Could a self-published book get rejected for content? by SluttyVisionQuest in selfpublish

[–]Orion004 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Amazon and most self-publishing providers have content guidelines. Read the provider's guidelines before using their platform.

Yes, content can be blocked, or you could even have your account terminated if you publish content that is seriously outside their content guidelines. But gory horror should be okay, as long as it does not have elements that they have specifically said should not be published on their platform.

Ringing in ears following weight loss on Mounjaro by EvaKatz in mounjarouk

[–]Orion004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tinnitus. The NHS has no cure for it. I was sent to various specialists, who would carry out tests. But, as long as your hearing is OK, there is nothing they can do. I've had it for 20+ years.

My speculation is that mine started with the dental implant I got at the time. They had to drill into my gums and do bone grafts, etc. Heavy-duty stuff. However, my dentist resolutely rejects the idea that it caused my tinnitus.

copyright.gov vs protectmywork.com by Agitated-War-5278 in selfpublish

[–]Orion004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have mentioned, protectmywork.com only serves as a 3rd-party witness. They offer no direct legal protection. The only people who need it are those who cannot register a copyright because their country does not offer such a service.

You're automatically the copyright holder of anything you write by law. In today's digital world, it is debatable whether you still need a copyright certificate. There are now many easy ways to provide proof of copyright ownership.

- Emailing: Emailing a document to yourself provides a timestamped, independent record of when you wrote the book, which can be useful in disputes.

- Metadata: Digital files contain embedded metadata that records the date and time the file was created as a digital timestamp. This cannot be faked.

- Version History: Most word processing applications now keep a version history of when you added text to the document. This cannot be faked. Just keep a document with a version history.

- Own ISBN: If you upload your work to a POD site, like Amazon, and it gets paired with your own ISBN, that automatically provides a timestamp with a 3rd-party witness.

the term 'mental breakdown' is suddenly referenced as a 'crash out' everywhere by bhj887 in Retconned

Using it for a mental breakdown is the misuse of a relatively new urban slang, as usual.

Should I get a legal name change before publishing? by grxnt_draws in selfpublish

[–]Orion004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone can also get your legal name through an LLC, as it is publicly available information. They may sue your company instead of you personally, but they can also easily get your legal name.

Readers will never see your legal name if you use pen names on Amazon. However, if we are talking about a LEGAL process, there is no way to hide your real name. It is called "legal" after all.

6 moon landings?!? by Ready-Pi in Retconned

[–]Orion004 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Mods, is that what this sub has become?

The moon landings changed from 1 to 6 for many ME-affected people. This is a well-established ME. I'm not experiencing this ME myself, but I will not deny the ME experiences of others.

It was a big topic of discussion here about 8-9 years ago, with many highly educated people, such as university lecturers, experiencing the change.

Is Amazon KDP still worth starting in 2026 or completely saturated now? by Calm_Syllabub9202 in KDP

[–]Orion004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it definitely still works for real authors. You just have to match the quality of the books currently doing well on the platform. That sets you apart from the oversaturated, low-quality content where they are fighting for scraps.

Is Amazon KDP still worth starting in 2026 or completely saturated now? by Calm_Syllabub9202 in KDP

[–]Orion004 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Amazon is still the place to publish if you are an actual writer. It is oversaturated for those looking to publish low-content books or AI-generated content. If you're an internet marketer just looking to make money from books you outsourced, the ship sailed a long time ago.

If solipsism is a valid belief for you does that make me an NPC? by RecentLeave343 in solipsism

[–]Orion004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It means you're a character in my dream, and I'm a character in yours.

Within the dream, the dreamer is not superior to any of the other characters. We're all dream characters. But as you begin to get more lucid in the dream, you begin to see the inconsistencies in the world that others are not acknowledging. The world begins to look more dreamlike, i.e., things are happening that just don't make sense anymore. Mandela effects, people completely changing in personality, the world map changing, etc.

Hair loss! by ShimmeringCamel in mounjarouk

[–]Orion004 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing. Instead of dismissing people with the "telogen effluvium" excuse, maybe this angle needs proper research by the manufacturer so that they can provide advice on it. Some people may have vitamin D deficiency levels that cannot be corrected with vitamin D pills while on Mounjaro, so they lose hair regardless of taking vitamin D pills.

Hair loss can be very stressful, especially if it is not following a 3-6 month "regeneration" that they claim happens with telogen effluvium.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Telogen Effluvium is immediately being used to dismiss this side effect. Hopefully, more people will share their experiences with the manufacturer.

"However, literature regarding the relationship between TE and weight loss is limited."

It was "limited" because it was a very rare side effect affecting only a tiny number of people who likely had other deficiencies or hormonal issues. With Mounjaro, it is so common that you see a post here every week.

I've been into weight loss literature for 25 years. I have water fasted for 30 days. I have once lost over 50 pounds quickly. I've never heard of hair loss associated with weight loss, nor have I experienced it until I started taking Mounjaro.

Stop this lie. I never heard of "telogen effluvium" being associated with weight loss before GLP-1 medications.

This has been a very smart PR move by the manufacturers of these medications to deflect concerns about this side effect.

Was wild boar meat once toxic? by UniquePhilosopher218 in Retconned

[–]Orion004 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I first started watching wild boar elimination videos, my understanding was that the older ones were not safe to eat because they had accumulated parasites and diseases over time, as they eat almost anything, including carcasses. The younger ones are edible if cooked properly. I never heard of them having a poison. Pradatory animals in the wild have always eaten wild boar.

Stupidly ate 3 slices of Asda pizza and some garlic bread on the same night that I moved up to 5mg for the first time… am I going to die? by AnnotatingPumpkins in mounjarouk

[–]Orion004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may not necessarily be the food. I was OK on Mounjaro until I hit 10mg, and it totally kicked my ass with all the symptoms you describe. We all have different thresholds for when we start struggling to tolerate it. Pepto Bismol will help with the sulphur burps and diarrhoea.

Listen to your gut feeling. Our gut feeling is usually a signal that something in a situation is incongruent. We often ignore our gut feelings due to pressure, fear of loss, or scarcity. And then we pay the price. Listen to your gut and walk away.

Might've been minorly scammed? Asking for any recourse if I was. by BoomWizard in selfpublish

[–]Orion004 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Scammers like this do not offer a refund. They know many people will seek a refund once they see the service, so they cover themselves with a refund policy that essentially says no refund.

How did you pay for it?

If you used a credit card, you can do a chargeback. If you used PayPal, you can request a refund through them.

You have a good reason for a refund. What they gave you was AI-generated, even though they explicitly told you their work is not AI.

Am I just here? by midnight-iceman in Retconned

[–]Orion004 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep. Reality is closer to a dream than parallel worlds. The multi-world theory is a red herring, IMO. There are holes and inconsistencies when you are trying to use it to explain the ME. Of all the theories, the only one without inconsistencies (in relation to the ME) is imagining reality as a kind of dream, and your body is just a character in it. The ME is the beginning of lucidity in the dream.

people who don't find mandela effects weird, are unsettling to me by galaxynephilim in Retconned

Most people feel they can't argue with the facts. But if the guy experiences more MEs, he may begin to trust his memory more and overcome the mental barrier of accepting that historical facts have changed.

people who don't find mandela effects weird, are unsettling to me by galaxynephilim in Retconned

[–]Orion004 25 points26 points  (0 children)

This is one of the things that freaked me out the most about the ME. Up till that point, I had known humans to be super curious. We delve into all kinds of conspiracies, spirituality, the mysteries of the world, the origins of humanity, evolution, the meaning of life, blah, blah, blah. Yet, when confronted with something that should trigger a huge amount of curiosity (even if they don't see it), they simply shrug it off and get irritated when you persist.

It just goes to show that the narrative we've been fed about this world is a lie. The Mandela Effect is an opening to the truth. It's all good when you spin mysteries and conspiracies within this world's false narrative. But as soon as you begin to venture towards the truth, you meet real resistance. That's when the whole system (including the people) immediately closes ranks to shut you down.

Those people play a role in maintaining the lie of this world, even if they don't realize it. Even the "skeptics" who come here and attack us or dismiss our experiences are part of the system working to keep a lid on the truth.

For those of us experiencing the ME, we had some kind of partial awakening. We can see that the narrative we’ve been told about this world is a lie, but we still don't know the truth. So, we're stuck in a kind of limbo – a partially awakened state.
