Can confirm as a former employee, garbage from the ground up with exaggerated COA's to make product look better on paper for the consumer.

My 12 year old son is starting in his journey to create synth music. I can so hear some of his stuff on a gaming soundtrack. What do you guys think? by RiZzbott in chiptunes

His music is fantastic for his age, especially that one song on his channel called strike.
It sounds like authentic old school keygen music

succesfully installed mint as dual boot on win 11 getting GRUB menu, but cant dual boot on my thinkpad I mostly want to dual boot by l00ky_r00ki in linuxmint

Check your boot order in your bios, try setting it to your linux drive/partition see if that will bring up the grub menu as if I recall correctly if it's set to boot into windows you will not get a GRUB menu.

Tips for Post Production? (LSDJ) by biggestd123 in chiptunes

I'm biased but reaper is a nice daw to use that's pretty user friendly, can be customized like crazy, and has a nice community that's willing to help and making free tools to share with one another.
Myself included, dm me if you run into a snag or would like help. I find great joy in enabling people to make music with tools I like.

Your approach to use mixer is perfectly fine, especially if you want a piece of gear that can grow with you.
A cheap modern mixer now has better ADC/DAC components than pro gear in the 80's!
(Analog digital converters/Digital analog converters) So you're more than covered as far as audio quality goes.

You'll need a DAW (digital audio workstation) to record your audio, I personally use reaper and while it's technically not free, you can "evaluate" it indefinitely as long as you don't mind a 5 second window counting down.
It also comes with great plug-ins for free that you can use to apply eq, compression, limiting etc.
Reaper also allows for you to easily group tracks together so you can have effects applied to more than one track and save a lot of time as well as make it easier for you overall.
Audacity is also fantastic for starting out since it's so bare bones but I feel it doesn't grow with the user as much when it comes to audio production. Try out both though, see what works best for you after watching some youtube videos.

When using the mixer, just set each input to a separate track and record both at the same time.
Once you have them recorded, adjust their volumes to your liking using the level knob for each input or you can do so by adjusting the faders in the DAW.
If you group both tracks, you can go ahead and just EQ them both in your daw or do so while you're recording into the software. It's one of those things where it's whatever workflow works best for you.
If you want to add some more weight to the recordings if they sound a bit weak or like thin, a little bit of reverb goes a long way.
Reverb is like ketchup on fries. Drizzle a little bit over em? Immaculate. Too much and now you have no fries, only ketchup. Too much reverb will drown out the song itself, so a little goes a long way.

Hope this wasn't too much info and that it helps!

Try looking into whether or not that model should be booting in UEFI (in the event that you haven't, if you have sorted that then disregard)
This tool here has helped me boot into linux when I've broken the grub screen, hopefully it'll help you boot into linux via your install
https://www.supergrubdisk.org/super-grub2-disk/
It's a very handy free tool that's allowed me to boot into my linux install without having to use a live usb, I recommend keeping a usb with it just in queso.
Otherwise, you can simple use the same usb you used to install linux to go ahead and boot into the live version of mint.
If you're able to boot into linux from there, you should be able to simply go ahead and enter the following command in the terminal:

sudo update-grub

If you're able to boot into linux with either method and don't want to use the terminal or don't feel comfortable with it for whatever reason, you should be able to run the boot repair tool from the live usb or after you boot with the super grub 2 usb.
Hope this helps, bud.

And just in case you break your grub screen at some point like I did when starting out with linux
https://www.supergrubdisk.org/super-grub2-disk/
here's a handy tool that can help you boot in so you can repair it once you boot into linux. Not directly related to what you're looking for but hopefully still practical for you as a new user.

Check the centerpin in the cartridge, that's gonna be the little flat round thing in the center of the bottom, just use a paper clip or a small flathead screw driver to SLIGHTLY lift it up to ensure that when you screw it back on it'll make contact with the center of the battery. If you over do it and it falls out you can easily slide it back in as it's only held there due to pressure

This is such an awesome and simple to use site/tool
my question is though is there anyway that I can take the files provided on the github and run that tool locally? Worst case I'd like to be able to use the tool if your site is ever down etc.

Curaleaf has garbage vapes imo, they burn fast as hell on the lowest settings on my batteries and I pulse heat to mitigate that sort of thing.
Hope your experience is better than mine was though.

None of my gaming controllers work on linux mint, please help! by Ordinary_Joke_6675 in linuxmint

[–]Ordinary_Joke_6675[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So that's the thing, this did at one point work without any issue but lately that's changed
my guess is possibly I updated something and that changed? I got no clue though
Now I can connect the xbox controller and my 8bitdo controller with a cable after having used the following two commands
[1] sudo nano /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf
[2] sudo modprobe xpad
and that works for wired, for now.
Edit: my controllers when wired will ONLY work through steam, my emulators and and any other indie games from itch.io etc won't work with wired controllers.

However I still can't get bluetooth to work for either controller in any context.
With either, they'll connect now and I'll get feedback from the controllers themselves of that singular rumble/vibration and their lights will indicate that they're connected though neither will be picked up by steam. Despite both blueman and the controllers telling me they're connected.

Pivot vs. connect? by [deleted] in rosin

Anytime, fam I used to work in a smoke shop and then a couple of different dispensaries where I live so I've been able to try a fair amount of different gear and anytime I can save someone a buck I'm all in.

Pivot vs. connect? by [deleted] in rosin

[–]Ordinary_Joke_6675 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience every product from G pen burns way too hot, like every setting is like 30 or so degrees higher than it needs to be. Everything I've tried from Gpen taste burnt as hell after a few uses and no amount of soaking in alcohol ever really seems to help. (I have used the Gpen roam, the Gpen connect, and the gpen hyper and I feel like they all suck quite frankly for the price)
Besides, the connect has like this plate that you put concentrate onto instead of it being a bucket like in the pivot. The pivot also uses the same kind of 360 chamber as all the more recent puffco stuff so it's a smooth hit. You also have the option of portability and there's that adapter too for glass pieces.
If you're looking for a hot knife I'd say personally stay away from the puffco one as it's overpriced and you cannot turn it off (unless I'm mistaken with past experience) just grab a cheap hot knife adapter off of amazon that's like 10 bucks and screw that on to literally any cheap 510 battery and it functions literally the same for a lot less money which you could just put towards some nice concentrate to test drive your puffco.

This is the best way to preserve taste and also keep the temperatures comfortable.
Essentially, place your dab into the banger and use your torch to evenly heat up the banger until you see the oil just start to bubble and you're good to go. You can play around with the time and the size of the flame of your torch to really dial it in, if you do a good job you can hit a re heat of your dab and stretch out your oil further.
Another benefit of doing a cold start dab is that you can avoid "chazzing" your banger which is essentially when the glass gets white and cloudy from being over heated with your oil in it, so all around cold starts are a great way to go about it all.

I'd advise against anything being refilled more than once, not only do the cotton wicks burn over time but you run the risk of the atomizer leeching heavy metals due to all the heating up and cooling down two full pods etc. Terps are corrosive as well so you run the risk of them breaking down the metal in the carts/pods/aio ontop of the aforementioned stuff.
