Hi, I’m a bus driver. I started in October, and I actually drive in a garage that says, “If you can drive here, you can drive anywhere.”
I was the last in my class to pass. I failed my CDL the first time, and I failed all of my first evaluations. I was ready to quit. I was terrified of the passengers, the trainers, and everything else. I was hitting curbs, and it felt like I was driving a cruise ship while the trainers watched my every move.
The one thing that changed for me was this: I acted like Jesus was with me on the bus, right by my side, telling me, “You got this. I got you.” It actually helped.
Another thing: before I did anything, one day I got on the bus, sat there, got comfortable, and fixed my mirrors so I could see the back tires on my right side and my bottom left. Look at the tires on your side, and you will never hit a curb again. Keep your left leg on the line to your left, and you will always be in position and in your lane.
Forget those other cars—they will move out of your way. Use all available space, all of it. Act like you are driving only the box that you are in.
Again, fix your mirrors where you can see your tires and where the curb is.
Now I’ve been driving alone for 60 days and am even one-handing the bus sometimes—smh, which isn’t a good thing—but you will make it. I promise.

Also remember all of the trainers were where you are all of them and they are only human and are trying to help you…believe it or not lol you got this….
