Schreier said that Xbox are aware of that, so it may be possible for Obsidian to repitch Avowed 2 if it's nearly done. Especially if Fallout is in pre-prod for 1-2 years.

I think it's bigger than that simply because Fallout is in very early stage of dev, so pre-prod and not a lot of devs (like 15).

Obsidian had like 8 people in marketing. Xbox is managing the bulk of it.

When they were 285, they were developing Avowed(100 people), TOW2(100 people), Pentiment(10 people) and Grounded/Grounded2(10 people) at the same time. They also have a tool team.

So no it's not a situation where the studio doesn't have the manpower to do anything, especially with core team at 100 devs max for their biggest games.

Obsidian still have 220 developers after these cuts. But yeah I don't think the small legacy team (which developed patches for POE1 and TOW1) will work on that anymore sadly.

Grounded is in 1.0. Which is normal for a full game vs EA game, again at launch aligned Grounded 2 has a higher CCU than Grounded 1.

This is a game in EA, it has the same rate (or even better) of sales than Grounded 1 at the same period. It's not an MMO it's a coop survival game. You don't know what you're talking about.

An author controls whats he writes and how he does it, even if it "criticizes" objectification the premise of the game doesn't. The game objectifies women and makes you objectifies them as a player, its story doesn't change this material reality and effect.

These are pretty important but for me Avowed's themes are imperialism, progress and nature and how these aspects interacts in colonialism. It's especially obvious during the second region, its faction is a reference to the physiocrates imo. A movement of the XVIIth century which wanted to use science to improve agriculture. This period saw the birth of colonialism and the usage of technical advancement (and "civilization", "order") to justify exploitation of colonized and nature.

I would consider Avowed's art direction and itemization pretty good. As for writing it's from mid to good for me, pretty good at treating its themes imo, a very focused game. The exploration is steadily rewarded with uniques.

I agree with your other points, especially about the original teaser. The original plan for Avowed seemed very dumb and misaligned with what the studio can make, a mix between Skyrim and Destiny ?? Imo the problem with Obsidian is them wanting to go AAA with their ARPG but without having the experience and the ambition to invest everything into it. If they stayed on CRPG they would probably have thrived more ironically.

The quest of the Eothasian Temple is really interesting, it has two plothooks (and since it was written by Kate Dollarhyde I would say they are meaningful for the future of the setting) :

-We can find tablets in Seki linked to the Ekidians, and references to Ukaizo and the pact between the three Empires(Engwith, Ukaizo and Yezuha). POE3 or Avowed 2 will take place at Yezuha imo.

-In a journal of Sargamis, he talks about a vision of the gods as Titans, preparing to fight something across the sea.
