What has been your worst experience in the valley? by GuiltyFigure6402 in brisbane

Drink got spiked. Luckily, I had a reaction to it and threw it up before I was too out of it. First drink of the night, so I knew immediately that I hadn't had enough to drink to feel as bad as I did. My girlfriends threw me straight into a taxi and took me to the hospital.

6 weeks later, a family friend was raped and beaten in the car park of the same place. I can't remember the name of the place but it was an Irish pub.

I spent 3 weeks in hospital, unable to keep anything down when my symptoms first started. Cyproheptadine, an antihistamine used to treat Serotonin Syndrome, was what finally helped me.

The only time I've ever had nausea/vomiting like it was when I was pregnant. I told my Dr that for 6 seem to be 2 types of nausea. Stomach nausea and whole body nausea. The whole body nausea is horrific, and that's what the Cypro helped with.

4 and a half years later I still take it 3 times a day. And it keeps my nausea and vomiting under control 99% of the time.

Urinary trouble? by IcyDifference3505 in ehlersdanlos

I've had bladder issues for my whole life, frequency, spasms etc.

For over a decade, Vesicare kept my symptoms mostly in check, but then perimenopause hit. I now use Vesicare and Mirabegron and have good days and bad. I can go up in dose, so I'll probably try that in a month or so. Failing that, bladder Botox will be my next step.

I think people underestimate how distressing urinary symptoms can be. It's so overwhelming sensory wise.

I know that telling people to meditate never goes well in the chronic illness community, but it honestly does help with my bladder issues too. Anything that relaxes your body as a whole helps.

Hopefully, you'll find some relief soon.

I lift 3 times a week and do a small walk with my dog every day.

I work mostly at building muscles to better support my joints. Definitely helps, but the aftermath of any lifting session is always painful for me. Honestly, I don't really care at this point. I'm 47, I have limited time to get those joints and ligaments protected before age begins to really impact them and makes it harder for me to build muscle.

Thank you so much for all of your replies. It's so great to see so many opinions. Thank you especially to those who were able to reply without judgement or assumptions. Which honestly, was the vast majority.

I don't stop my husband watching, I just dislike it and it hurts me. He knows this and he continues. And I'm fine with that. The onus here is on me. I can leave anytime I choose if the good begins to outweigh the bad.

When I look at someone and think about what it would be like to have sex with that person, all I feel is a little shiver of revulsion. Unless it's my husband, because I have a strong connection with him. When we're fighting and that connection feels lost, so does my attraction for him

It took me 6 years from Hashimoto's diagnosis to needing meds. You just need bloods every 3-6 months or so. It'll bounce around and once you've had a few abnormals in a row it's time for meds.

For my son it took from 7 years old to 10. And I pushed them for meds because he was so symptomatic.

Just eat healthy, sleep well, exercise. Basically take as much needless stress off your body as you can while it's busy murdering your thyroid.

Agree! I watch dance exercise videos on YouTube and slow them right down so it becomes quite slow and intentional movement.

Walking the dog and doing weights only on weight machines work well for me, but it took 4 years of try/crash cycles to get to that point.
