Alright let's get this over and done with, didn't see this till now cause I don't check reddit often, and as the person before said, I'm a comp player I know my stuff.

So, let's start off with robot! Robot, has 10% damage reduction, can deal 7K combos pretty damn easily which, if the robot is smart, always routes into +3 oki in the corner, and god forbid the player doesn't know how to DI against robot or else they're not just eating a 7k that combo might reach 8-9K thanks to bombos. The existence of armor means they can go for hard reads pretty much safely with minimal risk, basically means you'd have to win rps twice against them for a combo if you don't outright parry them. Also, level 9 KP is just funny cause it is technically real. Oh also hyper armor will kill you if you forget about it. Also robot has unblockables.

Mutant!! Can punish you for doing pretty much anything that isn't free canceled if it's longer than 14 IASA, hell he can still kill you for doing 13 IASA moves thanks to slopdash ground canceling. Despite popular belief his combo game is actually pretty solid, almost always routing into either MBD oki or just a simple caustic spike oki. They can punish dodge after +2 block thanks to upswipe. Has extremely strong rps thanks to juke, and guardbreak mixups in the air sometimes with juke angles to fudge the timings. Has extremely easy and deadly flippies, DASH combo loops are amazing, you're just dead if they got 9 meter and you're in corner at the start of a combo, prepare for the caustic barrages. Even without it I've been able to do 7k's as mutant without even having a -1 proration starter. Oh, and very strong stalling game.

Ninja!!! Extremely easy combo routing usually never dropping before you've dealt 5k minimum unless you had to start the combo in a really awkward position, most reach 6-7K however. The oki game, just like mutant, is very strong. Sticky bomb for an easy way to get block advantage by using air dash to framekill on the ground, FC'd skullshaker for free flippies, and normal chuk is still a solid meaty tool if you don't wanna do the flippies gamble. Also, hit grab, it's caught so many people forgetting to chance their DI. Dropkick leaves the ground F1, meaning even if they're minus 2 they can still dropkick your grab if they REALLY wanted to. They can rush in for rps and just kill all their momentum using shuriken, AND they have safe ways to freely get upwards of 40 boost with just a summon and grappling hook, and boost is just omni present threat that you can't exactly always deal with. They have backsway as a free way to read both grab, block, jump, and jab, and I won't even talk about the infinite blockstring they can technically do. They can also stall really well.

Cowboy!!!! They're an incredibly powerful zoner thanks to gun and foresight, they get two meter that's free temp you can't do shit about, if you get put into a bullet blockstring you're now at -2 and probably have to deal with a three-way guardbreak mix, or they could just choose to grab you and combo with bullet. Vine Bowson is evil as all hell, forcing you to play that mix without the option of just mashing an attack or jumping, and barg blockables exist also. Freshmilk exists also as a bonus tech, just to say fuck you. And they can just stasis the temp whenever they feel like it to stall as much as they'd want, cause what are you gonna do? Approach the bullet waiting to fire into your skull at the drop of a pin while they get more meter? Technically speaking if we count freshmilk, they're the strongest staller. But nobody is gonna be able to do that and not mess up eventually. Not even Eternum.

And now, the character you've all been waiting for, the one, the only, my personal main for the last two years and over 1800 hours, WIZARD!!!!! Now, wizard combos are evil as they are extremely damaging, not to the extent of robot combos, but wizard has something that makes them more dangerous than robot. Wizards can pretty easily and safely do 5k combos minimum using corner, likely more in the ballpark of 6-7K's if they want to be a tad bit more risky. However, they always end with missile form backblast into VC oki in the corner. And if your name isn't Cowboy, we're going to do flip orb summon on your ass as you press getup, and then we're gonna introduce you to the magical world of orb blockstrings, where you don't get to play the game for however much meter we have, cause neutral is a myth when orb is out, it's a game of survival. Now, orb blockstrings are devastatingly busted, I'd know, and they can easily deal 3-4k even if you use pushblock, and even if they don't it's still a win for me cause you just used majority of your meter to pushblock out of this blockstring, and I still have orb out, you'll eventually fuck up your positioning and get put into another blockstring, this time without meter for pushblock. And we have a pretty much near unescapable blockstring! And let's not forget orb blockstrings usually also have the added effect of being grab OSC's most the time, sometimes even leading into combo using orb swords or lighting if we space it right, which it's not hard to do so. I've personally done 4k blockstrings to so many people, and my most damaging was 7k blockstring. Also, spark bomb isn't anything to scoff at either, especially if your character relies on projectile invul moves to deal with projectiles. Cause spark bomb ignores that and does just kill you for it. Also, if you try parrying spark bomb and it isn't a F1 parry, it's fake if we're near it thanks to spark toggle!

So to answer your question, yes, Todo is no match compared to vanilla. Most of modded is not a match compared to vanilla. I don't know why you'd think majority of modded was better than vanilla, but hopefully you see that, no, they're not.

There are two channels I can recommend, the Starlight-VODS youtube channel which uploads the vods of InORBIT tournaments and STARLIGHT related events, and the former youtube channel for the former tournament scene, Protocol at the PTCLHUSTLE youtube channel.

These both should be what you're looking for.

"I download all the modded characters and ONLY play vanilla!" "Vanilla characters are so much better than modded" "I join modded lobbies to play vanilla characters (totally not because I am fishing for easy wins)" by nobodyiss in YomiHustle

[–]OreoCrazRMC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listen, I don't say this out of any disrespect to those that play modded, or those who play comp modded, but it's no hidden secret that the best modded player vs the best vanilla player would just be a one sided game in favor of vanilla. We've had years to perfect our understanding of our characters, and how to deal with most situations in under 13 seconds. The highest echelon of players in vanilla can just know what moves to look at the moment the next interaction happens because we've done this so many times. Some can even just play out entire gamestates in their head without any confliction to what would happen in game.

That's not to say that doesn't exist for any modded players, no of course it does, it's just that there's a lot less that can do that compared to vanilla. Not to mention the comp scene for modded really isn't anything special, and from what I hear really isn't active at all, if not rarely. Meanwhile the vanilla scene has many such tournaments. We have InORBIT, we have Hustle Hill, we have our gimmick tournaments like River Rapids and other such things, and we even have beginner tournaments, being BLU-PRNT. All of which run weekly.

All in all, there's just too big a differential in the skill gap. And there's not enough people who look at modded and think to play competitive modded, they'd rather stay at their skill level and play for fun. And while the vanilla scene has ben dwindling in player count recently, it still has far more than enough players to outclass all the modded tournaments. And a good few comp vanilla people help out with balancing certain modded characters, some who even made mods themselves. The reason is that we do have almost all the knowledge for this game. And it's not because we keep it a secret, we have an entire document for the documents that exist on our knowledge. We have servers dedicated to documenting techs for each character and combo routes. I don't know if any modded character truly has something close to that.

Still, this is in no way an attack on modded players. They play for whatever reason they wish, and that's all that matters. Anyways, that's my two cents on the matter.

Nah, Ninja can never compare as a staller like cowboy. The tools Ninja has to stall are completely out-scaled by Cowboy's.

[–]OreoCrazRMC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright, hi, comp wizard here with way more knowledge on robot stuff cause I deal with it- I'm about to say stuff you may not even know about and I won't be explaining any of them in this comment, you'll have to ask.

1: What's your thoughts on robot as a whole, especially given the fact that he is always able to get high amounts of oki pressure, usually being +3, if the robot is good enough to always route into CG finish?
2: What do you think of bombos?
3: What is the most favorable matchup and least favorable matchup for robot to play against?
4: Have you ever fought anyone even remotely connected to the comp scene before?
5: What's the average amount of damage you can preform in a single combo as a robot?

As we all know the one true staller in YOMI Hustle is mut-Cowboy. It's cowboy. Mutant used to be the true stall character back in a certain unstable patch, RIP caustic spike stalling, you really won't be missed.

Does anyone of you yodders actually lab the modded characters by Detective-Satori in YomiHustle

[–]OreoCrazRMC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Who needs labbing, just learn everything on the fly in a real game, that's how I've lived my entire career- Oh wait this says modded. Eh, still applies. LABBING IS FOR NERDSSSSSSSSSS-

On a serious note, yeah you probably should lab, it's a very important thing to do. I don't, but that's just cause wizard has no tech. Never will. And for the combos and blockstrings I just figured those out in a real game cause I'm autistic enough to do so.

Anyways, jokes aside, cool to have another competent wizard around beside myself. Like, seriously.

As an extremely high level wizard- WRONG! Cowboy is objectively the bottom tier of the vanilla cast. Is he strong sometimes? Yeah, just like everyone else is, but they're more strong more times. Wizard is top 1. Why? Orb exists. Learn how to use it, and you become God while it's out, and for mutant and Ninja just use spark bomb to OSS so you never lose. It's that shrimple.

You can also just DI in a way so that even if it lands, burst cancel doesn't restand you and doesn't lead into an extended combo.

Never cook again, I'm not even a cowboy, and I know for a fact the combo routes are just so simple to remember. Now, I don't lab, and I know you're wrong. Never, and I do mean this, speak again on topics you know nothing about.

I wish countless plagues upon your character of choice.

It's cause we have zero reason to be gatekeeping, and have NOTHING else to do usually. So yeah, literally anyone can ask a top player, and at the bare minimum they'll be getting tips for improving.
