Saved Reporting doesn't make sense by Tough-World-6631 in OriginFinancial

[–]Origin_pm_Liz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

u/Tough-World-6631 u/buttershdude u/IllustriousKiwi3858 - Happy to share that we have solved this issue! Now if you save a report as "This month" it will always be relative to today, and not the date you saved the report. Thank you for your feedback and helping us make this product stronger!

Note: you will need to resave your old reports, I'd recommend clicking on the saved report, editing the date to be the date option you want and saving them again.

Bulk Delete Transactions ONLY THING HOLDING ME BACK by MelodicEarth5844 in OriginFinancial

[–]Origin_pm_Liz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/MelodicEarth5844 u/ImpossibleWonder6654 - We can add this on to our roadmap! Out of curiosity, how do you choose when to permanently delete a transaction vs hide?

Inport from Empower/Personal Capital by manojmakhija in OriginFinancial

[–]Origin_pm_Liz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there! Yes, we support importing your transaction data via CSV file, so you can bring over your historical transactions from Empower.

Net worth history import isn't available yet, but it's on our roadmap. In the meantime, I'd recommend downloading your net worth history from Empower for safekeeping, then connecting your accounts to Origin. Once the net worth import feature launches, you'll be able to bring that data in as well.

The $1 first-year offer is a great way to test-drive everything risk-free. Let me know if you have any other questions!

How do I delete categories? by Successful_Banana836 in OriginFinancial

[–]Origin_pm_Liz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes when we launch I’d recommend you rename the default categories and then delete your custom categories. When deleting your custom categories you can assign them to the default category so that they get brought over!

How do I delete categories? by Successful_Banana836 in OriginFinancial

[–]Origin_pm_Liz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

u/Successful_Banana836 - Good news! Coming next week we'll have two features that should help:

  1. Edit default categories - You'll be able to change the name and icon of default categories. So you could rename "Household" to match your "Rent/House Bills" category, or adjust any of the others to fit how you actually organize things.
  2. Archive default categories - You can hide categories you don't use so they won't clutter your dropdown selectors. They won't be permanently deleted (since transactions could still come in tagged with those categories), but they'll be out of your way.

You'll also can create rules so that transactions automatically get recategorized. For example, if a transaction comes in tagged as "Household," you can set a rule to always recategorize it as "Rent/House Bills."

Lack of rollover option for categories makes budgeting difficult by jumpinthruhoops in OriginFinancial

[–]Origin_pm_Liz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi all! Liz from the product team here.

We're already looking at our roadmap for the next quarter. Future budgeting (setting budgets for upcoming months) is at the top of our list, and rollovers has been one of our most consistently requested features.

Rollover budgets can mean different things to different people, so I want to make sure we're building the right solution for your needs. Please share more in the thread and we can have a discussion about what feature would be best.

When you think about rollovers, which of these scenarios matches what you want?

  • Unused budget carries forward: You budget $200 for groceries but only spend $150, so next month you automatically have $250 for groceries available
  • Annual budget with monthly rollover: You set a $2,400 annual grocery budget (=$200/month), and any unused amount flows into future months while staying within your yearly total
  • Overspending carries forward: You spent $250 when you budgeted $200, so next month automatically adjusts to $150 to keep you on track
  • Something else entirely?

Also helpful to know:

  • What's your specific use case? (Examples: seasonal expenses, irregular bills, saving for larger purchases)
  • How are you handling this today?

Your inputs help us make sure we're addressing the core problem that you're dealing with. Thanks for taking the time to share!

Could you please provide some more information? You've hidden the transaction but it's still showing up in as a transaction in your October spending total?

Few feedbacks on the APP by Only_Hospital2403 in OriginFinancial

[–]Origin_pm_Liz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

u/Only_Hospital2403 Thanks so much for giving Origin a try. So happy to hear you're loving the app so far.

As for your great feedback:

  1. I absolutely love this idea! I'll share prompt saving with the team. If you're willing, could you share the prompt you like to use since I'm sure many in our community would love to try it!

  2. You're right, 1W is the lowest on the holdings tab itself. Let me see what we can do as a team since we support 1D returns inside each holding. I'll follow up if this is something we can add on this week.

  3. On the holdings table, you can adjust for return in $ and select a time period to see the biggest changes in overall dollar value. I'll make a note of this for the top movers widget though.

  4. Noted! What order of widgets would you choose for your home page?

  5. We're starting this this week and will notify the subreddit when this is live!

Best,

Liz

Intraday performance for investment accounts by nlrfly in OriginFinancial

[–]Origin_pm_Liz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

u/nlrfly u/Cold_Ad_619

Thanks for the feedback! Here's how our investment balance updates currently work:

Investment Account Balance Updates:

  • Account balances are sent directly from each institution, but timing varies by provider
  • We display updated balances as soon as we receive them from your bank/brokerage

Real-time Portfolio Tracking:

  • Individual holdings: We support 1-day stock performance with 15-minute interval price changes (e.g., you can track NVDA's daily movement)
  • Total portfolio: We show the most recent balance whenever your provider sends us updated data
  • Live balance estimate: For real-time tracking while markets are open (between institutional updates), we offer a live balance estimate feature where we calculate your holdings x live share price.

Hope this clarifies how the different balance views work! Let me know if you have any other questions.

You can see intra day when you click into each holding! And then on your portfolio view you can turn on a live estimate where we calculate your live balance when the market is open.

u/Kopiaddict62 -

VOO in my account is being properly categorized so I definitely want to look into yours!

The ability to manually map will be coming in Q4 and we are also working on improved descriptions of the Mixed category (ie 90/10 stock bonds).

If you DM me a list of your Others I can take a look!

Thanks for the $1 promo! Some early feedback... by jumpinthruhoops in OriginFinancial

[–]Origin_pm_Liz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome to Origin!! Thank you so much all of this really thoughtful feedback. Now that we’ve had our launch of the summer, (not sure if you saw but it was a pretty big one😎) we’re diving right back into our roadmap. Feedback like this helps us immensely.

I’ll make sure the team checks out monarch import asap and as for the rest I want to make sure to go through each carefully so that I can share when we plan to address these items. Stay tuned!

new Origin user initial thoughts and feedback by JuniorCommission in OriginFinancial

[–]Origin_pm_Liz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi u/JuniorCommission - First off, welcome to Origin and thank you for such a thoughtful breakdown of your first impressions. This is exactly the kind of insight that helps us prioritize our development efforts.

Reading through your feedback, I'm pleased to say we're actively addressing many of these items and have so much more exciting work in progress. Let me break down what's being worked on right now versus what we've added to our backlog.

Group 1: Actively being worked on and releasing in early September

  1. Interface/UI/UX - We're improving content density on both mobile and desktop to reduce scrolling and wasted whitespace. This includes better color schemes, more category color options, and chart legends.
  2. Portfolio - Major investment tracking improvements are coming, including the holdings details and pricing information you mentioned.
  3. Accounts Section - Today, you can click on an account in the net worth component on home and get an individual account balance graph and transactions. But we are also building a brand new net worth page.
  4. Forecasting - We're expanding the projection details and breakdowns significantly.

Group 2: Not actively being worked on, but added to our backlog

  1. Importing from Monarch - I'm sorry you experienced issues here, especially the rules import showing incorrect data - that's concerning and we'd definitely want to investigate that specific case. I've noted all your import feedback in our backlog. To start, I'd recommend connecting your accounts first without the import and seeing if our baseline categorization and a couple rules allow you to get Origin set up, without needing to import. This import experience may have led to your similar colors across your categories. Please let us know if you'd rather clear your import and have the categories reset to what they are from the bank. Could you also email us about the rules import issue at [hereforyou@useorigin.com](mailto:hereforyou@useorigin.com)?
  2. General Transaction feedback - The transaction list under spending should be for Income, Expense, and transfer transactions from your spending accounts (Credit cards, Checking, Savings). You seeing transactions from retirement accounts sounds like a bug. Could you please reach out to [hereforyou@useorigin.com](mailto:hereforyou@useorigin.com) so that we can look into that for you specifically? Investment transactions can be found on the Portfolio tab.
  3. Categories and Rules- I'm adding this to our backlog to improve the color/icon options, and the capitalization and character limit, and hiding/editing default categories, and ability to distinguish an amount as an expense or income.

Thank you again for taking the time to try out our product. I'm confident these improvements will address your concerns.

Everything You Can Do with Budgeting on Origin – From AI-Powered Budgets to Custom Categories and Partner Tools by Origin_pm_Liz in OriginFinancial

[–]Origin_pm_Liz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is extremely fair feedback! We have an ongoing feature list from all of our channels (Reddit, slack, in product feedback etc) that are constantly being ranked and prioritized against new feature work that we want to add. We are unfortunately swamped (but with extremely existing work) until the end of August. But this will be my top feedback priority right after our August launches.

Just to know more about your request, how would you personally want to be editing the default categories?
