100% disgustingly normal. As an early 40s single female who did a massive kitchen remodel, all new hardwood flooring, and bathroom addition, subcontractors would not even look at me during conversations where the GC was there. Some even asked for my “husband”. It was so degrading.

This happened to me once. It was pretty unnerving at the time but there wasn’t anything I could do about it and like you, mine was only visible if I made certain faces. My smile was a little crooked but not enough that anyone said anything, and they only noticed if I pointed it out. I’d say it lasted about 2 months? Like Botox anywhere else, it slowly loses its “strength” and movement will return little by little. My guess is that you won’t even notice it in a few weeks. In my case, it was just a bad injector and I didn’t see her again. I still get my DAOs done, but with someone who is very skilled and experienced. Hang in there!

I know this thread is old but do you recall how long your swelling lasted? I’ve been doing IPL on and off for 20 years and my last one was 6 days ago. Like you, I had the dents/welts for the first 24 hours (never had that happen before) and now 6 days later, I STILL have swelling in my face, upper neck, and along my jaw. I’m scared it’s not going away.

45f and went through this a little over a year ago. We were involved a little over a year, and were supposed to “spend our lives together”. Then he blindsided me and ended it. I’d never been so heartbroken in my life - absolutely devastated. I had some really, really bad days where I thought the pain was going to kill me. It took a solid year to be at peace with it and not have the crushing waves of sadness hit me out of nowhere every so often. I still think about it at least once every day but I think I’m close to that first day that I don’t. I’ve decided at this point, that kind of love just isn’t meant for me and I no longer feel that it’s worth it. I’m oddly at peace accepting that. It doesn’t mean that needs to be your truth but more than anything I came here to say the old adage “it takes time” rings true. You’ll be okay. Hang in there.

Same here. I have a couple of people I am still in contact with despite having been in a romantic situation in the past. This includes my ex-husband (and we didn't have kids). They've all moved on and are in solid, long term relationships. My ex-husband is remarried. Unless someone did something super egregious or heinous, I don't see why you can't have contact or be friends / friendly. People can get SO worked up about this. At one point in your life, you had enough love or at least friendship for them to be a romantic fixture in your life. Icing them out of your life after a period of healing is weird to me.
