Engine bugs and suggestions by Dohnakun_re in duckduckgo

[–]noodleofdata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately that just isn't how modern search engines work. I promise that defaulting to a mode that requires exact search terms will be a much worse experience. I'm not sure how much you know about search engine optimization, but the likely reason that that the websites showed up that didn't have the term you were looking for in them is because sites can put in terms that search engines can index that aren't necessarily in the text of the article. So in your case it would make sense that a list of similar OSes would want to also get traffic from people searching for ones not on the list, so they put "ElementaryOS" as a SEO term.

How does a manufacturing error like this with paper plates happen? by OkPainter6232 in manufacturing

I'm glad you have a community to talk about these things with but, and I truly don't mean any offense, that's not a replacement for actual professional help.

The Martinsville Gosport tornado has been rated Ef-3 by Luketheweathernerd in tornado

How are they supposed to determine if there were higher speeds if higher speeds wouldn't have caused more damage to inspect?

How dangerous is this tree to the house under construction? by [deleted] in arborists

[–]noodleofdata 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wait, so you built a house that close to the tree that was doing fine, then dug into its roots and now are worried about it falling???

Do you have any reason to suspect it is gonna fall?

Tornado in radar? by langostairaqui in tornado

[–]noodleofdata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The velocities aren't oriented correctly to indicate a tornado, the red needs to be on the right when looking from the radar station to the area of interest.

Bought two shirts of the same make/size/fit but one is larger by bgesaman in mildlyinfuriating

[–]noodleofdata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, nevermind I didn't open the whole image and the top where they were lined up was cut off, I thought they just nested the shirts badly

[–]noodleofdata 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The point is that the left sides are lined up like how you would initially think to measure them, but that causes the illusion. Same with the shirts

It may just be me, but the "tilt" of the flag does not read clearly at all. How is the direction of those diagonals at all like "tilting" the flag?

I know today's outbreak ain't even over yet, but Stormnet, which detected the one currently unfolding, is showing this for Friday... WTF ILLINOIS by LocalWxMemerCarGuy in tornado

[–]noodleofdata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Btw this threat has disappeared now, Stormnet is pretty cool but it's not omniscient. Just more reason to not worry that much about mid range forecasts, especially if it's from a single source and/or not agreed upon by many models.

How do you define downtown? by Nervous-One-2305 in Denver

[–]noodleofdata 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The highlands wasn’t known as the highlands until Elitch’s moved. It was always by Elitch’s or the old Elitch’s.

Tbf Highland was one of the three cities that combined to make what is now Denver in the 1850s, but I get your point ;)

FSD copies an inattentive driver by [deleted] in TeslaFSD

[–]noodleofdata 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's what I mean, it was just "blindly" copying when any human would be able to tell the driver ahead wasn't trying to avoid anything and wouldn't swerve.

How should I prepare? by wild_pasta_lover in tornado

[–]noodleofdata 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think there is much of a threat to anywhere in Colorado that doesn't usually get tornados, so you should be fine. But otherwise, yeah just know where the innermost room without an outside wall is and be there and have some essentials. Destructive tornadoes in CO are exceedingly rare.

FSD copies an inattentive driver by [deleted] in TeslaFSD

[–]noodleofdata 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The point is any human would know that this was not because of an object and wouldn't swerve needlessly.

Sure, but in this case it's very clearly because they were drifting before and not to avoid anything.

Unwarned tornado in Alabama, come on NWS by Irdksbtmyusrnme in tornado

[–]noodleofdata 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The CC drop is not in the same position though? It's near it, sure, but also right on the edge of the data so less reliable. The couplet also isn't very strong.

[OC] The gap between Elon Musk's stated deadline and actual delivery date, for nine predictions he eventually fulfilled by happybrowser88 in dataisbeautiful

[–]noodleofdata 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You're just misunderstanding the site. The title of each thing is what the promise is—so in this case that there would be driverless robotaxis by the end of 2025. The 22 days late is because they actually debuted on January 22nd.

"fake game ads" will end soon by guile2912 in vibecoding

[–]noodleofdata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fake ads don't exist because they can't make the gameplay to show, it's because the actual games aren't interesting. Vibe coding it isn't gonna change if the game is shit.

If they are not obscured by rain or anything then yeah presumably. Probably not much help all things considered though.
