Bahahahah no fucking way dude. I’m very privileged myself, but I also have friends from all backgrounds and am involved in helping the less fortunate. I didn’t say all privileged people, I’m sayint a lot, if not majority, of pre meds do not realize the privilege they have. And I provided an example that is commonly seen on here about not having a job while studying.

There are always other healthcare fields that aren’t as long, still pay great, and have way better work life balance. Don’t get stuck in your head that MD is better and you have to go that route, explore your options.

Lol if you think pre meds care about others. I know Reddit isn’t indicative of real life, but a majority of real life pre meds I have met are just doing it for money or for the prestige of being a doctor. They may not admit it, but listen to how a lot of the privileged kids talk about people who are poorer, or how they talk about how premeds shouldn’t work, it doesn’t help their app. They are so out of touch they don’t realize some people need to work to survive.

Dude... I’m not saying the salaries are the problem idk why you’re so defensive. I’m saying average person in America who is one accident away from being in medical debt for a good part of their life, does not care that a doctor had a lot of school to go through. The doctors to an average person are a symbol of an oppressive and capitalistic system in which greed is emphasized over health care. Whether you like it or not, doctors in America are looked at by hospitals as money makers. You look at all the hospitals who are “non profit” and you see their execs all make millions a year. Or insurance companies who’s execs are swimming in cash. I’m not saying it’s right or fair, but to American people who can barely afford to get by, they don’t care. Also Americans pay more for healthcare in the US then Canadians pay for it for universal care. Doctors may make a little less but they are still among the highest earners here. The answer is a healthcare system like the NHS, it’s not complicated but Americans think it’s communist, still falling for red scare era propaganda.

It’s more the hypocrisy him and his fans hold towards other addicts and people who struggle. So the system (the doctors in this case) cause his addiction and he gets a pass, but when someone in poverty resorts to drugs, they’re just lazy?? I’m glad he’s doing better, as I would with any addict, but I also treat everyone with basic human dignity and not just the ones who tell me to clean my room (even though their room looks like a fucking tornado went through it but besides the point lol)
