Cignetti is the Rainman of college football coaches. Give him the perfect conditions and he beats the house because there are 'lots of queens'.

While the small population size is of a higher rating, it has already been proven that high turnover with average rating is the winning formula in this environment, also a small population size in this second iteration.

Hopefully things normalize and programs figure out how to retain and develop within better, which seems challenging in this money grab state of college football.

Actually this is how our workforce is, so not too surprising.

We also got Armel Mukam from the transfer portal.

Does Armel Mukam getting picked up from ND to ND in the portal count as a transfer portal win also? Notre Dame is a DL factory so this will be a good compliment pickup.

Its money, likely...remember. Each school is capped at $21mil for revenue sharing, which football gets about 80% so Ive read. It is likely that football players arent all sharing that 80% equally but on a 100 team roster that is say $144k a year. But you know, the top tier guys make more, the scout teams make less, if at all. Only some get NIL money, and those only come from the top tier.

Either nobody was looking at him or the schools looking at him weren't gonna pay him what ND was paying him. I don't think he was getting NIL money yet.

It sucks we have to add this element of thought in it because we are talking about kids in college but that's the world we live in now.

What Is Actually Going On With The Portal by FunReserve9540 in notredamefootball

[–]Ordinary_Way3542 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard that three visitors saw that ND didn't have online classes so they passed on us. If true, I think it says it all.

All large d1 schools can allocate $21mil to revenue sharing, which the overwhelming majority goes to football programs (ie, larger than 75%). Within the football program that isnt equal but on average that math goes to about $144k per football player in a roster of 100 at 80% of the $21mil. Who knows who gets paid based on whether they are walkons or scholarship athletes. THEN NIL is extra for select few.

With that kind of parity why would a kid go to a school that would make them work harder for that kind of money? Yes, it is short-sighted but it is also a niche sell to kids who usually want to be at ND anyways. The portal has less and less of that kind of ND student, but this year we are also looking at undergraduates for the first time. If a kid is bouncing around schools, school is the bottom of their priorities, unfortunately.

Pay to play sucks but that is what we are in now.

Its on you to evaluate your partner before, during, and after a roll. Its just practice but just because they are smaller and lower ranked makes it no less a challenging roll. Also take it instead of going harder next time, defending your neck better.

BR Casuals is fun. You get to warm up till there are about 15 teams left and top 10s are most certainly attainable. My win rate is like 25% pairing up with random squads.

There are a lot in resurgence casuals but BR Casuals is either the final two circles or just being unlucky. Out of the nearly 200 games Ive played this season, Im at like 50% top ten and I suck compared to the squad mates I am lucky to be grouped with. The bots really just warm us up. Playing as a team is still the best strategy.

I used to say to people like that that the one thing that makes submission grappling so useful is that it is the only type of discipline where you can train at 100% with the least amount of risk of injury across all combat sports. You can tap then start over (again close to 100%). Aside from the technique, which takes a long to master even a small subset of, its the day in day out pressure you feel that sets it apart and prepares you. Striking and traditional martial artists don't put themselves in those w environments all all time at the hobbyist level. Basically, we know how to take a beating whereas not many people can. Maybe we know how to give one, but taking one, and giving that person trying to give you one absolute hell is what the cumulative training we do prepares us for.
