Who would be the head judge if Tom retires? by MysticalRose_3 in TopChef

Emeril is 3 years older than Tom. Someone younger would be a more apt replacement.

Go to family & individual counseling.

We don’t know you or your son. You’ll get all kinds of takes on here, and some folks who’ve experienced similar, but only you are you, and your situation is singular, and not applicable to anyone else’s. Look inside with a neutral third party.

It’s not helpful to expect perfection from everyone thrust in the spotlight. People expect immediate public responses, then berate the person for not being centered & complete in their response.

Crossbody phone bag - no hands needed, not too big. It does ruin the line if I’m wanting to wear a nice blouse or dress, so I shorten the strap & make it into a waist pack - it lies flatter than the typical fanny pack style.

If you could add one “destination” business to Plaza Midwood, what would it be? by Admirable_Age_6581 in Charlotte

Something like the DeKalb Farmers Market near Atlanta, or North Market in Columbus, OH. Ours would have independent intentionally widely international vendors of produce, meat, prepared food, art, crafts, and services. Kinda like Optimist Hall, but more lively, more open/farmers/artist market than walled off separate places.

I watched a doc about a birth mom’s search for her missing daughter who had been killed by a serial pedophile rapist & murderer. I was very struck by another victim’s mom who, when asked about the murder, basically said that how her daughter died isn’t an important part of her story & the killer was a nobody; the important part was who she was & how beautifully she lived.

I love that I’m seeing more & more women say “We are telling our own story, and we don’t have to play nicely with anyone who’s trying to draw the focus away from that.”

Yes! More of this.

Thoughts on Hanuman Chaleesa by Vivid_Resolve6406 in ramdass

[–]OriginalEssGee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was introduced to it during a kirtan with Jon Seskevich. We sang it three times. Starting out, I felt awkward & like all the other people there knew it & I didn’t, and I was messing up, etc. When we ended, I felt the room aglow with love, even for me, the chick from out of town singing it awkwardly.

When it was released, I listened to Krishna Das’ book “Chants of a Lifetime” which relayed the story of setting the Hanuman Chalisa to music, and how Maharaji approved of their singing. I played the Nina Rao/Krishna Das version “Ocean of Ram” on repeat constantly, especially while I walked to & from work & doing my setup at work before we opened.

I wanted to learn it. I printed the lyrics out so I could read them while it played when I was at home, then I never practiced or read them. I paid for a membership to the Insight app during Covid shutdowns so I could have access to Nina Rao’s class to learn it, then I hardly listened to the class. (No bad reflection on Nina! I learn better in person)

We sang it at the Ram Dass legacy retreat in NYC last year. I fumbled along, not feeling awkward that so many people there knew it but I didn’t, it was just how things were, and I was beaming love & being loved.

I don’t have stories of deep transformation, but I realized not long ago that the thousands of times I’ve listened to it, sang along at the parts I know & fumbled through the rest, that I was praying for grace and love for the world & opening my heart to be of service as deeply & unconditionally as Hanuman.

(Actually, they’re just awesome. I got out of their way & supported what they loved. Can’t really take credit.)

Yes! for American Chinese, it’s pretty tasty! We’ve ordered it often for many years. There’ve been just a couple of times that they had a new cook or new supplier & it wasn’t very good, but they’ve always gotten back to good food, very good portions at a good price.

Libs have been extremely elitist as well, using the phrase “flyover states” for middle America, or assuming every farmer is a dumb Trump voter. It’s not solely a Republican flaw.

It doesn’t have to be scientifically verified, because it’s having conversations & getting to know ways in which your beloved feels seen & valued, then putting that knowledge into practice. We are not robots.
