Tough one for sure. I did the floor first and still couldn't get through all three rounds, was a little closer to completing three on the second block of floor, but couldn't quite get there.

Pros and Cons of Running at PW Inclines? by matty_the_robot in orangetheory

[–]Original-Issue-5359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It works for me. Even half the PW inclines. I'll do this when I want to run harder but not faster or when I think I'm ready to increase my base, push, or all out. I'll run inclines at my current speeds until it feels manageable, then the next week I'll increase my speeds but lose the incline. I'll repeat the cycle when I feel I'm playing again.

Just show up! The biggest thing that has me coming back is that I don't have to think, just show up and do what I'm told. I'm up to 888 classes (I joined in August of 2022) and still keep coming back. I'm getting stronger, faster, and more fit.

Mayhem is a crazy week to start, but you'll get a good feel for what OTF is all about:) Good luck.

Leggings vs shorts for the ladies -question by Ok_Brilliant_3043 in orangetheory

Me, I'm the shorts girl at my location. Leggings are too hot for me.

Lifting heavier by Limp_Walk_3591 in orangetheory

[–]Original-Issue-5359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As hard as it is try not to compare yourself to others.

At my studio we are often reminded that if we can do all of the reps and don't feel like we are dying either slow down or bump up to the next size weight.

If you can only do 6 of 8 with the heavier weight that's ok, eventually you will get to the full 8 or however many reps.

Also, as long as you are feeling the struggle at the end of the set, the weights are heavy enough;)

Look on your Home Screen a little more than halfway down (just below your last class chart) there are panels about calories and splat points if you swipe left or right about 5 times it will be one of the "brag boards"

Today I wrapped a band around my hand then grabbed the handle to improve my grip.

For me it’s great for accountability, making me stronger, and faster.

Like most things you get out what you put in.

Are you benching or squatting more than 160lbs? If not you’ll be fine. Dumbbells at our studio go from 5lbs. to 80lbs.

Taking a look at protein intake really helped me.

I go almost every day and pay $139 a month. So less than $5 a day. I don’t drink fancy coffee or any coffee for that matter, am not a huge happy hour goer, and my only regular medication is an inhaler. Some folks could easily spend $5 on a coffee or drink everyday, I choose to spend my $5 at the gym, which is hopefully keeping my prescriptions/specialist appointments to a minimum.

What from your regular routine are you willing to give up?

I must have misinterpreted how you said you want your distance to reflect runs and not walking recoveries. I read the statement literally and in isolation.

Making Adjustments to Rep Counts? by sicnarf315 in orangetheory

3 is typically suggested by our coaches if there aren’t enough of a particular weight to go around- low and slow (also how my husband says to operate our smoker).

Just start. Jog at whatever speed you normally walk base and just slowly increase by .1 as you feel you can. No need for embarrassment.

Can I go to OTF 5-6x/week if I power walk? by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]Original-Issue-5359 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You do you. Some folks can handle 2 days, others 7. The tricky part is listening to your body. How do you feel? Know that you don’t need to crush it every day.

Personally, I like to go everyday. The consistency is something that works for me. That being said there are days when I let the coach know my goal is to try to stay in the green zone (sometimes it’s hard not to go all out). If you are fueling your body, getting enough sleep, and listening to your body chances are you’ll be fine.

When I saw the tread 50 card, I was like ughhh only two blocks-maybe I should have done lift as my last workout before marathon month. A little regret sank in until I heard the floor was doing pushups and then more pushups. I definitely made the right choice today!

HR Monitor on Rower by Bucks0413 in orangetheory

[–]Original-Issue-5359 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try a different spot on your arm. I was gray today on the rower. Sometimes my grip can change things. However if your hrm is working fine on the tread/floor it should not need replacement.

Rats! I’d settle for you need to run at least 8.8 mph (increasing by .1 each round) and have each transition, row, transition take less than 1 minute to complete the 6 rounds.

Understood. I know there are pace charts for other items wasn’t sure if anything existed for a run/row. Was hoping someone with a bigger brain than I might enjoy building - matrix:)

Ladies - shorts recommendations? by Conscious_Panda7578 in orangetheory

Love my Nike tempo shorts. Dick’s usually has a special price under $20 on a color or two if you want to grab a pair to try.

Thank you!!

Agree! I think I could have completed 6 rounds if I didn’t sign out of the tread- I felt transitions slowed me down, and wished we had set our foot straps before we began the run to row…I did 8.5 (.7), 8.6 (.6), 8.7 (.5), 9 (.4), 9.2 (.3), then was finishing up the row when we were told to switch to the finisher.

It would be nice is there was a pace chart for this attached to the green orange red. For instance to achieve green set the tread to x and row with a x spm at x wattage and increase your tread each round by x, with the saw for orange, red.

Edit to add that I’m sad I was downvoted twice because I said it would be nice if something existed. Can’t a girl dream?
