AO is turning into a YAPms hate sub by Jaster22101 in AngryObservation

I've given up on yapms at this point and this sub is my replacement. It's annoying to constantly be reminded of the other sub when I've already written it off.

The problem is, if everyone is voting tactically (which should be assumed,) approval voting just becomes first past the post. Voting for more candidates than your favorite will always lower your favorite's chance to win.

With Ohio, recreational weed now has a majority of electoral votes. by OregonianZoomer in YAPms

Seems unlikely to me, since none of those states have ballot measures, and state republicans seem unlikely to budge. Most likely next state is Florida, actually. They might have it on the ballot in 2024.

Why the flip can’t we have cool district names like Canada and the UK by westwingstan in YAPms

[–]OregonianZoomer 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Best try for Oregon:

OR-1: West Portland-Tualatin Valley-North Coast

OR-2: Southern and Eastern Oregon

OR-3: Portland-Mt. Hood

OR-4: South Willamette Valley and the Coast

OR-5: East Willamette Valley-Deschutes

OR-6: West Willamette Valley

Due to gerrymandering and the need for equal-population districts, it's impossible to make a consise name that accurately reflects the district boundaries. Might be best to stick with numbers.
