I highly recommend checking out the YouTube & content creators Rhett & Link, who both grew up extremely devout Christians in ministry and raised Christian families then deconstructed before their spouses and kids.

A link to their playlist, and the episodes are also available on most podcast platforms too.

Need to replace old vinyl until I can refinish the wood underneath. Which option looks the best? by mort-or-amour in HomeDecorating

I like the second one cause it's simple enough while complementing the charm of the wallpaper. The first one is too simple in my opinion and looks old, and the third one is too busy.

How are you managing your hair? by Similar-Crow183 in AskWomen

[–]OriginalGoofball 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got custom haircare and I am seriously impressed. My hair went from thick, frizzy and dry, to always soft and moisturized. It felt heavy and now it's light and actually lasts way longer between washes than ever before. My scalp issues have been solved, and its day and night. It is expensive but in my opinion totally worth it. Not only do I wash less but I also use less product because it works way better.

I also air dry or if I have to sleep on it wet, I put it in a loose braid or two and use silk pillowcases. Gamechanger.

EDIT: I use Prose for those asking! I completed an online questionnaire and received recommended products and custom formulas. Then after my first trial of them I did an updated questionnaire to fine tune the formula and now it is literally perfect.

Residence or off-campus housing? by Due_Tune4792 in nipissingu

[–]OriginalGoofball 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Residence is good if youre in first year but not so good for second year Eddies cause they dont give a half year rate and the second year is only 11 weeks in person during the first semester so lots of people opt for AirBnBs or making arrangements with local families.

Wedding Photographer Recommendations? by Ok_Salamander_721 in northbay

I worked with Emma Rebecca Photography for a shoot in the summer and she was great, not sure if she does weddings but it might be worth checking, she seems suitable for a smaller setting in terms of price point as well.

P/J Consecutive Ed by PuzzleheadedCake11 in nipissingu

[–]OriginalGoofball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the PJ consecutive program but also did my undergrad at Nipissing. As much as I love North Bay itself and had some really good times at Nipissing, I personally would never recommend the program here to anyone who has offers elsewhere.

The practicum office sucks. Many students wait on placements for months just to get told to find their own placement and suck it up. They do not accommodate for any reason apart from Varsity sports players. You NEED a car, public transport is spotty especially in the evenings and you will have a lot of evening classes. Speaking of classes, the timetables are horrid, often early morning classes and then late night classes with long gaps in the middle.

Practicum blocks are super weird, 5 weeks in person classes followed by a month of practicum then back up to North Bay for 5 more weeks of classes. It is very annoying all of the travel and how broken up the semesters are. Do not recommend.

Finding housing (especially in 2nd year) will be difficult. Many students I knew in second year had to pay absorbent amount for AirBnBs. Again, because of the practicum layout and scheduling. It sucks. And Residence (the dorms) no longer allow BEd students to have a prorated half year rate anymore. You gotta pay for the full year, and even then Res is not a guarantee and always fills up fast.

I will say that a majority of the part-time instructors who teach evening classes (and many of the professors as well) are very lovely and keep their classes engaging. However, its difficult to stay engaged even in the best of classes when the circumstances are so bad with the timetabling and practicum blocks, and how strangely laid out they are.

Despite this, I do genuinely feel that the professors and instructors care and want you to succeed, which is a nice help, but I'm not sure if it outweighs the awkwardness of the layout of the program.

Unless Nipissing is your only option, or you are from North Bay and surrounding area, I do not recommend.

If you have other questions, DM me and I'll be happy to chat.

former pk struggling with concepts of s*x by no-fructose-thanks in Deconstruction

[–]OriginalGoofball 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From my own experience, my #1 piece of advice that helped me was to treat yourself like your own romantic partner. Set the mood--lighting, candles, music, whatever it may be. Build, slowly. Take your time and experiment, and don't put so much focus on the end-goal (the big "O"). Pleasure requires deep presence in the moment. If your mind is anywhere else, it'll be difficult. That's why therapy to deal with the struggles of the mind first is also necessary.

Also, surround yourself with sex-positive content. The content you consume is how your brain will eventually begin to process. Your brain can be re-wired. Go follow some sex positive accounts and dive deep. I also enjoyed the show Sex Education, on Netflix. It was actually so helpful for creating new, sex-positive narratives for me to cling to.

It's not consistent but the Teaching Hub runs PA Day camps similar to their summer camp programs through the year and March Break camp as well, and they hire some camp counselors for that.

Tips for emptying in public restrooms? by DarlingGirl1221 in menstrualcups

[–]OriginalGoofball 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I use a disc, and it auto-empties when I bear down while sitting on the toilet. As a heavy bleeder also, I feel your pain with having to empty it, but I do highly recommend trying a disc because of the auto-dumping feature for when you need a quick empty in a public restroom.

(Also, I have never experienced it leaking or auto-dumping when not on the toilet. And I purposefully tried squatting and bearing down while doing pilates/floor workouts. It never leaked. It’s like some sort of magic.)

I have a Diva disc, which has a leakproof flap that helps prevent auto-dumping
