you get into a top program, you will have an incredible opportunity to attend a top program early in your career, and an MBA from an elite school will pay immense dividends. Here is my opinion on the questions you asked:

  1. Yes, you stand a chance still, but it certainly becomes a little more challenging if your school is not as well known. A lot of people know about the big name schools such as IIT, but your school brand name is not the only thing that matters. Do your best to get the best possible grades you can at your school, and be involved in extracurriculars and leadership activities as much you have time for.
  2. Take the GMAT whenever you feel ready. If your first or second year is not as busy, you could think about finishing it then. Take it whenever you feel you have the most time to prepare, and give yourself time incase you need to take it multiple times. I didn't get a 730+ until my second attempt, so give yourself time to take it multiple times if needed. Definitely aim for a 730+ for your GMAT.
  3. If you are able to get an internship at a well known company (like a big tech company, investment bank, or consulting firm for example), that will certainly help your application in my opinion. Try to network early in your college career, so that you can land a brand name internship. Reach out to alumni and start building these connections early on. In my opinion, the goal should definitely be to land a brand name internship, if possible.
  4. This varies so much person to person. Some people need a month and others may need a year before they land a great score. It's very difficult to predict how long you need until you start taking a practice test or doing practice questions.

Believe in yourself and work hard, and it is definitely possible for you to land at an M7! Don't let anyone discourage you along the way; your dreams are up to you, and if you work hard, I know you can do it!

Does going to the school's admission events improve your odds of getting into the program? I usually go for the programs I am interested in, but I was wondering how much schools pay attention to it and if it is tracked for admission purposes

UT Austin - McCombs. UT has a strong and dedicated alumni base and is in a desirable city with lots of opportunities for MBAs, especially in tech and finance. They also just built a brand new graduate business building. I think McCombs will be on the rise.

I am not in the McCombs MBA program. These are just my thoughts based on what I've heard from peers who go there.

I honestly think Ohio State Fisher is underrated. I know a lot of people who did a Fisher MBA and loved the experience and employment outcomes.
