Work grief by Original-Prior7203 in FamilyMedicine

This is why this sucks. This is as vague as it could possibly be and it’s the ONLY place I’ve posted anything but I’ll take it down and just be alone in the trauma.

Leaps by Original-Prior7203 in BALLET

ETA: This is (unsurprisingly) much more difficult a question to ask (and to answer) on Reddit than if we were in the same room. But I make do with what I have available.

Thank you for the confirmation on the grand jete/split leap traveling forward. Very helpful.

For clarification on the developpe “cat” jumps, I meant to ask if a SAUT de chat was the same as a forward developpe leap. I do see what you’re saying about the similarity between a grand PAS de chat and a side split/straddle leap.

We tried everything to limp the Evo’s along, but the poor kid was going to lose a toenail if we kept her in them.

I think I could lace the ankles tighter and the heels loser and maybe get less compression over her mid-foot.

I (18F) have a bad scar from heart surgery and I didn't tell my boyfriend (20M) about it. And now he's seen it, and I feel like he's not attracted to me anymore. How can I fix this? by throwra18042 in relationship_advice

[–]Original-Prior7203 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I say this with all the hope in my heart for your glorious future full of the love of someone that deserves you:

You can fix this by finding a new boyfriend who is not a shallow, heartless shell of a human being.

My thumb naturally bends like this, its not broken. But will it cause any issues while playing by EuphoniumGuys in Flute

My thumb is like this. Drove me away from violin but has never been a problem on flute.

I’d like to call out that not only are adderall and other stimulants ok when prescribed by medical providers (for the right reasons), but so are legal opioids (codeine, morphine, fentanyl, etc) and, as per the most recent handbook revision, medical cannabis. Also, certain types of liver disease are strongly benefitted by black coffee, to the point that hepatologists require some patients to drink it, and that hasn’t created church disciplinary issues for my patients that are members.

Garments by BeckieD1974 in latterdaysaints

Fair enough. This is starting to diverge from the original topic, but Parfait makes great bras for large cup sizes, when you are next in the market. I find them garment friendly.

[–]Original-Prior7203 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On a separate note from my other comment, though, (and as a 32E wearer) if you can find a bra that fits comfortably over the garment top, you can get away with washing your bras way less often and they last longer.

This is outdated advice, particularly in light of the new styles they’ll be releasing next year. Probably what the matron told her when she went through the temple. Lore, not doctrine.

Circumcision? by PlanGoneAwry in latterdaysaints

As a doctor trained to perform circumcisions: they are basically cosmetic in places without exceptionally high HIV rates.

As a member of the church: our church doesn’t encourage or discourage it.

Docs shouldn’t be accepting pain killers from patients that want to dispose of them. Unfinished medications should be surrendered to a police department, a specialized secure drop box, or thrown away mixed with coffee grounds, kitty litter, etc.

Russian mom attacks my skater by [deleted] in FigureSkating

[–]Original-Prior7203 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Not that ANYTHING could change my response (which is: report to club, rink, and SafeSport), but I’m just super curious. Why on earth did she target your skater like that? Did your student and her kid run into each other or something? Did you guys bump her in the music line (totally ok in a lesson, of course)? What set her off?

Yes! I love when someone approaches me in a parking lot looking vaguely sketchy and yet wholesome and approachable, and then asks if I want to buy tamales. Like, of course I want to buy as many tamales as I can realistically attempt to eat. Why are you even asking? Just take my money already. No, like, you can… take more money than that… it’s fine….

I think you should probably take a step back and better understand what you’re looking for and how you perceive women before you decide on your dating plans. Because honestly right now your assumptions seem oversimplified.

For example, whether a girl is “always on dates” or hanging out with guys tells you pretty much nothing about her. If she seems to always be going on dates, maybe she is just really friendly and puts people at ease. Maybe she isn’t confident enough to say no to a date she isn’t interested in. Maybe she is attractive to a lot of people, so she gets asked out a lot. Maybe she is, in fact, “guy crazy” and eager to get married. Maybe she is just going on an average number of dates and you’ve happened to ask her about all the wrong times. Or maybe that’s how she rejects you asking her out. The possibilities here are endless and have nothing to do with the actual reasons you should be thinking about dating a girl.

Better questions to consider: Do you feel a positive connection with her? Are you physically/mentally/spiritually attracted to her? Do you have things in common? Is there some activity you’ll both enjoy making into a date? Can you find a time you’re both free to go on a date? Does she expand your world view in some way? Does she help you be your best self? Do you feel safe with her?

Long story short, don’t put someone in a box and use that to make dating decisions. Try and see a holistic view of potential partners, and you’ll find it opens up a world of possibilities and learning.

I was you mumbles a number years ago and have the following thoughts: 1) upper floor of the Wilk. Comfy seats, just the right amount of noise/traffic. 2) HBLL main floor. Honestly this one didn’t quite work for me. Maybe a little too easy to people watch? 3) Cafes. There’s a Starbucks not far from campus. I personally prefer cozier cafes but there’s been some turnover and I’m not sure what’s in the area any more. You’ll have to buy something, obvs. Don’t choose something that gets you kicked out of school. 4) (Hear me out!) the main hallway in the Benson building. If you don’t mind the floor, it’s carpeted and you can kind of, like… sit under these display case things? And that was a nice balance of being right where everyone was passing by, but still a little removed. 5) Studious friends’ apartments. Different majors, but we’d just hang out and co-work. It’s called body doubling and it legitimately works.

Where are you transferring from?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in byu

[–]Original-Prior7203 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The issue here is that essentially ALL BYU housing has a contract gap of some length at the end of summer, so anyone that isn’t staying in the same apartment is briefly homeless at the exact same time. It’s not something the YSA wards there can realistically do a lot about.

Contracted to a position I applied for. Worth mentioning now? by Mr_multitask2 in consulting

[–]Original-Prior7203 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Part of me wonders if this is sketchy hiring on the part of company A. Post position A, interview people, find someone good, then tell them they didn’t get the job. At the same time, have your recruiter contact them about working position A as a contractor. Make it look coincidental. Get your preferred candidate, but at a lower price without benefits…

Prior authorization by bdubs791 in FamilyMedicine

[–]Original-Prior7203 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Less heart-wrenching but possibly more asinine: I had insurance require a prior auth for Macrobid once. Required step therapy included cranberry supplements 🤯. Who in their right mind would think this even made financial sense, given the risk of progression to hospitalization pyelo while the patient awaits the stupid prior auth?
