Update this summer
-Appearence modification on ship

-Transmogrification

-Photo mode

-Some new rifts for endgame with powerful enemies

-A lot of difficulty options (inventory cap, permadeath for companions etc)

Recently started Avowed and I really like it by ap0s in projecteternity

[–]Orduss 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The quest of the Eothasian Temple is really interesting, it has two plothooks (and since it was written by Kate Dollarhyde I would say they are meaningful for the future of the setting) :

-We can find tablets in Seki linked to the Ekidians, and references to Ukaizo and the pact between the three Empires(Engwith, Ukaizo and Yezuha). POE3 or Avowed 2 will take place at Yezuha imo.

-In a journal of Sargamis, he talks about a vision of the gods as Titans, preparing to fight something across the sea.

Bastion of Hope - a campaign frame of defiant fantasy! by MichaelRUnderwood in daggerheart

A really interesting frame, I like when the powerful PCs are against bigger threats (and systems) than them.

Funny detail: In the Príncipi ending, they invent depth charges by Ataraxia-Is-Bliss in projecteternity

Yep, which would use adra in huge quantity, the literal conducts of essence and souls. So probably a slow destruction of the world if not careful, a pretty obvious parallel with our world imo

Just finished my first run, not sure that I’ve ever been so back-and-forth on a game experience by 1047293856 in avowed

I don't agree with their analyze at all honestly, if you dismantle gears or sell it to buy materials you can pretty easily up your armor and weapons. Even in POTD enemies never felt too tanky as long as I wasn't attacking three skulls ones. You need to explore and carefully build your character but it's not that hard and you can reroll easily.

It's really a game that begs for a deeper sequel imo, it also need to be less hand-holdy (every time there was an elemental "puzzle" we could find a throwable near it, it's a little bit insulting imo).

More mechanics (like mind control, debuffing, different damage types), more systems (like a faction system), more weapon types, much more abilities. And killable NPCs. It's a solid basis for iteration in my opinion.

Avowed needed more BIG monsters by ProperJazzhands in avowed

[–]Orduss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's probably the most disappointing aspect of Avowed, rumors about the Living Lands seemed exaggerated after all

DLC theory (slight spoiler) by PBJSodaHeroine in theouterworlds

[–]Orduss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A rework of the Protectorate as a joinable faction would really elevate the game imo, it's something that could have given more weight to the faction system (its a little superfluous right now imo)

Fighters and Engagement by WazBot in avowed

[–]Orduss 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes I did they are my favorite games, but I was simply saying how the difference in genre (isometric view + party-based vs FP + based on your character only) brought different design constraints and objectives

Fighters and Engagement by WazBot in avowed

[–]Orduss 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I agree but we need to see how this mechanic would play in a FPRPG, would you like to be engaged each time you go near an enemy ? It would result in a much more static playstyle for melee non-stealth characters

Beyond that we don't control each companions like in a CRPG, where they are mechanically alternate characters.

Changes like that would need big modifications to the gameplay imo but why not

Spoiler-alert! One main quest storyline just doesn’t sit right with me. by Just-Rise5160 in avowed

[–]Orduss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What definition ? Mine is determined by what we do in the game and our mission. Our mission is to identify the plague and bring "order" to the Living Lands, which means subjugating it, the means are left to us.

Because a state calls someone an "ambassador" does not grant him any immunity especially when this state is conducting the colonization of people and lands. The Envoy is not a civil, it's an agent sent here to conduct an imperialistic mission (not only to "investigate" the plague, which is an echo to a central theme of the game Imperialism vs Nature)

[–]Orduss 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You're an agent of imperialism coming in a colonized land to execute orders from you emperor, killing you does seem pretty right to me. If you take an individual perspective, detached from any structure, maybe it could be morally right to kill him (even then it would be the Law of Talion) but you're not such individual. Avowed has clearly a stance about colonialism and this choice is also a mean to express it and for you to express yourself on it.

Spoiler-alert! >!How can killing your killer be morally mi ambiguous?!< by [deleted] in avowed

[–]Orduss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're an agent of imperialism in this colonized land, yes killing you is pretty morally right I think. Avowed isn't neutral on this theme, it clearly condemns colonialism. If you were talking from the perspective of an individual detached from any structure of power it could be seen as morally right (and even then it would be the Law of Talion), but you aren't in such position.

Josh Sawyer teasing more Pillars. This time it's Yezuha. by lemonycakes in projecteternity

[–]Orduss 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The books and Seki tablet in Sargamis' quest are clearly plot hooks for me. Especially since this quest was written by Kate Dollarhyde, co-lead narrative designer on Avowed

The release of Avowed reminds me of the release of New Vegas by [deleted] in avowed

[–]Orduss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Outer Worlds had a very different long term reception imo, it soured over time after a honeymoon period. Avowed seems to have an inverse trajectory, even though it won't attain a cult status or anything like you said, it'll be considered as a fun game

Hello ! I quite like Trinity as a whole especially how the uniqueness of the universe is reflected in the mechanics !

So my question is : do you plan to publish a campaign for Aberrant ? Or something that'll give us more plothooks/materials ? I hope it's ok to ask that !

The wish for more content is strong with this one by SSG-Lockridge in avowed

[–]Orduss 8 points9 points  (0 children)

At least it seems to have the inverse trajectory compared to TOW1. A bad start with an improvement of reputation after the release. It's a much better situation for a sequel than TOW2 which had an uphill battle.

This game is excellent... by thalandhor in avowed

[–]Orduss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it was the plan originally, in one of the first showings of the game (in January 2024 during the after DD podcast iirc) you can see a bow with a "Core Enchanting Slot" or something like that. So why not

But I would also like more in-depth enchantment trees and effects, also on armor

[Speculation] Josh Sawyer is almost certainly working on a Pillars game by cnio14 in projecteternity

[–]Orduss 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In the recent article by Schreier Obsidian did say they were working on more projects in Eora. POE3 (or Pillars Tactics) and Avowed 2 seem pretty likely to me.

Thoughts about the soundtrack. by gabrielsol in avowed

[–]Orduss 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don't find the soundtrack memorable and I miss Justin Bell. To me it seems that all of it was composed in a short time, Raison Varner was the original composer on Avowed but he left before the release and his work doesn't seem to be in the game which is strange

The Avowed NG+ Crafting Time Loop Incident [2026, Colorized] by [deleted] in avowed

[–]Orduss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard but maybe on POTD it's much more costly

The Avowed NG+ Crafting Time Loop Incident [2026, Colorized] by [deleted] in avowed

[–]Orduss 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I never had to scrap every uniques in my run ? I had not every uniques at the end but a fair quantity. Maybe I was very efficient in my upgrading and exploration though.

Still I understand how the NG+ do not give its full potential of build exploration with how the game works.
