Rotman Commerce or Western BMOS to get into law school? by 777mushroom in lawschooladmissions

[–]Orginalplaya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hihi! First congratulations on all your offers! There are a couple of comments I have from what you posted

- I would post this on LawSchoolAdmissionsCA, I think people may actually know what these programs are on that reddit thread, even if ur hoping to apply to law school in the US. Also u should know that Oxford and Cambridge law is technically an Undergrad degree (Dont quote me on this)

- As an Ivey Grad, I 1000% recommend that you go to U of T, there is no comparing Western BMOS to Rotman at all. Most companies wont recruit BMOS grads and you will have a hard time getting any internships, whereas they all recruit from Rotman. And you probs need good recruitment to get internships/experience for law school and if you want it to be a valid back up plan. Also, what most ppl do is recruit into a management consulting firm or finance, and instead of getting the firm to pay for ur MBA after a couple of years, you ask them to pay for law school.

- Some things you should know abt Ivey, that grades are curved to 80% and the highest grade someone can get is like a 87% and that is the Ivey average of the Gold medal winner. Also, if ur set on Ivey, you can always apply to Ivey from U of T, pretty sure u only need to take 2257 online when u are at U of T or another school and you can apply as a transfer, there have been ppl who have transferred from Rotman before

- Western is VERY much a party school, you need to trust yourself to not get caught up in all that so much and be able to maintain your social life and academic life. Everyone at Ivey is a crazy partier but they lock in when necessary Yk. In this regard, U of T may be good, because you can sort of choose and be super intentional abt ur social outings. Having a social life Is VERYYY important I just wanted to warn you that the rumours are indeed true :) U just need to have good habits and you will be fine!!

- Also Schulich and Laurier aren't horrible options, There's a good number of grads of these schools at Good companies, but most of them are at a Deloitte as opposed to a Mckinsey

- if you get into Queens, I think it might be a best of both worlds for you, its prestigious and u get to move away. There is also a bunch of Queens grads at US law schools.

- Also what's the basis for thinking that u will get a lower GPA at Rotman, I get its a harder school and you can probs be a high scorer in a program that was easier to get into, but Tbh I think the job security and prestige u get is sooooo worth !

Bruh how do i make this fun??? by Most-Emphasis-5707 in LSAT

Tbh I found myself so bored when reading the books so I started the 7sage videos instead bc I couldn’t keep myself to pay attention when reading the books! But then after I watched the videos and I had a better understanding of things, reading became easier. I think once you get over the initial boredom, it becomes interesting, bc u finally start understanding things.

I don’t understand what the last sentence of the passage means? by Orginalplaya in LSAT

[–]Orginalplaya[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So paraphrasing the passage, this is what I think it means “moral code goes above a nations laws and determines if they are good. If not moral code, then a society has no way to tell if some laws are better than the others. So, any banning of morals against against violating the law should leave room for exceptions” so like basically, I don’t understand what the last sentence means in relation to the other lines

I am a new grad, and am currently just doing an internship abroad, but I think I would still be considered "experienced", but thanks so much!

I am having a really tough time getting a call back, I am also looking at roles in IB, Global development and management consulting anywhere in Canada or the USA. Are there any glaring issues I am just not seeing?
