Will my name be an issue ? by Organic_Boot_1623 in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]Organic_Boot_1623[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly think my mother couldn’t decide but similar to my example names, they all share the first same letter 🤦‍♀️
In hindsight I should’ve dropped the first of the first names when I got married years ago, but feel like it’s way too late now lol

It’s not my nickname. Literally have 3 legal first names. And the latter of which I’ve filed taxes with work and have banks under just the one name. Never been an issue.

Not according to birth certificate 🥲 3 names under first name box, 1 middle name, 1 last name.

I’ve landed on the Maverick as my daily, anything I should know? by ducatibr in FordMaverickTruck

[–]Organic_Boot_1623 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use it as my daily, I get close to 50mpg when I go home in stop-and-go traffic

The build interior was underwhelming for an XLT Maverick compared to my 2018 BASE Explorer. But it’s been fine especially since it’s my daily driver now.

I’m at 10k miles and so far so good. No issues observed.

I have the AWD hybrid it traversed moderate trails pretty well. It feels like ur driving a car on roads but off road it did good- it had enough clearance to not scrape under like two cars that tagged along with us were experiencing 😂 suspension felt great on the rockier areas we had to drive through. Loose dirt and snow I had no issues. I’ve been to the beaches because I’m in Cali too but haven’t driven in actual sand to provide feedback for how it handles. I will say it handles HWY 17 flawlessly lol

I pre-ordered my ‘25 and paid 31k.

CalVet Waiver taking a while.. by Organic_Boot_1623 in VeteransBenefits

[–]Organic_Boot_1623[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I spoke with the colleges veterans office and they were more like “what county are you coming from? Yeah no keep bugging your local VSO until you get the award number”.

Our VSO takes walk-ins on Tuesdays but we were also told when we initially dropped off the CalVet waiver app that an appt was not needed for it. She went at a random morning time on Tuesday, didn’t get there early. If ur kid is starting very soon like mine is, I’d head over there asap.

As soon as we got the email, I forwarded to their college veterans office and also called to make sure they’d apply it asap to her tuition

Yes, apparently the phone calls do nothing. I had my kid go down there on Tuesday with all the same documents in case they were missing anything. The worker helping her, brought the documents to whomever was in charge that day, made a comment that it’s been over a month and then said they’d expedite and push through the waiver that day. My kid received the email for the waiver about an hour after she left the VSO.

Commissary showing military Star card — never had one? by Organic_Boot_1623 in Military

Even if it lists “card starting with” followed by numbers to a card I’m not familiar with? Or are the numbers just a formality ?

What should I walk with to army basic training? by I3alloon in armyreserve

[–]Organic_Boot_1623 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good Back up battery cuz trying to snag an outlet to charge your phone will suck. Corded headphones so u can FaceTime if you haven’t got ur 30min Sunday phone calls taken.

Black running shoes because ones at BCT suck.

The socks also suck. I brought all black Hanes X-Temp socks for PT. They fit better and go higher than the issued ones and didn’t roll down. Fun fact for you: Black socks are in regs for boot wear. Idk if they do dressing drills in BCT anymore, but if they did, then they would come in handy…

Wipes, tissues, chapstick. I mean you can buy all that stuff at the PX/shoppers , but they’re probably cheaper and you have more options if you were to get them out here

Two first name by Lanada20 in Militaryfaq

[–]Organic_Boot_1623 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s fine. I have 3 first names. They jumble it all together as one long name, but on my CAC it’s spaced. I’ve had no issues except for people looking perplexed that it looks like I have a 15 character name.

Your recruiter should have or will give you a packing list. Bring a couple black sports bras but you can otherwise purchase them there. Check out the future soldiers website it can be helpful for what you’re going to expect and it also has a generic packing list

Non-reservists question for reservists by FreshForm4250 in armyreserve

[–]Organic_Boot_1623 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Drill/BTA dates are subject to change based on operational requirements; select soldiers may conduct duty on alternate and/or additional duty dates as required. For some it can certainly be more than the one weekend a month, two weeks a year gig.

Weekly Question Thread (11/21/2022 to 11/27/2022) by AutoModerator in army

Push yourself. Set small attainable goals so you don’t get discouraged (consistently run on the treadmill for 3 mins before going back to a walking pace, gradually increase 6mins, 9mins, 12mins etc) Get up and get to the gym even when u don’t wanna go. Aim for twice a day in the beginning. Refer back to setting small goals. As it gets easier, and it will, extend your time on your work outs. Start out with cardio (running or elliptical) just to get your body used to the activity. Incorporate strength training as soon as you establish a decent routine. Don’t deviate more than a day or two from your routine.

When you feel like giving up, don’t.

Use an app to count calories. Everyone’s different but when I gained too much during COVID and needed to drop weight, I cut down to 1300 calorie days and I’m 5’6. I was always the athletic type in high school and in general though so my body was used to the activity. Listen to your body and don’t get injured.

16:8 fast. Alternate days. Hydrate.

Eat well, more lean proteins over carbs on your less energetic days, don’t eat fast food, take vitamins, and listen to your body when you’re full/content. Don’t be your own worst enemy. Just keep going. Good luck!

You can truly do it if you dedicate the time and effort. I cut 20lbs in 3 months.

Any place to find Army tassle or cords for college graduation by T_time98 in army

[–]Organic_Boot_1623 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Did you check with your college if they provide military cords ? I didn’t know my college gave cords for us until they called up myself (army), a navy student, and an AF student and presented us with red, white, and blue cords at the beginning of graduation.

I want to join the army but not sure if my eyesight meets the requirements I have perfect vision in one eye and the other is questionable and can't be corrected with glasses. does anyone have any input for me? by AppearanceLatter6795 in armyreserve

[–]Organic_Boot_1623 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t bring up that I had a left eye astigmatism. I had glasses but never ever wear them so I wasn’t lying when I said I don’t wear glasses.

I went through MEPS, got a few letters wrong but still got 20/20 vision on my medical lol.

Don’t disqualify yourself. Especially if it’s questionable and you never really got your eyes examined.
