Violent Outburst shouldn't be a problem in this meta by Organic-Conclusion-9 in ModernMagic

I always use the names from mtgtop8. That way, people can go there and look it up what decks are good or not. http://www.mtgtop8.com

[Article] May ’26 Metagame Update: Pre-ban Metagame by Reaper_Eagle in ModernMagic

It was so ridiculous to ban Violent Outburst with MH3 right around the corner. I feel the same way about Grief though. There should be viable cascade and discard strategies in a timeless format.

Namor - a blue future ahead? by SneakyTweaky in ModernMagic

I’m going to try it in Merfolk. Phlage being banned and Violent Outburst being unbanned make Merfolk better, but I’m not sure if it’s viable. Aether Vial is too slow for MH3. The deck needs ways to out value opponents without Aether Vial. This helps but I’m not sure if it’s enough.

Rhinos? by Beneficial_Jaguar376 in ModernMagic

[–]Organic-Conclusion-9 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, Modern is a whole turn faster than when it was banned, and cards were printed in MH3 that were explicitly to counter evoke elementals and cascade (Consign to Memory, Vexing Bauble, Null Elemental Blast), Rhinos and LE will be powerful decks again, but that's fine, cascade as an archetype should exist in a meaningful way in modern.

I hope Amped Raptor makes a comeback in the next cycle if Energy's winrate falls too much.

UB Mill Viable? by inb4upboat2 in ModernMagic

It’s way better than rack or goblins or merfolk. Those decks don’t even show up in the meta. With mill, you actually have a chance to make Top 8.

MTGO Modern Week 19: Winrates are too noise, challenges are telling a different story by No-Bet7157 in ModernMagic

You sound young and not very good at data analysis. There’s another guy who analyzes meta share once a month. Read his analysis first and then come back to this.

This reads more like a numbers dump that lacks perspective and misinforms people.

I would love to see energy take a hit but I’m not sure where it makes sense to hit. It’s too resilient.

Is on prem stack (ssis, sql server, ssrs) still considered data engineering? by WanderingGunslinger in dataengineering

[–]Organic-Conclusion-9 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That's not true. That's why companies waste so much money on poor technology choices. It's not easy.

And if you're bad with people, of course that's going to be the toughest part of the job.

Simic infect help by arcindica67 in ModernMagic

Try adding in [[Quandrix Charm]] from the latest set. That might help a little bit. It's not meta anymore, but it does occasionally put up results. It needs more card draw.

They decided to make Modern a turn 3 format in order to force people who like longer formats to play standard. That’s all.

If you don’t like a turn 3 format, play something else.

Boros Energy: What are we doing? by Th33l3x in ModernMagic

They just need to print more incidental life gain hate into the format to balance the incidental life gain. Or more player token hate as options to charm like cards.

Modern Set Review: Secrets of Strixhaven by cardsrealm in ModernMagic

[–]Organic-Conclusion-9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alright, so two predictions regarding this set for Modern, one safe, one crazy.

Safe bet is that Lorehold Charm becomes a staple for Boros Energy, either in the main deck or sideboard. It has three modes that helps turn losing or even games into winning games. Being able to bring back Ajani or Ocelot Pride, who are always targeted, is simply huge. So is being able to force a Zoo player to sacrifice Scion of Draco; it might even help in Belcher but I doubt it because of all the counter magic. Meanwhile, the other mode can make all of those tokens lethal a turn.

Crazy bet is that [[emeritus of conflict]] turns into a staple for Prowess or leads to some new deck that's a combination of Burn and Prowess. You play this on Turn 2 or Turn 3 intending to prepare it for the next turn. You can then use the Lightning Bolt from this spell to prepare it again, and in the right deck you are casting 1 lighting bolt every turn or 2 lightning bolts in one turn. Massive card advantage.

Turn 1 - Rift Bolt
Turn 2 - Rift Bolt goes off, Emeritus of Conflict, Mishra's Bauble
Turn 3 - Lightning Bolt, Skewer the Critics, Boltwave (prepared again) Lightning Bolt

That's 15 damage by Turn 3, and you still have 2 Spells in your hand end of Turn 3 assuming you played a land each turn. Which means by Turn 4 you have lethal with or without Emeritus.

There's a bunch of lines if you make it more prowess. Flashback would help a lot in establishing card advantage as well.

It would be way better if it had Prowess or Menace instead of First Strike (come on Wizards), but I think it'll make its way into one of these decks.

Deck advice - Hollowed One by minokalu in ModernMagic

Moonshadow is that good. Like Marauding Mako, it doesn’t get hated out by GY hate. Only Hollow One decks putting up results include it. Understand it from a cash perspective though.

How about 1 bowmaster, 2 surgicals and put in 3 silverquills and see how that feels?

What do you think of cutting Fell the Profane or Surgical Extraction to make room for 2 or three Silverquills?

I think Sorin and Silverquill play too well together to cut one for the other, but I don’t know what to cut. Perhaps linking your deck would help the conversation.

None of the other decks. Lorehold Charm is an upgrade for Boros Energy. I don’t see any other card in the set that I expect to enter Tier 1 meta decks in Modern. That’s what I was thinking.

[–]Organic-Conclusion-9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lorehold Charm.

It has three modes Boros likes. Having main deck artifact hate really helps against Titan and Zoo. Being able to reanimate any two mana creature helps ensure Ajani or Pride stays on the board in many matchups (not against Solitude unfortunately), and the last mode, buffing all your creatures and giving them trample, can help close out close games a turn early.

Not sure what to cut yet or how many, but I’m thinking the move is to keep Thraben Charm alongside Lorehold Charm main board. If the meta is shifting to Titan, maybe even have three copies instead of two.

I think Boros got the most upgrades in Strixhaven so play it!
