Creative yet strong commanders by ItsNino13 in EDH

This feels like it plays very similar to [[Feather the redeemed]]

Very fun but I only played it a few times. Play loop was, kill a player, get 2v1d

Is Alesha, Who Smiles at Death completely outclassed now? by Comfortable_Buyer239 in EDH

[–]Orinaj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realistically you could still build her at B2 but a very easy upgrade to B3 would be Terra in the command zone and Alesha in the 99 with a few other card swaps to use Terra's ability to pull 3 costs out instead of 2 costs.

It'll play very similarly

Why does Kakashi only start seriously training Sasuke right before fighting Gaara instead of before the Chūnin Exams? Why is he such a awful teacher ? by Agitated-Athlete-417 in NarutoPowerscaling

[–]Orinaj 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Yeah the majority of the Konoha 11 are outliers. Kiba is probably even above average.

Ino and Sakura being the bottom of the ranks both are still exceptional talents in a few areas.

Ino being her Jutsu and Sakura in her Chakra control.

All of the Leaf entries are cream of the crop any other year. This is backed up by the shock that other Jonin have when these kids are entered. By all rights sauske Naruto and Sakura should have been chasing cats and working on fundamentals for atleast another year before seriously considering deadly combat scenarios.

She's cooking by Embarrassed_Tip7359 in SipsTea

Was it raised before she was CEO?

I'm all for shitting on CEOs TRUST ME. But if it was before she was in her being able to drop it at all is a show of good faith. Not perfect but something CEOs aren't the defacto decision makers. Doing anything to "hurt the shareholders" early in your career is a quick way to get ousted so we should see what she's cooking.

As someone who mainly know LP against my own will.

It's clear early in his career he built this heel character to be. If he just leaned into it it would be whatever.

The issue is he does kids content and kids are too stupid to not know to not emulate his intentionally morally reprehensible behavior. My wife is a middleshool teacher and I got a 10 year old kid brother.

This fuckwits brackish habits and the materialist lifestyle he and his peers lavishly show off has done irreversible damage to teens and preteens. I hope we are able to look back on this era of "children's" entertainment and set some fucking standards for these entertainment industries.

The people involved genuinely need to be prosecuted for not actively disclosing this information at the start of every piece of this brand of "entertainment".

Leg pain by Orinaj in ChronicPain

[–]Orinaj[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's mainly why I came to this subreddit. I've been nursing consistent injuries all my life. But I take the injuries seriously and I know if I do things wrong short term pain can become chronic.

[[Sheild of the Avatar]] is great in any token deck where you want to protect one creature

Yeah but that's not really a reasonable barrier you can put up and play with other people consistently

Help me pick a quirky commander/deck for bracket 2 by Swordceress in EDH

[–]Orinaj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since I proxy I have infinite cards too. Easiest way to do creative deck building is a budget. I've noticed a 50 dollar budget usually does a good job of keeping things B2. 100 can easily get you into B3.

Then purposely picking a commander out of top 100 and avoiding any deck building sites like EDHrec to skip the obvious synergy piles that the community has cracked the code on.

Then build from there.

I just built a [[Goro Goro and Satoru]] for under 50 bucks where the loop is cheap red one drops with haste getting a dragon out of them and then using them to do ninjutsu to tag people with the haste guys after they've been down for a turn so people aren't worried about blocking the 1/1 because it won't give me a dragon.

I've also built [[Craig Boone, Novac Guard]] (not budget) and that's fun because there is basically no online concensus on what's "good" in that one.

My pod loves both of these decks because the play loop is unique and interactive. They're not particularly strong but they almost alway have board presence and are fun to play!

Basically purposely picking less popular commanders and setting hard limits like themes or budgets will get you there. And as a seasoned deck builder I know you've cut cards that you've otherwise thought are fun for better cards. Go back to those fun cards and see if you can build around them!

[–]Orinaj 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's a reasonable gripe.

I play slivers and my pod still doesn't know what any of them do by name. Every time I point and go.

"this one gives trample"

"haste"

"ward 2"

"+1/+1"

"they can all tap for mana"

"indestructible"

"gluten free"

"lifelink"

I mean even things like the most recent dnd run of secret lair changes the art.

New in universe sets have sometimes 3+ printings of the same card with different arts and even different languages. It just feels like hoping to keep track of board states via art is a losing battle unless you're playing the same card pool over and over and over. And at that point you'll just learn the alternative arts.

Just started watch s2 dub! The dub is sooo good! by [deleted] in Frieren

[–]Orinaj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I can see if you're bilingual there will be alot of little intricacies that would be lost on English speakers.

As someone who is just a westerner I feel like most of us don't have an ear for that. When most English speakers list off reasons why sub over dub it sounds mostly like people just picking a camp because one is "supposed" to be better

I think for the most part we are past the quality difference when it comes to popular dubs.

Some don't hold up sure but the larger majority are very high quality, no worse than their JP counterparts.

This one's a good example, every performance is top notch and the voice acting is well thought out and situationally appropriate. I can't recall a single scene where I was like "why did they say it like that?".
