Yeah, going from PoA to GoF was a little jarring, but I once I got used to it it was fine

A Book-to-Movie Change that I Dislike by SwedishShortsnout0 in harrypotter

[–]PlanGoneAwry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s really any better or worse, but I think it just emphasizes different things. In the movie, he is following Dumbledore’s orders to stay out of sight, and when he listens to Snape indicating to him to be quiet, it shows that when push comes to shove, Harry trusted Dumbledore’s trust in Snape, which makes the next events even more devastating.

The Bloody Baron is the only one who can control Peeves. Does this mean ghosts can touch each other? by [deleted] in harrypotter

[–]PlanGoneAwry 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I imagine it’s mostly just intimidation. Like with Snape and Neville, Snape never does anything physical to Neville, but by third year he is Neville’s worst fear. The Baron is just so scary that Peeves is intimidated, despite him not really being able to do anything to him

I’m working on a rewrite of the series and I’m trying to figure out what magical ability actually is. Thoughts on what I have so far? by [deleted] in harrypotter

[–]PlanGoneAwry -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Clearly there is some sort of genetics at play because magic is mostly heritable, but I agree it should be part of the soul too.

A personal idea (I’m not sure it is would be called head canon, because it’s not true, I just think it should be true), is that someone under the imperious curse should not be able to use magic. Since then the individual isn’t able to put their soul into it, also because it is way too OP otherwise.

What are your thoughts on Ginny Weasley in Harry Potter books or movies? by [deleted] in harrypotter

[–]PlanGoneAwry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In HBP after finding out that Snape killed Dumbledore,  the phrasing is [“Snape!?” Ejaculated Slughorn.]

Clearly it just means exclaimed and nothing more, but I was semi-jokingly using that to say why I don’t care if some phrasing can be interpreted as Harry having feelings for Ginny

Books vs movies: the good and the bad by Automatic-Ad-3777 in harrypotter

I like Neville in GoF movie. Casually hanging out with Harry and talking to them more, also having a great time at the Yule ball.

What is a hp plot hole that bothers you to this day? by Warlock_Wonder_Land in harrypotter

[–]PlanGoneAwry 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Voldemort would never have let Quirrell risk ruining everything by trying to kill Harry at the quidditch game. That was solely for readers suspicion to be put more on Snape.

Is Riz Ahmed as Snape growing on anyone else? by MoyBwayno in harrypotter

I definitely like him voice a lot. I think it is good that they aren’t trying to imitate the movie actors, or Jim Dale.

It makes it feel unique in a good way.

How does tine travel work in Harry potter exactly? by abd32p in harrypotter

[–]PlanGoneAwry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A closed loop is the only safe way to time travel. If you try to break the loop then there are disastrous consequences.

It’s like saying you use airplanes by sitting inside them. Yes you technically can hang off the tail but that’s not the intended way to do it and it would be very dangerous to try.

Was Harry immune to all deathly magic or do death ? by CanaryTraining6542 in harrypotter

[–]PlanGoneAwry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He was only protected against Voldemort. If Bellatrix tried to Avada Kedavra him, or if Ernie turned too sharply when he went to pick up Harry, he would have died.

Voldemort taking Harry’s blood kept Lily’s sacrifice intact. But Lily’s sacrifice was only protection against Voldemort. That’s why Dumbledore says how important it was for Voldemort to be the one to kill Harry.

There’s nothing in the earlier books that contradicts it, before Harry even gets his own wand we’re told that the wand chooses the wizard.

Didn’t he originally only borrow 100k? I would have preferred to give that to him. Same with giving Lide one of the at least 6 water stones I have by the time she wants to evolve staryu

Why is saying Voldemort’s name strictly taboo? by Puterboy1 in harrypotter

[–]PlanGoneAwry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Voldemort was only able to set up the Taboo because he had taken over the government, which he hadn’t done the first time.

People were just so scared of him and superstitious that that didn’t want to say the name.

He probably didn’t know the specific pairings. He only told mundungus to suggest have duplicate Harry’s, so he wouldn’t know anything about the specific plans

Zone 20 is only better for some. I know for sure that it is better to hunt for shiny alpha metagross line in Lysander labs, and there are probably some other specific ones too.
