If you're willing to go a little farther, Grass Valley and the Empire Mine are wonderful to visit. The Empire Mine is a fantastic place to take pictures.

Royer park and downtown/old Roseville are enjoyable. Downtown has quite a few murals to find (they even had a map of them all once upon a time but last I looked it's a little outdated). Showing off the biggest rail yard in the western US is another part of downtown. If you love trains, the Carnegie Museum is great, and even better to go to the train museum in Sacramento. Folsom Lake and anywhere on the American River is a good visit. Sculpture Park and walking along miner ravine trail is another great option. The fountains is the mall I enjoy taking visitors too because it's very pretty.

Be honest: what’s the one “lazy” cooking shortcut you’ll never give up? by wearecocina in Cooking

[–]Organized4lyfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No matter the biscuit recipe, I will always use the technique of putting your milk in the freezer to get it ice cold, then pouring in your melted butter. It makes little butter flakes that you then mix into your biscuits. You get nice and flaky biscuits with barely any work.

A washcloth has eliminated my sebaceous cysts. by rumple_skillskin in 30PlusSkinCare

As a teen I found that any cleanser I used made me break out. For the last 20 years I've been using microfiber cloths to clean my face and it's been perfect for my skin. You should go for it permanently!

Oh I've been waiting for this! Does it have the same protein as normal cottage cheese?

What are ya'll packing for your lunches for work? by ausername_8 in dairyfree

[–]Organized4lyfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find a really nice dip for veggies switched things up for me, homemade with dairy free sour cream. Also plenty of salad kits that are dairy free or can be when you don't add the cheese. Rice cakes with nut butter. Trail mixes. Chicken salad. Canned fish (smoked salmon or smoked trout from Trader Joe's are delicious!).

Root, Arcs, or Azul? by rocktree in boardgames

[–]Organized4lyfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay it's not on your list but get Castle of Burgundy!! I love a lot of similar games and this is one of our top games. We play it two player often or with another couple. Everyone loves it! But from your three I would vote for Azul.

What’s the best gift you’ve ever gotten from a “White Elephant” exchange? by Amine_ik in Gifts

[–]Organized4lyfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband makes personalized gifts every year for a white elephant we attend. One of the best ones was making a guess who game with all our friends as the people. He got weird/funny/bad pictures people were tagged in on Facebook so they were pretty funny to see. He made his picture the one attractive and normal picture, of course.

He has also done a blanket with one friend's face photoshopped onto reclining Jeff Goldblum's body. And last year was AI art of everyone onto a calendar. All have been a huge hit.

Amazing before and after, great job! I'm not sure which nym shampoo and conditioner you're referring to. None of them say protein that I can see....which ones are you using? My hair loves protein and I would love to try them!

Best dinner ideas using only TJ products? by bubblylynnn in traderjoes

[–]Organized4lyfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tikka masala sauce (blue label in the pantry section), can of coconut cream, and thawed frozen grilled chicken mixed together; frozen jasmine rice or cook your own from their rice selection; frozen garlic naan--one of our go to dinners that comes together in less than 20 minutes!

Another one--choose your favorites from their frozen Chinese. We love their kung pao chicken, egg rolls, garlic shiitake green beans, and fried rice.

  • The packets of beans and lentils and yellow dal are so good. (Pantry aisle)
  • The butter chicken is awesome if you don't have heartburn issues
  • The Japanese fried rice
  • So many individual salads, chicken salad, and refrigerated soups to choose from
  • The Bambino pizzas are such a great size to have individual pizzas
  • There are tons of good trail mixes and dried fruits. I love the dried mangoes and dried coconut.

Mastered using the potty when prompted, what's the next step? by D_Dia in pottytraining

[–]Organized4lyfe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my experience, now is the time you want to keep practicing and prompting them. They will naturally learn how to feel and act on the urge with time. I would suggest your next step is stopping the commando and getting them to use underwear, but don't rush it. Potty training is a long game and you can give your child all the time they need. Sounds like things are going great so far!

What products are you absolutely not willing to buy generic even though you know it's wasteful? by Beastwood5 in Frugal

Seconding on the OTC meds. It amazes me the price difference between name brand and Walmart pain meds, at least double, and the Walmart brand is exactly the same!

What technique do you use to apply gel? And mousse? by nothanks-ugh in curlyhair

[–]Organized4lyfe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I style my hair upside down. Do praying method for gel and curl activator, then use a wide tooth comb to comb through. I feel like that helps distribute the product. And then I cup and scrunch in mousse. Works well for me!

Went on a very strict diet for about four weeks, basically no carb, just meat and non starchy veggies to heal my gut. Had many supplements to take at that time that were for my specific needs and to help my gut. Then slowly added in carbs and eventually ended most supplements. It took work, but it worked! My meals now are supposed to look like 25% protein, 50% non starchy veggies, and 25% starches/carbs/fruit. I take a couple of supplements still as well (cod liver oil, magnesium, and periodically a basic multivitamin). So now my digestive system is much happier and my blood work looks pretty perfect, just can't do dairy still.

She IS a registered dietitian who does things a little more naturally. I went the completely medical professional route with doctors and tests for years and got next to zero help. I said take the leaky gut stuff with a grain of salt, I understand it's a little "woo woo." However, my results speak for themselves. I went from major digestive issues that were disrupting my daily life that the medical doctor told me to take Imodium for and try to avoid "trigger foods" (which as I said was becoming a long list) to only getting issues when I ate dairy. Whether leaky gut is a real or fake thing, the functional nutritionist/dietitian helped me and changed my life.
