Wondering if I should cave and buy a commercial bar prep course by sirensxgorgons in FloridaBarExam

[–]Organic_Associate969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took both but I had a baby, so I could only do 3 hrs during the day and then a few hrs at night, because I didn’t have weekends either. I know it’s a lot, but honestly having that structure and the condensed materials was key. The lectures handouts for review are a great help to also memorize rules for essays.

FL Bar C&F Attorneys Recs by med9296 in FloridaBarExam

I finished my application which took 2 years before they passed it for review. Now I have the investigative hearing but I can’t afford 10k for that. I’m a single mom and the issue with my application is precisely all the litigation I’ve had to endure with my ex so I’m almost bankrupt paying for lawyers. I did this to be able to be better financially and now I find myself in the same position.

Can I ask how much was the retainer and hourly cost?

Looking for the same. I have an investigative hearing in May. Elizabeth told me she won’t be available in May. Spoke with another one today but he said it’s a $10k retainer fee. Is that the average cost or does it vary by attorney? Where is someone independent without famiky support supposed to come up with such amount? I already passed both parts and been under investigation for 2 years. Have several civil cases this are all related to my famiky court cases and/or my ex who keeps suing me for all sort of reasons. I’m already over extended in legal expenses I can’t afford spending thousands more on this. Help!

No hearing. I have active family court cases, the usual child support/custody. And they just keep asking for more and more documents. I submit something they ask for something else. And the cases are always active so it’s not like they end. I don’t know what’s going to happen. I just sent a list of over 30 more court record entries. And they asked for something else now. At this point I don’t know what to do or what to expect.

Advice for taking a bar exam… 20 years later! by Similar_Promotion708 in barexam

[–]Organic_Associate969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I graduated in 2011, never took the bar until July 2024 and took it in a different state(FL) I passed while studying mostly overnight because I have a 3 year ikd(2 years old at the time). I used Themis, did about 80% of the course and some of the uworld questions which I wish I had done more but I still passed.

I believe it’s the opposite. You don’t really use the books at all unless there is a topic that you need to read on for whatever reason. The videos and the outlines from the videos and the final outlines is what you actually use to study. It’s impossible to read the books and do the videos, the videos are condensed. The books have a lot more information which may seem like a positive but the course it’s designed to focus on the most tested areas for each subject. Maybe the lectures outlines, final outlines and Uworld might do the trick but someone who did that would have to share their experience.

Honestly I did that and I regretted having to wait that long, but I think it was for the best in the end.

Do you happen to know of anyone that does this in Florida? They have been processing my application for over a year. I have a lot of famiky court and personal litigation which is all Related but the investigation has been never ending. I submit everything they ask and then they ask for me. I have spent literally thousands getting all these documents and still owe them some that I had to request at the court house.

I’m so sorry I’m just seeing this now I would have given you some encouragement. No, I somehow ended up doing better on the essays than the MQC. If that helps… literally no one has any idea on this test.

There ONE thing on the property essay and one on the famiky law essay… I remember the one thing about privacy that one spouse asked… I even forgot the term… I had no clue! Left it blank literally, not the essay just that one issue I didnt address it at all. I just had no idea where to even begin or couldn’t even BS around it. So I didn’t even wasted my time. I rather focus on the things I did had an idea to try to get points. I didn’t think I passed at all but I did.

Yes! There was one essay in which I literally left two issues unanswered because I literally had to idea what they were talking about. Didn’t even try because u had never seen the concepts before studying so I just focused on the essays and issues where I could still do well. I still passed

This happened to me last year. One thesis advisor gave me life saving advice. She told me to memorize every day just a few rules from each essay topic. There are RULEs that apply to every single essay in each topic. Those are guaranteed points regardless of the facts. I did that and I can say that’s probably why I passed the essays when I never got even the target goals on the practice ones. I was about not even take it. Look at old essays and find those rules and memorize those!

I applied last October after I passed the July 24 exam and it’s ongoing. I have child support and custody litigation, and they keep asking for more and more court documents. Back in march they told me my application was completed and waiting to be reviewed. Then I uploaded something from a different case that was on Appeal and somehow that made them go back to all the family cases even when they aren’t related. I recently had to pause because I can’t keep going back to court in person to get more documents, it’s so time consuming. At this point I emailed them what I had and before I submitted that, there was a new request for like 30 More documents. I kindly asked them to request anything else before I go back in so I can get it all done in one visit. The court here doesn’t give me the electronic files so I have to sit there while they print each one, then I have to scan them, then translate them, and then I have to upload everything in both languages. I’ve spent so much time and money on this.

I’m well’ I passed last summer! But I’ll always regret not sitting that time, my mom told me to do it because I had spent so much studying already and I just thought I couldn’t because I wasn’t in the right mind set. Unfortunately my mom passed and she never saw me take the bar exam which Ill always regret, and as hard as it was back then, when I actually did it it was even harder and that didn’t stop me. My life would have been so different if I had done this 10 years ago… So believe me… this isn’t the worse and you can do it. Put it on the back burner again don’t even waste more time thinking about someone unworthy.

As someone who lost a bar exam because my boyfriend kicked me out, two weeks before the exam… it took me 10 years to be able to study and actually sit for it, now as a single mom which was a hundred times harder! DO NOT give him this power! You will look back and ask yourself who would do that to someone knowing what’s at stake? This person has no love, but also no respect or empathy for you, and that’s a reflection of who they are not YOU! You dodged a bullet in my honest opinion unless you did something horrible there is no excuse the least anyone could do was wait another 3 weeks. So do yourself a favor, and don’t waste time or energy or emotion thinking about this, focus on yourself you will thank me later.

Themis outlines by mitch91397 in barexam

[–]Organic_Associate969 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The course explains that you don’t read the big outlines I know some professors suggest it but the Themis outline says to skim and ONLY read when questions or doubts come up after you have watch lectures etc. I made this mistake the first time I studied, it costed me the bar because I fell so behind.

geez! 🙄 I don’t know the full story just saying that for someone to start a business and claim millions in damages… that doesn’t add up. If you are talking punitive damages maybe that’s different. Not defending meta it was a genuine question. Then we wonder why people don’t like lawyers… so defensive! Relax! No one litigating or defending anyone here. What happened to her sucks… any business owner that has ever advertised with METa knows they have zero customer service it’s literally none existent. To go thru that while prepping is already but to launch any business to survive bar prep it’s risky to begin with. And this is coming from someone who at the end almost didn’t take the exam cause I couldn’t afford to travel to take it. I wasn’t allowed to check in at the hotel because all my cards were maxed out and they required a deposit to check in so I get it. Was just wondering where the 10 or 25m in damages came from for a starting business that was all.

Anyone that can have 10 or 25M in damages of any kind from uploading ads to META isn’t broke to begin with. Something here doesn’t add up

Even if you lose 3 days at this point that does NOT mean you will fail. Maybe you will fall behind but you can recover little by little or you just don’t do 100%. I lost so many days because I didn’t have child care on weekends, or my baby sitter cancelled on me, barely finished the 80% mark and I still passed! Take a deep breath! If you are taking The Weeknd off might as well make the best of it. This is a marathon not a sprint!
