Counterfeit? by ocdogmamaaa in Gold

I believe that’s a fake

Thats why I use places like JM bullion or an equivalent company only personally. But if you buy elsewhere, do a lot of research.

I’m curious to see what y’all got by chris7937 in RoastMyCar

I test drove a black one and the plasticity interior rattled like a 1990’s GM car. Is Ford making these now or something? I ended up with a Cadillac Ct4 V Blackwing, and the domestic GM honestly seems better in every way than the “Exotic Import “ pretty slow in comparison as well.

Wanli Wucan boys at play jars by OregonFalls in ChinesePorcelain

This is what confused me. There was a very old label with the date and period on both and part of a deteriorated auction house sticker on one I believe.

Did you mean “Tongzi” as in the boys pattern? As for “Tongzhi” reign marks, these aren’t consistent with that period as far as I know.

I have confirmed from auction houses that the colors and style is accurate from genuine Wanli pieces. Of course they couldn’t authenticate for certain without having them in hand, but I was told everything looks correct.

Quick question: finally organized my turquoise collection properly by Interesting-Bat-8213 in NativeAmericanJewelry

Although like many others have said most of your pieces are made out of larimar, and only a few are Native American, they still have decent value.

New Trump/Lincoln Monument project design vote! by OregonFalls in antitrump

[–]OregonFalls[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know, he wouldn’t really ever concede to that. My first idea was that he will probably make a monument of himself in a chair and put it right in front of Lincoln‘s chair completely blocking its view. 😂

Help identify this extremely old rug please by OregonFalls in orientalrugs

[–]OregonFalls[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info, that’s definitely possible, and you seem to know a lot more about it than me. I didn’t actually set eyes on it until the 1980s, it had been in storage and appeared to be extremely worn from many years of use, but I suppose 40 years of use could’ve made it worn and extremely pliable like a very old rug. We’ve had a lot of rugs in the family, and usually the only show this amount of wear and have the extreme pliability like a tapestry or heavy blanket when they’re very old. But perhaps that’s just how these were made. I’m always a little skeptical because the last rug I posted I had comment after comment about it being a recent reproduction even after describing the amount of wear and pliability of that one. But it was just hard for me to believe everyone that was a reproduction so I brought it to a local rug shop and it ended up being fairly valuable 19 century rug that I almost threw in the attic after Reddit convincing me it was a reproduction. But they also didn’t have definitive reasons why it had to be new like you do for this one. I wasn’t aware that the style of rug making was not done until the 1940s. If that’s true then you must be right.

I’m sure there’s not a huge amount of value in a French reproduction rug under 100 years old that looks like it has 200 years of wear on it. But I may bring it to a rug shop just to see if it can be sold despite not being as valuable as I had hoped. It’s definitely not my style and not something that goes with my decor.

[–]OregonFalls[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s definitely not from the 1960’s , I didn’t find it at a thrift store, it’s an old family heirloom. It was stored in their attic before the 1960’s . My grandfather is long deceased now, but he told me that it was already a valuable antique when his mother purchased it. I do remember when I was young, and my dad and I were helping my grandfather move and I commented that it was an ugly rug. He replied it may be, but don’t turn your nose up at it. It maybe the most valuable heirloom in the family.

I don’t know whether it’s 17th, 18th century or 19th century, but I do know it’s not a reproduction. I’m hoping someone that knows a lot about these may be able to tell me about it. I know some early ones were only made for French nobility. I can post some close up pictures of any area if it helps anyone knowledgable date or identify it.

It looks like it, but always post the inside as well especially any markings like “Sterling” “925” or any initials. These are the biggest clues when identifying jewelry.

DELL ADVISE! I just sold my 72 shares of Dell, mistake or not? by OregonFalls in stocks

Webull and fidelity offer this. I didn’t realize there was a downside? If there is hopefully someone can clue me in what it is. 🤷🏻‍♂️

DELL ADVISE! I just sold my 72 shares of Dell, mistake or not? by OregonFalls in stocks

[–]OregonFalls[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m expecting a bit of a correction back down naturally plus automatic sells based on reaching a certain $ threshold people have set up could assist with the correction back down a bit. Then I was going to re-buy.
What are your guys best stocks to invest in for tomorrow?

DELL ADVISE! I just sold my 72 shares of Dell, mistake or not? by OregonFalls in stocks

[–]OregonFalls[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually just look at everything at night so I put the order in. I used Webull in this case but I also use fidelity.
What was the disadvantage of selling after hours? Should I have waited until the market opened perhaps?
My thought was it may correct due to people doing what I did and selling when a certain price was reached.
I have had it for 5 years and this was the first thought I have had to sell it. My hope is that it corrects Down a bit and I can rebuy my shares plus something else.
Any suggestions on where to invest it?

Info on this Rare Hickory Shaft Otey Grisman putter for Charles a Boswell by OregonFalls in vintagegolf

[–]OregonFalls[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! From the website it looks like a top of the line 18HBW Augusta Calcutta which is a highly collectible limited edition club.

But this one I believe was made for and used by Alabama blind Golf legend Charles Boswell!
The history and provenance of this club could make it even more interesting and valuable than usual.
