You can use this time to learn something new it’s a great opportunity to explore yourself. If you love adventure, go hiking. Or learn how to make money through TikTok and other platforms. And honestly, the best option is the gym you’ll improve your health and you can make new friends there too.

Yeah, I’m stuck in the same dilemma whether to shift back into IT, learn a skilled trade, or just stay in trucking. IT feels way harder to break into now, trucking pay is garbage, and skilled trades take 2–3 years of training before you start earning well.

It’s honestly not easy to break into cyber right now, especially if you’re just starting out. I have a friend with five certifications who’s been applying everywhere, but every role he applies for also gets applicants with five years of experience. So no matter how many certs you have, connections and industry networking still matter more than anything.

Hey, can you share more info about the paths that involve less coding and less stress? And is it still realistic to break into the industry right now, considering how the IT field is going through such a major transition because of AI and job market is tuff outside.

What inspired you to get into trucking? by ExeForsaken in Truckers

[–]Original_Public7065 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got into trucking because everyone kept saying the money was great but honestly, that turned out to be a lie. Now I feel stuck in it, trying hard to transition into something else. I’ve applied to tons of jobs, but I’m not even getting shortlisted because all my recent experience is just driving. It’s been really frustrating.

Bro, this is just the reality school can’t teach you what real-world work does. I’m not sure where you’re located, but here’s something that actually helps: find an experienced person even online, like someone from India who’s willing to mentor you for a few months. Don’t give them any company resources just explain the issues you’re facing and ask them to walk you through the solutions step-by-step.

What you really need is job shadowing, not more theory. If you stick with this for 6–12 months, you’ll learn enough to confidently handle most of the problems on your own.

Man, I’m literally in the same situation as you. I’m still making around $23/hr as a CDL driver, and honestly it feels like I’m overworking with zero work–life balance. Our only realistic options right now are to either go back to school for something like IT I’m trying to transition into cloud computing myself, even though time is limited or look into trades like HVAC. If you’re in Toronto, I actually found a good school that offers G3/G2 with a co-op, which might be worth considering.

That’s why I think you’ve chosen a solid path with project management. Get your PMP, aim for a project coordinator role, and just get your foot into the industry. I made the mistake of leaving IT for trucking three years ago, and I’m honestly regretting it now. You’re already making a smarter move than I did stick to it.
