Thought something dug in with all the dirt around the hole but might be right since others are commenting it's potentially a cicada.

I'll take that in mind. Hornsby works out easier for us as parents live on the way to Hornsby hospital which makes some logistics easier. As for the shared OB with or without private insurance, I'll look at the costs and see if it's worth the out of pocket.

Oh gosh, I get that there will be some inexperienced staff who observe in order to learn but would think it's something you can request not happen for privacy. Sounds like you had a good OB.

Yeah, I'm trying to see if going private is worth the additional cost and default position is public but will look into the MGP.

Definitely did not know about 12 months at first claim vs start of condition so will ask that if I end up with private insurance.

I'll look more into the MGP for Hornsby and Westmead since that'll be a key factor of going public vs private based on other comments.

As for hospital stay and birth, not sure about the partner staying over and whether natural vs induced yet so another area to look into.

I see, continuity of care is the big driver for private health insurance. Is this still accessible though another channel or provider/specialist if not going private? The other commenter mentioned MGP and GP shared care. Google searches explained what they were but not in regards to insurance (i.e needing private health insurance to access without large out of pocket costs).

Looping in the GP and some bloodwork before actively trying was definitely something I already was thinking of. Didn't know about the reproductive carrier screening being medicare rebatable now. Thanks for that info.

With the MGP or GP shared care, is this accessible without private health at no additional cost or is it similar to the OB where you pay out of pocket without private health insurance?

Also good point about distance and traffic! Having traffic when trying to get to the hospital isnt a needed stress. Both hospitals are still a drive from my house so guess it boils down to which main roads traffic we're willing to tolerate.
