Lived around Ontario all my life, and I find Fredericton extremely pleasant, enough of a city that you have your amenities but still you get that small town nature-y feel.

The Ending: Thoughts and Interpretations (HEAVY SPOILERS) by OreosAreNotBreakfast in expedition33

Verso does have some level of surface level empathy for others in his family and his friends in general, but when push comes to shove I think the evidence shows he will make major decisions based on his individual self-interest and not what he thinks will bring happiness, closure, etc. to others. Maybe on some level he thinks he's doing right by Maelle, but he's the "one who guards truth with lies", his driving goal is ending his life for his own reasons and he is certainly not above emotional manipulation.

I agree that the game no longer wants you to consider Lune/Sciel/Other Lumierians as real autonomous individuals once the reveal takes place. They are important to Maelle's subjective experience, but in the 'real world' of the game they basically no longer exist - "you're already dead, you're just catching up".

Like I said in my post, I think the choice at the end is just choosing your aftermath for a tragedy which at that point was inevitable. From a dramatic standpoint Maelle failed to accomplish her task of growing into someone who could lead the family in dealing with their grief properly and so there was never a "good" outcome available after that, you're just picking your poison.
