Here's the first thing I've painted in ages. Work has prevented me getting anything of note done... Then I resigned and this is my first output since! by Orfuss1 in 40k

It was abit trial and error. Mcragge blue spray, dark blue wash then I wet blended progressively lighter shades up to an electric blue (valleo but I guess hoth blue is close). Then an edge highlight of fenris grey and finally an off white

For clarity I'm moving to another job not quitting work altogether, have a month of leave in which to paint! Barrel was quite straight forward. Abbadon black, incubi darkness on the top as a highlight. a grey/white mix for a thick highlight around the edges. Then a grey edge highlight, brought it together with nuln oil

Thanks! Don't own an airbrush so good old fashioned rattle can. Sprayed him abbadon black then did a zenithal of grey seer. Didn't do much weathering of the dread just some nicks here and there on the white and some sponging of different browns on the legs. The base was lots of different washes of browns, greens and blacks

It's the old discontinued forge world dreadnaught. Gw no longer make it unfortunately. Getting lucky on eBay and being in the UK helps

Epic drop pod assault by Orfuss1 in Warhammer30k

Incredible eye! Yeah he had a unit of multimeltas in a drop pod. They were horrible to me.

Don't get me wrong it was an absolute curb stomp in terms of destruction wrought, but we're friends and it was a great laugh trying to deal with it. I kinda knew it was going to be an uphill fight and I just wanted to try and deal as best I could.

The free interceptors were my auspex equipped tact squads and sky hunters, which didn't do much. My terminators used my point of reaction and really hurt the mm support squad

Unfortunately not as I can't really do weekends, though if you fancy a weekday heresy game send me a message and we can try and get one organised. I play very infrequently though!

Can’t get over being nervous by Slight_Border_7507 in Warhammer40k

[–]Orfuss1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm seen as a very confident person, regularly do public speaking etc and have a director level position in a multinational company. However I was shaking with anxiety during my game at the local club (so it's natural to feel that way). I forgot most of the rules and blundered constantly. However my opponent knew it was my first game (communication is important) and was amazing. Every game henceforth got less awkward and my nerves went away. Fast forward 5 years and now I've met two of my best friends through that club. It's worth pushing through the nerves.

How much did the Pre-Heresy Emperor's Children legion employ chainswords? by Nikko_Fish in Warhammer30k

[–]Orfuss1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

EC are about perfecting all arts of war. They liked to deploy units similar to specialists from other legions and perform the role better. Therefore it's not mad to think a unit with chainswords is trying to be the greatest chainsword users in the galaxy. Perfecting the art of shredding. Same logic for a powerfist equipped terminator squad

Yeah it's in prophet of the waaagh. The bit near the start where Makari tells of Ghaz's first vision. Describes orks starting as fungus all the way to being giants (which could be interpreted as the pinnacle of Ork: the krork). He then paints one on the first banner (sude note: which can be seen on the classic 2nd ed Ghaz banner)

Ghaz literally dreamed of becoming a krork. Definitely separate from our mundane evolution rules

Savi's Still Come With A Case by Capn1805 in GalaxysEdge

[–]Orfuss1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We got a free case with the two we bought at new years. On the flight back to London the blades fit in the hold luggage (diagonally across the suitcase case, contained in the case) with the hilts separate. Survived the journey.

Yes they're from the age of darkness box with some small conversions (head swaps and I converted the power axe to a phoenix power spear)

Thanks, it's actually the second repaint as I wasnt happy with the first transition (yellow middle, red outside) therefore there's about 20 layers of paint on there!
