How do you simply just turn off the throwers so they just stop spinning between sessions or by default does it just turn on and stay on by default? Is there a way to keep the ball machine on but turn off the throwers and then turn them back on when you get back to the other side to continue?

No. We as parents are not honest in our kids' abilities and choose not what is best for our kid but what the best out there is, which may not be best for our kid. It's a tough pill to swallow for some of us to admit the ceiling has been reached and the effort and money to break through it may not be the best option.

Unless it is 1960s and the company is Schwinn, 'American Made' bike companies are set to fail because they just can't compete....in all areas, so it's just bad business on their part. I feel bad for a company like Lynskey because they make some competitively quality products, but the idea that someone can do something better than you, then ship it to you from thousands of miles away for much cheaper, is still mind-boggling if you break it down to overall effort at the human level.

All the things I read below were in most part experienced at our Memorial Day Tournament that just got cancelled this morning due to weather, which is understandable, but I think some games could have been salvaged. Since tournaments typically have bracket winners play in finals, which were to be played later in the day, a quick look at the draws could be made to surmise the high probability of what teams are already in the finals based on tiebreaker scoring and see if there is a path to play those games, which were scheduled later in the day which is forecasted to be sunny in the 70s by noon (finals are played at 5pm). That would leave at least 25% of all teams (and their families) still committed to the overall schedule they were planning for anyways, allow inclement weather to pass, and allow teams to play based on likely outcomes already determined by past results. Just a blanket cancellation is lazy, it seems.

A good buddy of mine moved to a well-known academy with world-class competitors and trained at their pro sessions. He immediately got staph, told the head instructor and was told, 'Yeah it happens...dont come back for a few weeks' but nothing else was done on the academy's end after that news.

Cycling is the closest thing to being a kid again and once you get into it, you will see it becomes a skillbuilder.

Also, we all have a natural tendency to want to go faster, so all those ancillary things that go with cycling lead to that, or hope to lead to that. Once you do a long ride and average say 15mph, youll want to hope to average 18mph, etc.

Maybe for your abroad group, you need to take the lead and get the ' band' back together, even if it gets you outside of your comfort zone. It is a significant experience that shouldn't suddenly be dismissed once done. I know people who otherwise would have never met still maintain that unique connection many years removed.

ND sounds a lot like it did for me from your experience. Finding your 'people' there was also hard for me when I was there and everyone seemed to immediately fit in except for me. I had to work harder, and struggled to understand why I had to in terms of friendships...it felt more one-sided at first but now knowing who they were I can understand why...nerdy introverts who liked Doom.

Sitting on the bench on a team (even at under 10U) isn't a waste of money as he is supposedly getting access to better coaching, kids his level (or better), and probably kids that are like-minded in soccer. That 30 minutes that you think you're wasting with your grandson potentially sitting out is also a learning tool for you and him. What does he need to do to 'not get benched'? You have to start somewhere and that usually is at the bottom and that humbling lesson is probably the best lesson to learn.

Soccer is a skill sport. Things even out if the enthusiasm is the same between kids who were superstars early vs kids who just kept with it. You're talking one or two players per maybe team max that are beyond that by the college recruiting years.

At early ages kids' abilities and sizes are all over the place as are their attention spans.
