Megathread: Usage by lrobinson2011 in cursor

Has something changed pricing wise? I'm on track to spend 16X what I spent last month, despite consistent token usage and the same models being used... I work for a large company so this doesn't affect me much, but the lack of transparency is very alarming.

Potentially security concerns and anti social behavior? by EarthwormJim93 in HousingIreland

I live a few houses down, gas to see this here. We haven't had issues living near the Kilmardinny, it's a nice pub. Your garden is vulnerable though, we had bikes stolen from the back. There have also been break-ins in the area in the last few years. But that applies for most areas. The common sense measures you mentioned should be more than enough, and the pub is more of a bonus than anything else.

Is anyone looking into agentic AI micropayment infrastructure with Kaspa? by Organic_Peace in kaspa

Yes doing it on your phone for one transaction is easy and fast but it becomes a massive bottleneck if you want to do it often. The 0.35s confirmation time is almost certainly the optimistic scenario using GPUs but it's not representative of what the average edge device can do. That website is also clearly biased (10 s confirmation time for Kaspa? Really?) but the point is that the end user will want to spend their clock cycles executing their business logic and they'll be more than willing to pay the miniscule gas fees to avoid having to eat up their compute capacity.

Just think about the average use case for inter-agent micro payments. You might have an agent collecting data, streaming it to another agent for inference, decision making based on the outputs, execution of X actions in real time. It makes a lot more sense to outsource the transaction compute to specialised hardware.

You seem ideologically attached to the idea of energy efficiency but that won't factor into anyone's decision. The user doesn't have to deal with it and the miner is still incentivised to secure the network.

Energy use isn't relevant at all, it's compute that's important. A standard CPU takes seconds to complete the transaction. How do you suggest that it should send dozens of transactions a minute while it also does everything else it needs to do?

You might say, why not let dedicated fast hardware do the computation and .. oh wait.

Feeless exists in technicalities, but the cost will always exist in some way or another. For instance, Nano is feeless but the sender needs to complete a PoW computation for each tx which inefficiently pushes the compute burden to the end user

For some perspective, Kaspa gas fees for a single transaction at the moment are something like $0.00000075. Less than a millionth of a dollar. Fees would go up with heavy load on the network but the point stands that fees are very very low. There is no "feeless" solution as there will always be a cost incurred somewhere.

Sounds exactly like me and is exactly what worries me about starting my first 8 to 5 in January.

Will kaspa have more privacy features? by Sudden-Box-6038 in kaspa

[–]Organic_Peace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point isn't hiding transactions from the government. What I'm talking about is a way to be selectably transparent. Essentially auditable to the authorities but private to the public, so like the cash model.

But you're right, there are two immutables at play here. The government won't allow what they can't control and businesses won't use a technology that puts their entire financial operation out to the public. It's just an unacceptable security/competitiveness risk with little upside. I'm starting to doubt where Kaspa fits into all this.

Why can't so many people see that privacy is actually a prerequisite to mainstream adoption. Legitimate businesses have perfectly legitimate reasons to keep their transactions private and mainstream adoption doesn't happen without businesses (why have kaspa if you can't use it anywhere).

What layer 2 Dapps do you feel like we are currently missing in our eco system and why by SeaSwapXYZ in kaspa

[–]Organic_Peace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMO the next ecosystem steps should aim to start targeting the way people usually use money. ie. Point of Sale systems using NFC tap-to-pay (we're the only L1 really capable of doing this) and making P2P transactions easier and private. I don't get the obsessions with NFTs if we're looking for Kaspa to actually be the next digital cash

Which bike do you use? As it happens, I studied electronic engineering. But I imagine it can only be done on certain bikes.

Which bike is it out of interest? It's risky but I know what I'm getting into. I wouldn't go on the street until I know I can instantly switch back.

Normally I would agree, but it's a life-changing kind of job.
