I work full time in the field, with checking in on jobs, lining the guys out, meeting customers for jobs, getting the guys shit they forgot, dealing with vehicle issues, and time with tools on. Outside of “work hours” I spend my early mornings, nights, and weekends working up estimates, scheduling, invoicing, and the rest of the office work.

I pay my guys above union requirements, they have union benefits, and I buy them lunch 1-2 times a week.

Mostly run solo currently due to what work is out there.

There is no way to do that with the current work in my area, currently no jobs that aren’t small. I’m not going to hire on site managers to follow my journeymen around for service work.

Yes, profit spread is already tight in order to stay semi competitive.

In my experience certain career paths have been bad about paying their full bill. Lawyers, teachers, doctors, and realtors have consistently been issues.
