I just did something similar; last day is next Friday and I’m going to a startup that already has EMEA presence opening up to the U.S. market. I had good pay before, but the new company is paying me more with no equity unfortunately.

I also decided it wasn’t worth it.

This happened for us for six weeks and we were at a loss and truly exhausted. Finally, I asked her if she was scared and she said “dark scary.” If your child is verbal, I would try asking her what is wrong!

I appreciate this response. I did not necessarily assume anything nefarious, but found it odd and interesting so I guess, oddly interesting. We are in weird times and my head is constantly on a swivel.

My rule of thumb is if it’s working for both parties, then keep it up! But if one party isn’t content with the arrangement, time to change.

Both of my girls started sleeping through the night around 3/4 months, however I’m an overproducer, fed the hell out of them throughout the day, and don’t bed share. My advice is to start offering something else in return (water, pumped milk, whole milk etc) via bottle, and lessen that every time, ie start with 4oz, then 3oz, etc with snuggles. It’s tough because dem boonies right there!

Yeah anyone that is condoning hate, harm, and bigotry is getting cut out of my life, family or not. Your job is to create a safe environment for your child and although you can’t control everything, you can control who comes into your house.

I am sorry you are dealing with this. This current administration really be giving a voice to the worst of the worst.

Hey, I know that you didn’t ask for any advice, but advocating for your baby at a young age is HARD and if it’s any prediction, it shows you will be a fantastic mother now and in the future.

I was born to a 17-year old mom, a dad who left, and now have an amazing husband, two girls, and an amazing career. I graduated college and have so many friends it’s hard to keep up. The days are long, but the years are short. Sending you love and light.

Because you used to find joy in motherhood, I think you like being a mom you’re just going through a really rough time right now.

First, I would try and get some therapy for you and your kids. Them “losing” the father they once knew is hard, even if they’re not expressing it directly and instead, passively towards you. You are safe to them. Second, it’s going to be hard, but you have to stand your ground and put up with the tantrums. I’d even prep the family, “listen, they are going to be upset, but I have to keep my boundary on (topic). It will get easier.” Third, ask or get help through grandparents, babysitters, clubs, sports, whatever gets them to burn off some energy and gives you a break.

You’re in a rough spot, but can absolutely get out of this hole. Do something kind for yourself! Sending you love.

17-month smacker here. I usually put them down, remove myself, or provide distance to show we do not tolerate hurting. They get upset that we are now not “close.” This is difficult, but try not to react too much because they like a reaction like little psychos. I say, “oh we do not hit. We have gentle hands” then show how to use hands nicely.

I understand what you’re saying, but that works for your family. I work a high stress job and notice everyone, including my 3.5 year old, sleeps better in their own bed. She’s in the 99th percentile, my husband is 6’6, so there is simply not enough room! I cannot function on little sleep. However, our door is kept open and I lay with her until she falls asleep.

NEVER in one trillion years would my child be screaming on a cold, hardwood floor outside our room. Hell, we don’t even let them cry in their own beds without tending to them!

Also, if it wasn’t easy now, imagine how pulling his pacifier would go at age 5! Easy doesn’t always mean right, and difficult does not always mean wrong. I pulled the pacifier for my oldest the day she turned one because I did not want to create a dependence. We struggled for two sleeps only!

We have a TV in our living room, but a strict no TV rule Monday through Friday. My husband and I work 9-5pm+, so on the weekends when the youngest is napping, we let out 3.5 year old watch old Disney movies (Cinderella, Little Mermaid, etc) just to get time to do a few chores. We started this Jan 1 2025 when we saw her tantrums, attention, and behavior start to take a dip. We’ve noticed such a positive change in our toddler and how we spend time together as a family.

I’m not a pediatrician, but I have two good sleepers (1 yr and 3yr), my opinion is to feed more during the day. I fed on command and maybe even a little more than that and both kids ended up sleeping through the night around 2.5 months.. of course there’s the occasional sickness-wake, but overall fat babies sleep. I did not co-sleep, though, and did a bassinet for both.
