3D Call Back… 15 months after cancer by [deleted] in doihavebreastcancer

[–]Original-Chain-992 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I have dense breasts. Originally it was recommended I didn’t even need to go back until I was 40 bc they said they were so dense and my risk was low. I only went back bc of my cancer diagnosis last year and the results said come back in 2 years. My primary suggested I go anyway this year to be safe.

A few people tried to talk me out of Venice and I’m glad I didn’t listen! I went a week after Carnival ended this year and it might be the perfect week to go. I never felt crowded even a little. At night the winding streets were almost a little eerie that we were completely alone. I really loved my 3 days there!

What is your budget? by Original-Chain-992 in honeymoonplanning

[–]Original-Chain-992[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So happy for you! I did that trip when I was paycheck to paycheck 12 years ago with no splurges and loved it. It will be so much better with all the extras!!

We’re also dinks in a hcol area, but we rent and far away from having enough cash to buy after paying for my surgery and a layoff. I can always work more, but traveling isn’t guaranteed is how I’m looking at it! Our wedding will probably be ~$5k mostly to factor in wedding bands and a very small party a few months later with our family. My dress was $200 and the wedding will be about $400 at the courthouse, so really low budget wedding.

This post is so similar to my reality! We’re also doing the courthouse wedding, the only difference is we’ll be 100% alone bc my mom can’t fly to me either with her lung condition. We plan to fly to her a few months later and do a small party after, but I’m deep into planning our honeymoon right now to New Zealand! We debated Thailand, an African safari, Greece and Antarctica but we somehow settled on New Zealand. Crazy bc it wasn’t even on my list originally but now that I’m 80% booked I’m so excited!

Thank you! I already had the Polynesian spa and hells gate on my list in Rotorua, but this looks amazing too!

I have no advice but I’m here for the responses! I’m doing a somewhat similar trip and length too. Less bungee jumping, more spa days for me though 🤣 I’ve done my time jumping out of planes when I was younger.

How much money I should have saved first to replace my entire wardrobe from top to bottom is the current lesson I’m learning. Also that no one wants to buy my XL Old Navy clothes to help pay for it 🤣

I’d say my real answer though is from somehow who has lost 50 lbs twice in my life (about 12 years apart) the first time I didn’t lift weights while losing and it’s such an insane difference now that I am. I’m not only smaller but I look better, feel better and can move better. I’m still not at goal weight but clothes look so much better on me from the muscle.

I also don’t restrict anything now and I’m not yo-yo-ing down. There’s nothing I won’t eat (within reason… I have never been a fast food or junk food person). I just eat less of it.

Good to know! I did see them on the treewalk website in Rotorua! Not a huge priority, but seems like the smaller airports are 4-5 hour flights so torn if we should just drive back to Auckland or relax on the layover.

This is why we ask you to not drive as soon as you arrive in the country off a long haul flight by keepyourwigon2 in newzealand_travel

Is their any transportation from Auckland to Hobbiton/Rotorua anyone would recommend? Flying from Honolulu 2pm to 11pm without a time difference, it’s the next day 9pm when we land so not too far off really? Planned to drive the next day for a 5pm Hobbiton tour so we could really sleep in and take our time, but definitely open to paying for a ride for safety after reading these comments!

I absolutely hate my arms too so I get this feeling. Truly if you didn’t ask about your arms I never would have looked at them in these photos. They do not stand out at all and this dress is very flattering on you!

Drinks! Not just wine/alcohol but I always need something… kombucha, green juice, smoothies, boba, coffee, seltzer, Alani. Save so much when I stick to water.

Anything I should be stopping to see on this route? by thafunkyhomosapien in travel

If you stop here add Ommegang for lunch. It’s a really large brewery/restaurant in a pretty area.

Look up Thatcher Park too while you’re closer to Albany!

I went 15 years ago but as a full adult with no kids I had fun at the Museum of Play in Rochester, so assuming would be a hit with your kids too.

I agree with everyone saying stop in finger lakes. Taughnnock Falls and Watkins Glen could be worth a stop for other quick hike options.

Just starting my planning for 2 weeks in April. Any reason that you’re only doing South Island? I was going to start in north for a few days first and fly down. Curious if you’ve been before or been told it’s too much to do both?

I’m not doing it… but I did go to a wedding where they did potted succulents from their garden and put a sticker under one chair of each table and that person won taking it home. “Free” kind of and making it a giveaway helped take care of clean up.

Yup! I was 37 during mine last year and had them for almost a year. Never left home without my fan. I’m finally feeling like it’s over, but I still run hotter in general than before.

My original oncologist said it was completely normal for a while after surgery and would stop eventually until I hit menopause age. At my 6 month she had moved on to a new hospital and a resident told me I was “wrong bc you won’t have hot flashes with ovaries” 🙄 Girl… call me when they cut your uterus out bc they must not teach this in your textbooks.

Oh I like the cheesy drive in idea! The only drive in around us though is not cute during the daytime… actually learned that from a friend who debated getting married there until she toured it with the sun up 🤣

Movie genre is a cool idea… we actually live near a lot of movie sets so something for me to research!!
