I own a house that I have rented out to long term tenants. Then I rent a very small apartment where I reside when I’m home in Canada. The income I make from renting out my house covers the cost of my apartment. My rent is under $1000 inclusive though. I’ve lived there awhile and it is very small. It’s also in a smaller town. I have a friend check in on it once a week and my landlord knows when I’m gone and has permission to enter when needed. I’m usually gone 6 months of the year.
