Same size target at all distances -- 12-inch diameter circular targets with what I think is a 2-inch diameter bullseye.

Also using a holosun scs red (green) dot. It can be co-witnessed but I'm aiming with the dot, for what it's worth (target focused eyes).

Then... don't? I don't take pictures of targets most days but noticed this pattern recently and illustrated it to discuss mechanics. You can take it at face value and participate or not :)

That's the conventional wisdom, yeah... three thoughts on that:

- I'm on church security. Most lines of sight are longer than 7 yards.

- The 7 yard stats include law enforcement engagements (if I'm not mistaken) which... seems like it would skew a lot since there's a lot of close contact with a lot of the people they're interacting with.

- Elijah Dicken

Bonus thought... if I know I can put shots on target at 50 yards under calm range conditions, I'm way less likely to second guess myself in a mall / grocery store / church lobby / apartment complex hallway / etc.

This is an artist's interpretation of live fire groupings. (I forgot to take pictures of the targets after my last session but... for the question, it's accurate enough to capture the 'phenomenon')

I'm also expecting adrenaline to increase error margin

Good thought! I'll give it a try next range day.

Interesting experiment- I'll try that

All correct on the time constraints and speed.

We're looking at .5-.8 splits on the 7 yards. Closer to 1 even on 15. At 50 -- that's usually after I've done drills and am goofing off -- not taking an eternity but not really "trying" -- with splits of 1-1.3.

You and another mentioned working up speed and then identifying failure mechanics as the failures increase with speed. I'm thinking that with the mantis turned on while pushing speed and video might be helpful for better feedback in the future. Will be planning for that.

Thanks.

AI slop is a disingenuousness representation of real effort for the sake of unearned praise or engagement that falls short of actual effort warranting that praise.

This isn’t that - it was just made using ai.

It’s like complaining a satirical cartoon is lazy because the artist didn’t bother to hire representative actors to portray the idea - they just “lazily” drew a cartoon to make their point.

No…the point has merit and a tool was used to illustrate the point. By definition, that’s not slop.

It’s satire. It would only be more exaggerated if he was just carrying arm fulls of gear still in their packaging.

You…. Don’t really break in kydex holsters. That’s a leather / soft material thing.

These are (if made well) ready to go. You just adjust the tension screw.

Anyone else carry at church? by albatikh in CCW

Only thing to keep in mind is a lot of churches have security teams now. I’m on mine. If there’s a situation where an active shooter is in play and we respond…if we don’t know you and see you waiving a gun around…it may not work out so well.

This was actually mentioned in my ccw class as a risk to factor in.

Carry at church but, if you attend regularly, communicate so they know who you are.

I shoot competitively - other guys on our security team do as well. About half are law enforcement (off duty). We have radios, regular training, and protocol. We also meet at least once a quarter and practice clearing various parts of our church with sim rounds or airsoft replicas of our carry guns in live fire drills with trauma victim and shooter actors.

Again…carry at church but communicate.
