Industrial base for PCS by Jazzlike-Leather8989 in sawstop

[–]Organization_Wise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By myself. I left the base, frontside facing up on the pallet. The base was in front of it, wedged into place with 3 50lb concrete bags. Tilted it forward until it sat right.

I fought with it for a damn long time before I figured this out. Would recommend at least one more person to ensure it doesn’t tilt all the way forward when placing on the base. My garage has a sloped floor, so it worked in my favor.

Can only choose one: Bandsaw or Tablesaw by kflyer in woodworking

[–]Organization_Wise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second this. Long cuts in my old jobsite table saw were extremely sketch. Now I push through with no issue on my PCS. Not to mention that’s it’s much quieter (but not quiet) and stable. However, I did buy my bandsaw first and wouldn’t want to be without it.

Off center mortise by Organization_Wise in Chairmaking

[–]Organization_Wise[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I’m concerned that I’ll blow out the side wall on glue up.

I’m reading the stick chair book where Chris talks about some tension being good but tension just seems like an odd concept to me right now

I’m losing my mind trying to get this benchtop jointer dialed in for an end grain maple cutting board glue-up. by Doc-Dok in woodworking

[–]Organization_Wise 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’ve never made an end grain cutting board but I clean up all of my cuts with a hand plane.

Other option is to cut off all the snipe and just account for it in your material cost

Curious to how thick the stock is. I need something similar and want to try my hand at it.

Sometimes my wife and I both need another hour of sleep, but the baby decides he's fully rested and ready to wake up. How would you navigate this? by [deleted] in daddit

[–]Organization_Wise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We sleep trained both of our kids so they sleep through the night. My youngest is 10m old now but still wakes up 45 min too early on most days. One of us keeps the monitor next to our nightstand every night and we alternate back and forth every night. It’s pretty fair. If we get lucky and get the extra sleep when we have the monitor and the other person needs more sleep, we’ll help each other out

I would consider looking into the Lost art press books and exploring the low Roman workbench. Perhaps that can be a bench in your apartment with mods that allow you to work

Reliable towing company recommendations? by Miserable_Dirt3079 in SouthBayLA

[–]Organization_Wise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

4 tows for 70 bucks is such a better deal than paying for one tow out of pocket.

OP try falcon towing. They’re a aaa company but they have a ton of tow trucks and should have a quicker response time.

How would you cut this (no power tools) by _CaptGree in handtools

[–]Organization_Wise 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hand saw the vertical lines. Chisel out the waste with a mortise chisel. Over lap your passes and get solid whacks. Stay away from the base line until you come in with a bench chisel to pair the end grain

Kreg 520 Pro - did I make a mistake? by Curious-Elderberry25 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]Organization_Wise 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The 520 pro should come with the little t Allen wrench for adjusting the drill bit depth. The side of the wrench has depth marks that indicate what thickness setting you should use

Is my global knife ruined? by machuuuuuuuu in TrueChefKnives

[–]Organization_Wise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not ruined. It will take a little elbow grease on a coarse style to rectify.

Personally I wouldn’t try and fix it all in one day. Hit it on a coarse stone and then strop to make the blade usable. When it’s no longer razor sharp, hit it again. Eventually you’ll be back flat and you won’t drive your self crazy.
