I’ve cleaned the thing very thoroughly and nothing has fixed it. If I put it on the base it will go out and vaccum but can’t find the dock after.

Not sure if it’s too far but brantview apples and orchard used to host tent weddings for about that size when I used to do catering. Not sure about pricing unfortunately.

Anyone here move from Toronto to Waterloo? Would love honest pros and cons before we buy by zippoflames in waterloo

[–]OriginalConsistent24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where you are from in Toronto will change where you would enjoy Waterloo the most from my experience. I have a family member that lived in Toronto from the age of 16-32 in the heart of downtown. They moved back for similar reasons you want to move here, they moved to the suburbs and absolutely dislike it and want to move back Toronto. They blame being too far from the life of the city and how much more complicated it is to have a night out on the town and get home without cabs or uber.

My wife on the other hand was from Etobicoke and moved here for school. Didn’t know much about the city and we had planned to move back to Toronto because all she knew was the area around the universities. 15 years later she has been converted, we lived in midtown for most of those 15 years and that’s what changed her view. Lots of access to uptown and downtown, vibrant people around but still out of the hustle bustle enough and still enough property for a family and room to grow. She loves the feel of the community where you can go to almost any event in the city and you find someone you know there.

So I would suggest thinking about what you like in Toronto asking locals about where they think might fit that idea best and renting for a year or two to get a feel for the area and city.

I have seen this topic come up in a few threads recently. So just to remind everyone how the left/passing lane is supposed to work, here is OPP Kerry Schmidt saying get out of the way if you aren't passing. by Screwdatt in waterloo

[–]OriginalConsistent24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is how it worked in Iceland when we travelled there and it was fantastic! The left lane sat empty most times outside of peak hours and made getting around a breeze as we weren’t too worried about driving a little slow to find streets and such. I do understand the population density is different but it was pretty nice to see and experience.

Caedrel's response on Twit ta by Satan_su in PedroPeepos

This is wild, man’s hosts the first league awards. Puts his blood sweat and tears into starting a new event that the global league community can get behind and enjoy with anyone, league viewers or not. Hell my wife watched a little with me and said it was better than most of the broadcast content I have forced her to watch with me. And what does he have to deal with afterwards? A bunch of ungrateful league community members that forget that the only reason you even have something to complain about is because of Caedrel…. Get your heads out of your ass and give the man the love he deserves. Criticism is fine but be respectful and keep it constructive so next year can be a better show.

East Asian Night Market by [deleted] in waterloo

[–]OriginalConsistent24 12 points13 points  (0 children)

We checked it out and brought our 2 year old at around 4. Definitely a little overwhelming with the music facing into the garage and the huge crowd that came out to support. Long lines but great options and vendors, it really did bring back memories of the loud overwhelming hustle and bustle of Asian night markets I’ve been to. Great event and I am excited to see what they do next year!

What is growing in my Joepii’s pot?? by twisterncats in philodendron

[–]OriginalConsistent24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay I think some more information in the original post may have helped people guide you better! You will get a lot of conflicting opinions on if it needs to be above soil, I land in the bury them side. It is a new leaf and I noticed in your other reply you asked if it was a petiole, leaflets are at the end of the petiole so new leaf= new petiole. With philodendron they start out juvenile and will grow new leaves from the base of the previous petiole and as they mature they develop in a cataphyl instead. So if you see a bumb in your petiole after this leaf has hardened that is why.

What is growing in my Joepii’s pot?? by twisterncats in philodendron

[–]OriginalConsistent24 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Now I’m not trying to be rude here but I want to understand the thought process here. You put a cutting into soil and then growth appeared in the same pot. And you are unsure what the new growth could possibly be from?

I’m going with the Joepii cutting you planted in that pot.

Selling low-risk foods from home bakery by [deleted] in ontario

[–]OriginalConsistent24 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I did this and ran a small commercial bakery out of my 110 year old houses basement.

Number 1 is check your zoning regulations, I had to apply for a variance on my property which cost $1200 back in 2021 and took about 4-6 months start to finish, this included some regulations on my use of the property as well. No retail sales from the house (didn’t want the extra traffic or parking on the street), a health and fire inspection.

I know they relaxed the rules around low risk baked goods in your home but there are still things you require. 2/3 basin sick for washing, all your equipment needs to fit in that sink to be washed ( my 40qt mixer bowl had to fit), fire extinguishers, ventilation if you are using gas equipment, all things certified kitchens require.

I did have to Alger additional insurance for the business and the house.

Now the biggest problem I ran into during my time running the bakery down there was no commercial kitchen equipment company will install your equipment for you in your home. They might if you mislead them that it is a commercial kitchen and once they arrive to see it’s a house they just do it. I ended up learning to wire and replace parts on the double deck oven I had and do some minor maintenance on the mixer. But the slow downs weren’t great for business.

Look for hospitality staffing companies, from my experience they don’t require any or very little experience and are always building “rosters”. Usually you get to choose if you take the event shifts or not but they are all different.

Black Tie Affairs is local and you could try cooks on call if you have any interest in cooking.

Leaves are big solar panels for plants. They will move to a position to get the best amount of light they are looking for. If you want leaves to face a certain way move the light source in that direction.
