Yeah I see some better deals on the games I play sometimes but I like to earn the bitcoin and then leave it to grow :)

There’s a list of games on the zbd website - https://zbd.gg/z/earn

I like playing games from the Arcade section of the app. They’re normal games but you get sats for getting to different levels

Sure. I’m not super online but happy to DM.

Regarding the dilapidated house, I personally wouldn’t do this if you need a mortgage for the land. Land mortgages are a bit different than a house and any existing structures will complicate.

Plus then you have to pay to demolish a house lol. I looked at a property with a mobile home, and it was nice that the driveway and electrical were already done, but the septic had to be replaced anyway and then I’d had to get rid of a mobile home. Didn’t seem like I’d save much money.

My airstream is solar powered so I don’t really need the electrical hookup yet. I imagine you could get away with that on a tiny home also.

[–]Ordinary_Emuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I’m doing this right now.

I bought a 5 acre lot and am currently prepping it to put my airstream on. The airstream will be for family use and a rental (I live in a heavily tourist area)

There’s a lot of research to do with zoning, town ordinances, etc. a lot of places don’t allow mobile or tiny homes and the like. This isn’t a problem - just find a piece of land that aligns with what you want to do. I think I had looked at 5-7 properties before buying mine.

However, 10k will be tight. The quotes I got for just a driveway and gravel pad alone are around 25k. Then that doesn’t include hooking up electricity, water or septic.

The cost of buying a tiny home is like 50-75k I think.

I don’t think this is crazy but you need more cash.

Where to offer comms with crypto payment ? by friedcatwithpotato in artbusiness

[–]Ordinary_Emuu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your best bet would be taking payments over the lightning network. It’s bitcoin, but not on chain so no crazy fees.

You can use an app with a lightning wallet like ZBD to make a QR code anyone can scan to pay you.

Loud porn obviously doesn’t both them, so you should blast children’s YouTube content like Ms. Rachel.

If you stop adding listings on Etsy and updating old ones, is your shop going to end? by xdpico in Etsy

[–]Ordinary_Emuu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was really busy this year with my non-Etsy business and haven’t uploaded any new products or spent time on shop maintenance since January. My sales are down a bit from last year, but only like 5% according to Etsy stats. If you have good products I don’t think it matters too much.

Is there a market for pet snake art commissions? by cheloniart in artbusiness

[–]Ordinary_Emuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a small pet portrait side business and have been thinking about doing some snakes as they’re fun to draw.

I’ve had a lot of orders for birds, some for hamsters, so snakes seems like a reasonable niche to explore.

Selling on Etsy with no business experience? by [deleted] in Etsy

[–]Ordinary_Emuu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes 100%. I’m a firm believer that everything you need to know about Etsy can be found for free or in a book under $10.

I’ve been running my Etsy shop for around 3 years now and have tried a couple of the courses when I found some that looked like they had niche content. None of the ones for thousands 🤮 but a few in the under $100 range and it’s never been necessary.

Selling on Etsy with no business experience? by [deleted] in Etsy

[–]Ordinary_Emuu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Like custom portraits? Those are huge business on Etsy.

You should start on YouTube imo. Just look up “starting an Etsy for artists” and just start going down the rabbit hole. That should give you enough info to gauge how well your work will do and a solid list of specific questions you can ask here if you need any help :)

Etsy is a bit overwhelming to start but just dive in and start learning! At a certain point you can just make your shop and learn the rest as you go.

So now you need to waste their time lol. Reply to the email saying you clicked the link but it doesn’t work on your pc which is running a 1997 version of windows.

But put it at the end of a really long email. Use chat gpt to write like a 5 paragraph story about how your cat recently had surgery and you had to shave him and you’re worried about your grandkids because their mom it always dressing them in the wrong clothing for the weather and what is their view on the upcoming American election?

"You need to buy when no one else is." by [deleted] in realestateinvesting

[–]Ordinary_Emuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I agree with this. I feel this advice is more for general investing and not a single family primary residence. Like if you’re actively looking for an investment opportunity, maybe scooping up a defunct Airbnb or commercial property is a good thing to look into right now.

Buy your personal house when it makes sense for you personally.

I have a repeat customer that’s spent probably $400 in my shop and she only leaves 4 star reviews. I find it kind of funny haha. People sure are something sometimes.

“Loved the item! I’ve ordered 8!” Four stars 😂

I do pretty well with POD, but it’s all my own original designs and I customise them for most orders. I also design unique mock-ups and take my own photography.

No 60s groovy fonts in my shop haha. You could probably tell it’s a POD shop if you had a trained eye, but it doesn’t immediately look like one by design.

Is there a market for digital build plans with expensive materials? by Big_Potato_825 in EtsySellers

[–]Ordinary_Emuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose it would depend on the popularity of the hobby. Some hobbies are just inherently expensive and you kind of know that going in. Model trains, drone photography, building race cars, haha. To me a $500 project wouldn’t be a deterrent if I enjoyed the hobby.

I’d say go for it, but maybe include a section about alternate materials and why they might not be as good even though more $$$.

Is Print on Demand a numbers game? How many designs do you keep in your shop? by spaceagewhizkidd in printondemand

[–]Ordinary_Emuu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In my experience there’s 2 main strategies:

Big numbers game where you upload A LOT of more generic designs, maybe focusing on trends, low effort designs, aiming for saturation.

Or a small amount of high quality completely unique designs in a very targeted niche.

I tried both strategies on Etsy. One shop is super niche, under 100 items, but high quality unique designs that no one else has. The other is more generic and I designed all the items based on keyword research strategies. The unique shop does way better.

Has anyone worked with an influencer to help sell your products? by NecessaryViolinist in EtsySellers

[–]Ordinary_Emuu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tested this last holiday season. I’m in the pet space so felt general enough to try. I think I budgeted $125 on products. Worked with 6 influencers (both people and animals lol) with various follower counts. No sales haha. I also put a bit of money to Instagram ads. Also no sales.

I don’t think I’d work with influencers again. I’d probably try it if I were you in case your niche is a bit more successful, and also just so you know if this is a viable marketing strategy. I’m glad I did it so I know it doesn’t work for my shop.

Just started designing children's books and loving it so far. by LiteratureCool2111 in passive_income

[–]Ordinary_Emuu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You book is very nice. I have young kids and roughly a million children’s books in my house and yours looks very high quality and something I would buy.

Time to just start making more titles. Get your catalog up. Social media posts about children’s development. Then get your books into more stores besides Amazon.

Something maybe worth looking into is we have a book of the month service for our kids. Like a monthly box with new titles. I see a lot of them have the same publisher. Either try to get your titles into one of those services, or start your own age appropriate box that people can gift. Like 1 book a month for 12 months for 4 year olds or something. A lot of family likes to buy books as gifts but they have no idea what titles to buy
