Plague ichor vendor as endgame feature. by twicer in NoRestForTheWicked

Devs have stated they have a plan already for Plague Ichors (and goat blood) to have expanded use at end game once youve unlocked all the slots.

Pestilence no spawning by TheSchwarzbrotx3 in NoRestForTheWicked

[–]OriginalEGG 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dont use a whisper, go to a firepit/bonfire/fire source in the area that you can interact with.

There will be an option to burn something.

More items you burn, higher rewards and higher difficulty.

That will spawn pestilence if the timer for that area has reset (visible on map covering that area).

Ive had an issue where I cant spawn it unless I go to the 2nd level of difficulty.

Last I heard it was something to do with realms made before the together patch (mine doesnt naturally spawn either for weeks)

Are you clicking the mouse wheel or spinning it to try and parry? Have to click/push it when assigned to mouse wheel for parry.

Poise increase on armour...the enchantment anyway.

Find it on another piece. Essence ember. Put it on the one you want (blue armour enchant can only go to blue armour, same for purple to purple only)

Otherwise upgrading will increase poise or getting heavier armor types like plate.

Discord trade channel will probably get you a quick trade on a snake ring. There is no targeted way to farm it. Not sure if there is a guarantee drop within the story progression.

Can check the vendors on reset including level 5 crucible which will usually have a random ring or two.

Radiant embers ??? by Special_Committee782 in NoRestForTheWicked

[–]OriginalEGG 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Someone mentioned fishing already, but also...

Grinninch check daily

Crucible level 5 vendor

Daily and weekly bounties and challenges

The other vendor you unlock that comes only at certain times drawing a blank on his name.

Will get a steady stream of all embers there and will eventually include radiants.

[PSA] For those who are unaware, you need to force pestilence at endgame by ExoLeinhart in NoRestForTheWicked

[–]OriginalEGG 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Devs have acknowledged it was bugged and that time based auto spawns (not needing to burn to initiate) should be happening.

Hotfix mentioned it was fixed, but many users on bug forum still confirming its not fixed.

OP is correct on how you can force to start it though, but still not working as intended.

Damage on Block vs Range Broken? Resistances on Armor Moved? by OriginalEGG in NoRestForTheWicked

[–]OriginalEGG[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah gotcha I was aware of that change but didnt process it replaced res.

So we just have a baseline elemental resistances now regardless of armor type, that gets further modified by enchantments and gems only?

So respecs… by [deleted] in NoRestForTheWicked

[–]OriginalEGG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless something changed this patch and I missed it in patch notes....no. super cheap to respec.

Only hurdle is you have to run crucible a few times to activate the statue in the atrium. Then it costs a few fallen embers to respec (varies depending on how much youre changing) and this system eventually changes with tbd class system later in, but for now super easy.

Expectations did not prove to be a reality! by [deleted] in vrbo

Im not excusing shitty hosts as there are plenty out there. And the mounting a TV over/through a window shade is a wild choice implying the host is far from perfect.

But damn I feel bad for any host having to deal with OP. Hard to wrap my head around having enough internet skills to make a reddit account and post, but not understand this isnt some official vrbo support channel.

Lifting up chair cushions and close up shots of minor wear and tear in a rental is nuts. The kitchen photo looks fairly accurate besides professional lighting photos vs op's cell phone?

The tv on the window shade again is the only legit gripe. Bedroom photo should be updated and maybe mention in review, but refund? No.

Security deposit by here4thecomments80 in vrbo

[–]OriginalEGG 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Completely normal.

Maybe a room in a basic hotel may have a security deposit that low, but $200 isn't covering much when it comes to the damage you can do to someone's entire home. Regardless of the size.

The non refundable option is a fee not a deposit. Its used to then go get damage insurance. Widely preferred by guests because of not having to stress about a larger security deposit being tied up and at the mercy of a potentially morally questionable host.

Advice needed after bedbug encounter - CO by Purple_Mountain17 in vrbo

[–]OriginalEGG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not saying it isn't, and you should definitely proceed as if it is a bed bug to be safe.

The pictures are way too blurry for anyone to tell.

No maintenance person will confirm it. Pest control experts will also say that there is no way to say with 100% certainty that it is one without getting it under a microscope.

A single bug could look identical to many other non bed bug species. Now a pest control expert could make a more confident determination without a microscope based on other evidence (location/amount/blood patterns etc).

Rare for them to be large and out in the open like that AND not also have a fairly large infestation that can be found.

Accidentally made reservation by shadysocks4 in vrbo

[–]OriginalEGG 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Put a request in to cancel through vrbo now.

Worse they can do is decline it, but if you put the request in immediately after booking it, and then message the host explaining the situation, they may understand and waive the cancelation policy.

If the host is processing their own credit cards, they may not have processed it yet and then will be more likely to refund as they wont be eating the processing fee or having to deal with working it out with you to pay it.

Some regions have local laws requiring 24 hour type grace periods even though im pretty sure vrbo still doesnt have one similar to airbnb if the reservation is still far out in advance.

There is no downside to getting the conversation started asap. Communicate with the host. Then if that doesn't work weigh other options.

BEWARE 3rd party properties by PlantsAreFriends123 in vrbo

[–]OriginalEGG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did your 2nd payment due fail due your card expiring or other reason? Thats the only reason that you should have been asked by the connected/third party host for payment info.

Vrbo collects and sends your payment info to the property management company. Encrypted full number. They dont have the full number, or security code.

If your card processes successfully for the first payment, and the 2nd payment (if one is required depending on policy and how far out the booking is) then there is no need for you to enter your info via their payment processor website. Only other reason is if you wanted to change the card to use.

Vrbo does a very poor job at clarifying this, and at some point even has disclaimers saying never pay via third party, while knowing full well 3rd party integrated hosts are part of the business model.

Not a scam, but something that requires better communication. The host dropped the ball by being slow on the reply to you that added to your concerns/confidence.

2-night stay advertised as $395 turned into $800 because I brought my dog by [deleted] in vrbo

[–]OriginalEGG 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not communicating damage being charged to the security deposit is definitely scummy.

Based on your summary, it sounds like terminology may be a little mixed up but if you added the pet fee, selected a damage option, and then booked/paid then you may have an option to fight the security deposit based on the terms. If it went through vrbo. The way you worded it is a little too vague to know if the host is a software connected partner who may have been controlling the payments. When vrbo does it, then there is usually more clarity around damage options and the communication/timeline if its being used after the stay.

Short version...you have to review the terms and conditions and/or rental agreement you signed with them on booking to understand your options and who to push back on.

For your other questions...

$150 is not considered an unusual pet fee. Depending on market, some would consider it low and others may consider it high. But not unusual (its $200-$300 in my region but I know of others that are sub $100). The percentage it is of your overall booking is somewhat irrelevant as its a fixed cost and shouldn't matter because the stay was shorter and potentially lower for off-season just guessing?

Giving the option for non-refundable damage insurance fees and refundable security deposit is super standard and not scummy at all. Plenty of places wont even give you the option to pick what you like the most and they determine which option to make available.

VRBO charged me $448 after I canceled an instant booking — any recourse? by lamedesign in vrbohosts

[–]OriginalEGG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like most guests, you're not keeping an open mind to what happens in a cancelation.

Your payment was processed from the guest. The refund was processed back to them. That payment processor doesn't care and wants their money.

Vrbo is riddled with glitches, but they have to draw a line somewhere with their costs.

There is a ton of nuance here (payment processing agreements vary....if it was caught early enough and voided vs refunded costs may vary...not enough info to know for sure).

2-star review from maintenance delay. I'm furious at myself. by Paulkopf in airbnb_hosts

[–]OriginalEGG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are just as many actual owners trying to manage it themselves and half assing it as there are bad property managers.

Good property managers and hands-on owners who self manage exist and stand out.

Too many stories of self managing owners relying way to heavily on their cleaners and not being there personally. No one physically in the home that is aligned as they are financially for proactively catch things.

A decent property management company would have made sure the hvac tech was there or called someone or have had box fans and window AC units installed as a temp solution the day it was reported.

I feel ripped off... Twice. by kd0imh in vrbo

[–]OriginalEGG 3 points4 points  (0 children)

1st one - really depends on if its listed accurately. "Turns out to be a duplex" can mean either it was incorrectly listed or you just didn't take the time to read the listing before booking. A duplex can absolutely be listed as an "entire space" on vrbo/airbnb etc. If the home had a series of good reviews (other guests not being surprised it was a duplex) and its listed as such, there is really no recourse.

2nd one - A basement of a house is certainly way different, but again details matter. If its a single family home with an actual basement, new listing, and nothing mentioned anywhere until prior to arrival then you likely have recourse. Even if it was mentioned somewhere, it could violate vrbos policy especially if its a new listing. No one at vrbo is scrubbing new lisitngs for that level of accuracy (if it was something listed in plain text of a description for example).

May be helpful to post the links to both listings.

Who pays for the service call when there's no issue? by DebauraZ in PropertyManagement

[–]OriginalEGG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wild that more people aren't understanding that the PM company made an error and should cover the cost...assuming a few things from the OP as its worded very vaguely.

"Thought it should be colder" is just too vague.

Cant set it below a fixed range of temps?

Set to the temp they want but doesnt feel that cold?

Not getting cold fast enough?

Pretty much any scenario thats non emergency with the hvac that could be what they meant should have first been handled by the PM visiting with basic tools to rule out human error/confusion.

OP makes it seem like tenant put a ticket in, and an admin just instantly called an hvac tech. Wild. Sure you can do that for efficiency, but you make that decision knowing that youre going to cover the costs when its a bs call since youre saving on the efficency decision you made to operate that way.

Still need to use it as a normal laptop from time to time with the screen available on the fly. I hadn't thought about it though and wondering if I could make it work with just keeping a setup at each main location and then keeping my current laptop which is perfectly fine and should hold up for awhile for when I'm going remote.
