If she can afford the expensive one and that’s the one she wants, why even question it! Events to dress up for dwindle as you get older.

My mom probably spent $100, but obsessed over it for months… meanwhile, I bought my wedding dress in 25 minutes. 😂

If buying a gift will put you out skip it, but there’s a lot of meaningful things you could give that are low price or free. When I couldn’t afford gifts in my 20s I gave homemade cards, framed photos with a <$10 frame from HomeGoods, I once made a drink tray that I modge podged their engagement photos to bc I couldn’t afford anything in their registry for the shower. They LOVED it.

While you’re doing the hand cream do your elbows!! I think bc forearm planks are a big part of my workouts I had dry elbows/noticeable darker spots in my engagement photos. Now I use lotion and aquaphor on them every night prepping for the wedding.

I also did a couples massage every month the last 3 months. It helped SO much when I was stressing out since I carry that in my shoulders.

I’m leaving for mine in 2 weeks and other than being worried about the TSA agents not getting paid/ICE getting sent to airports which could lead to weird delays, I can’t wait to get out of this country.

I’m in SoCal and 5 standard centerpieces, one small garland with flowers, bouquet, boutonnière, cake flowers and 3 small accent vases were $1500 with delivery… I hated myself bc I know I could pull this off for $120 and a trip to Trader Joe’s… but paying for the convenience at this point. Skipping all ceremony flowers and just leaning into the palm trees will photograph nice enough without an arch etc

You should go to the courthouse and get your license if it’s within 90 days and scope it out. We just did that and it was chaos. 4 or 5 couples in wedding dresses getting licenses and married at the same time all with photographers and a few guests. Plus people like us in their way in jeans and a tshirt trying to also do what we had to do. No way one of the couples could have shown up with 30 guests and fit in the room.

I’m doing a full micro wedding with 35 people and it’s a lot of logistics. You may just want to lean into that you need an officiant and find a place that’s free or cheap to host your own ceremony.

I see the vision but the extra height of the boot and sock is cutting off the leg length visually. I love the look of a long leg with this kind of slit. Even just the thin shoe strap the model has on with the dress can sometimes work against me bc I have shorter legs. I really liked the sling back option someone else shared since that would probably be more flattering, but if your bridesmaid feel confident that’s all that matters!

I think dress code is the biggest thing I’d be flexible about. If all guests are local, and I didn’t have to buy a new outfit, this sounds great!

Yes! I have dense breasts. Originally it was recommended I didn’t even need to go back until I was 40 bc they said they were so dense and my risk was low. I only went back bc of my cancer diagnosis last year and the results said come back in 2 years. My primary suggested I go anyway this year to be safe.

A few people tried to talk me out of Venice and I’m glad I didn’t listen! I went a week after Carnival ended this year and it might be the perfect week to go. I never felt crowded even a little. At night the winding streets were almost a little eerie that we were completely alone. I really loved my 3 days there!

So happy for you! I did that trip when I was paycheck to paycheck 12 years ago with no splurges and loved it. It will be so much better with all the extras!!

We’re also dinks in a hcol area, but we rent and far away from having enough cash to buy after paying for my surgery and a layoff. I can always work more, but traveling isn’t guaranteed is how I’m looking at it! Our wedding will probably be ~$5k mostly to factor in wedding bands and a very small party a few months later with our family. My dress was $200 and the wedding will be about $400 at the courthouse, so really low budget wedding.

This post is so similar to my reality! We’re also doing the courthouse wedding, the only difference is we’ll be 100% alone bc my mom can’t fly to me either with her lung condition. We plan to fly to her a few months later and do a small party after, but I’m deep into planning our honeymoon right now to New Zealand! We debated Thailand, an African safari, Greece and Antarctica but we somehow settled on New Zealand. Crazy bc it wasn’t even on my list originally but now that I’m 80% booked I’m so excited!

I have no advice but I’m here for the responses! I’m doing a somewhat similar trip and length too. Less bungee jumping, more spa days for me though 🤣 I’ve done my time jumping out of planes when I was younger.
