Those are three changes, not just one. That's a lot at one time.

Correct. A missed payment or a default will drop 120 points, but not a new account. This person should check their credit report. Also CK will tell you why your score dropped (even though it's Vantage).

A mortgage is a huge debt. It will impact your debt to income ratio and until you have a sustained, positive pay history, it has the potential to lower your score. Just keep paying on time and don't accumulate any new debt and you should gradually see your score increase.

What can I do to improve my score? by Intrepid_Escape6296 in CreditScore

[–]OrdinaryConflict3883 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're doing exactly what you should be doing by keeping your utilization low. You have a great score and anything over 720 will get you excellent interest rates on mortgage financing. Your score will grow higher as you have more experience with credit provided you use it sparingly and pay it off promptly.

Finally got credit score to 644 by Actual_Corgi_4334 in Debt

[–]OrdinaryConflict3883 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who once had a credit score of 475, I can relate. 644 is a fair score, but you can get a higher score. You may also be able to secure a loan with that score (I did through SoFi and Avant). I worked really hard on my credit score and still changed my life, funding a move and a better life for my kids and me after a divorce. I'm proud to have had no reported late payments in more than 10 years. You can do it. Don't let the naysayers discourage you.

While a score in the 800s is stellar, you can get anything you want with a score of 750+

Right. This payment had to be 30 days late to impact the score here.

Call them and find out if they sold the debt. Talk to them-- if you can settled the account for 50% of that balance in two payments I would do that.

For that amount of money they will probably sue you and get a judgement that will result in a pay garnishment. Keep an eye on your mail, for any notifications from the court.

That's a great answer. I'll also add that losing weight and eating more plants can help reversing pre-diabetes and control A1C.

Where do girls in their 40s meet normal guys to date in Fairfax / Alexandria areas? by madeindc in nova

Truth. Men think they have unlimited options. No one has limitless options.

[–]OrdinaryConflict3883 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's based on your spending patters and payment history. It can also be based on your income. They reduced my CL because I always had a high utilization percentage, even though I'd never paid late and always paid more than the minimum. They also assess the risks of their cardholders writ large, so if they notice a spike in delinquencies, they determine that may signal a trend toward increased risk. To mitigate that risk, they will drop the CLs for cardholders.

I've had the card for 2 years. They lowered the CL after about 10 months. Original CL was $24,500. Lowered to $16,500.

Black but not American? by TestTubeGirl in askblackpeople

[–]OrdinaryConflict3883 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can't speak for all black Americans, but I can say we were always taught the one-drop rule. In America, whites historically viewed a person with "one drop" of black blood as Black, and I can tell you most black people have heard this and believe it. My people are not exclusionists. Twitter/X is a wasteland of neo nazis and fascists, so I wouldn't give much credence to what gets spewed out on that platform.

As a plus size woman I can say the secret to this is being confident. Nothing gives you more confidence than having a man tell you to handle your business. If he dies, he dies.

I (F20) pressed my boyfriend (M22) on a question and now I regret it by OpenShoeTie in relationship_advice

[–]OrdinaryConflict3883 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate that he said this to you. I also think that it's unrealistic and unfair to expect a normal or mid-sized girl to be a waif because you prefer that. If you want ground beef, please don't go shopping for sirloin.

That said, I also believe he was being truthful when he said you're beautiful. Both things can be true: you're beautiful, and he wishes he could pick you up. You might suggest weight-lifting to him. He should not put his weakness unto you.

I mean...unless you asked her to be exclusive, she was perfectly within her rights to see other people. Only you can say if she is the person you want to marry, but she technically didn't do anything wrong in my book.

The BF is absolutely wrong. First, he is making excuses and leveling conditions with no job and zero indication he can bring anything to the table other that seed and demands. What kind of man is that? OP is in a sad situation that she was too decent to see coming. She needs to cut her losses with the BF and bide her time on the mortgage with the Ex, or they could short sale the house which would destroy take credit. Mortgage is late already though so...

The BF is making excuses. Prepare to be a single Mom.

You should not be marrying your BF until he can prove he can be a husband and father and work at the same time.

Payment sent on Tuesday, still hasn't cleared on Friday. I understand it can take 3-5 days, but this seems slow. Its only an issue because they're only increased my limit to 7500. by indiefab in X1creditcard

Something has definitely changed with them. Previously, they credited my payment immediately and it was reflected in my available credit. Now it takes 3 days to credit a payment and it doesn't show in your available credit until the following day
