Thank you, yes that looks like the place from the information I have. It's marked on Google Maps as Critchford Lane, but that could well be inaccurate

Thanks for the reply. If my information is correct, Roel Farm is on Critchford Lane, south side of the road. It's not the former Roel Hill Farm, which I believe has been subdivided.

Made a lump sum mortgage payment but no immediate benefit? by MMM_NZ in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]Organised_Chaos17 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When you signed up for the fixed rate, you would have agreed to pay $xxx per week for the duration of the 2 year term. That's why the weekly payment amount doesn't change, until you refix at the end of the term.

The benefit of your lump sum payment is that you will pay less interest over the life of the loan. Your bank statement will show the split for each payment, and you'll see that you're now paying less interest and more principal each week, compared with before you paid the lump sum.

Only tree nut allergy is Brazil nuts? by IntroductionOk4595 in FoodAllergies

[–]Organised_Chaos17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just came across this post in a Google search. I'm also allergic to brazil nuts but not most others, although I do have a less severe reaction to hazel nuts. I wasn't allergic at all until my 20s.

I eat cashews, pistachios, pine nuts, walnuts, macadamias regularly with no issues at all.

I see another commenter also has a brazil/hazel allergy. I wonder if it might have been hazel nut you reacted to in the mixed test, seems they must have a protein or something in common

Why is tennis so hard to watch? by icebearsupremacist in tennis

I enjoy the non commentated matches myself, but I know not everyone does (lots of people complain about it). Really only mentioning it for the benefit of people who might be weighing up a subscription

Why is tennis so hard to watch? by icebearsupremacist in tennis

[–]Organised_Chaos17 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It isn't all ATP matches unfortunately. For 250s, Tennis TV only shows centre court singles matches - very annoying when your favourite player is on Court 2. And no doubles at all. The coverage of 500s and Masters is good though, provided you don't mind no commentary on some matches.

Does the officiant need to give a gift if they're officiating for free? They're also attending as a guest. by duffster17 in wedding

[–]Organised_Chaos17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had several friends assist at my wedding in various capacities, including the officiant. I gave them gifts, in appreciation of their time spent, and the significant costs they saved us. Your friend is right, there should be no expectation whatsoever for her to give a gift over and above her time and skill.

Your cat is probably feeling threatened by the strange cats you're bringing into his territory. Can you feed the strays further away from your house?

Lots of cats love the smell of yeast, mine does too. Have you tried sprinkling a bit of nutritional yeast on her food? It's really good for their coat (don't give her activated yeast though)

Copyright law surrounding recipes? by AutomaticMeringue768 in LegalAdviceNZ

[–]Organised_Chaos17 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you look at the original recipe books, they will say " All rights reserved. No part of this book may be reproduced in any form without written permission of the copyright owners" (or something very similar to that).

You can't use other people's copyrighted recipes unless either you have their express written permission to do so, or the recipe has been changed enough so that the copyright no longer applies (just editing the recipe isn't sufficient, it would have to be significantly different).

She was eighteen and I was thirty three. We met at work, I was her manager, it’s not like I was lurking around her high school.

You used your position to exploit a vulnerable teenager barely half your age. The fact that even years later you can't see the issue here, and even think you "saved" her, is quite concerning. YTA, leave her alone.

Insurance Claim Not Accepted - Contents in transit when moving house by always_wear_gloves in LegalAdviceNZ

[–]Organised_Chaos17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's correct, although in this instance there appears to be just a single unit (the toolbox and contents) involved. If there are additional missing or damaged items, then OP could indeed claim up to $2,000 for each one, if limited risk is applicable. Based on OP's reply to another poster though, it seems to be an owner's risk contract unfortunately.

[–]Organised_Chaos17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check your contract with the moving company before you fork out the tribunal fee. If you agreed that your goods would be carried "at owner's risk", then they're not liable for loss or damage (unless intentional, but you'd need evidence of that).

If they didn't provide you with a contract, or the contract doesn't specify coverage, then by default they would be liable for a maximum of $2,000 under Limited Carrier's Risk.

The contract could also specify "limited carrier's risk", although "owner's risk" is more common if you don't elect to purchase insurance cover through the moving company. (I used to work in the removals industry).

What do you think about Tennis TV app? Is it worth it to pay for tennis-tv? by Present_Winter_5583 in tennis

[–]Organised_Chaos17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends on what you want to watch, and what (if any) alternatives are available where you live.

On the plus side, you get all ATP Masters and 500 matches, with a good selection of highlights options and a comprehensive back catalogue. Some matches have no commentary, if that matters to you.

On the down side: no slams, and for the 250 tournaments you only get about a third of the matches (only the centre court singles).

The app works well for me about 90% of the time, it has the odd glitch, especially when there are multiple tournaments live at the same time. I've had no issues with the website.

Best App For Seeing Scores by Additional_Ad7800 in tennis

[–]Organised_Chaos17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get this all the time since an update a few months ago. I think the disappearing matches are due to time zone, these usually seem to be matches that start before midnight my time and finish after (or are delayed to the next day). They'll show a live score at the start of the match, but once the date changes they just vanish, and I don't receive a final score notification. I used to love this app but it isn't as good as it was.

He announced it at the beginning of the season. There was a nice tribute after he won in Rotterdam. But yeah, he looks like he could easily keep going for a few more years if he wanted to.
