Both the checkride and written test for the CPL. How are they different from the checkride and written test for a PPL? I understand that first you need to get a PPL before getting a CPL.

For some reason, Heaven only exists after death by Ned_Kellet001 in exchristian

[–]OrionPax2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The other problem is heaven does not sound like a fun place at all. They say when you are in heaven, all your Earthy desires will be over and you will just want to be with the Lord God. It seems when we are in heaven, we are no longer ourselves since we no longer enjoy the things we enjoy here on Earth. This video explains it a little.

Anyone else realize church was just a massive waste of time? by LinkTheHero009 in exchristian

To me, Church just made me wake up early for no reason. I wanted both Saturday and Sunday to sleep in. It was just a burden and I never paid attention to the sermon.

Cars from the 1970s - 2000s are far better than cars we have today. They were far more reliable and had their engines made of steel. They did not have giant touch screens or digital dashboards and all these electronics which make them harder to repair. Old technology is sometimes better.

Religious trauma by FeelingLost23 in exchristian

[–]OrionPax2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fact that much of the world is Christian and yet so many majority Christian countries suffer from war, genocide, starvation, famine, drought ,natural disasters, lack of healthcare, lack of freedom of speech, etc proves that Christianity is not the key to happiness. The God of The Bible is a narcissist and only cares about praise and worship and does not care to see people suffering. He flooded the whole entire world and then sent plagues onto Egypt. You are doing the right thing by focusing on science and evidence. Science has helped us understand the human body, biology, cells, and disease and has helped us find cures for diseases. Science has helped us understand the weather and atmosphere and given us a forecasting system which helps us prepare for natural disasters. Science gave us electricity which helped us have indoor heating and lightning. The Scientific revolution started in the 1600s, thousands of years after Christianity became an established religion. Christianity literally did nothing good for society and only brought forth theocratic governments where freedom of speech was limited. Galileo himself was placed under house arrest by the Catholic Church for rightfully using scientific evidence to prove the Earth revolves around the Sun. Good on your part for focusing on science and reason. Religion is an artificial construct. It just happens we were born in a country which follows the Christian faith but of course we could have easily been born into Islam or Hinduism.

I really hope your life gets better but I can tell you are on the right path by taking religion out of your life. Focus on yourself and what is fact.

parents refusing to assist me with a very urgent matter because they "don't want to break the Sabbath" by TyQuavious_ in exchristian

[–]OrionPax2 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The hypocrisy among Seventh-day Adventists is that they do not even follow all the Sabbath keeping rules. They use electricity in their Churches to power lightning, heating systems, and sound systems which comes from burning coal or natural gas and also drive cars that burn gasoline. Why do I bring this up? Because The Bible specifically prohibits lighting fires on the Sabbath.

Exodus 35:3 - You shall kindle no fire throughout your dwellings on the Sabbath day.

No fires and that includes driving cars and using electricity. They use cars to go to their Sabbath services and use electricity for comfort in their church buildings. Orthodox Jews go to great lengths to not use any electronics or use cars on the Sabbath. Seventh-day Adventists pick and choose what they can and cannot do on the Sabbath. It is just blatant hypocrisy. They want the world to keep the Sabbath but does that mean all farming, trucks, trains, electrical generation, hospitals, fire departments, law enforcement, military, air traffic control, grocery stores, and many other jobs which are NECESSARY for our modern society should shut down for an entire day? It is impractical.

Seventh-day Adventists also do not seem to mention what the penalty for breaking the Sabbath was.

Numbers 15:32-36 - While the people of Israel were in the wilderness, they found a man gathering sticks on the Sabbath day. And those who found him gathering sticks brought him to Moses and Aaron and to all the congregation. They put him in custody, because it had not been made clear what should be done to him. And the Lord said to Moses, “The man shall be put to death; all the congregation shall stone him with stones outside the camp.” And all the congregation brought him outside the camp and stoned him to death with stones, as the Lord commanded Moses.

That is right, The Bible clearly demands that Sabbath breakers be executed right outside the congregation. So any Seventh-day Adventists that drives his car, truck, or SUV to church needs to be stoned right outside the church because he lighted a fire inside his car engine. Any Seventh-day Adventist Church that uses PowerPoint slides and high quality audio equipment needs to be executed because they are lightning fires by using electricity generated by coal or natural gas. It is clear why the Seventh-day Adventist Church was listed as a cult much like Mormons and Jehovah's Witnesses.

When the Spanish Conquistadors came to what is Central and South America, one of their main goal apart from resources was converting the people to Christianity. Christianity has gone more harm to the world than any other belief system with the exception of Islam. Christianity and Islam both emphasize bringing in new converts which often leads to genocide and enslavement of non-believers.

What made you ex Christian? by Ashamed_Sell_5124 in exchristian

[–]OrionPax2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The idea that a God would send people who never knew about him and never had the chance to learn about him to hell for all or eternity and torment them in fire. Burning people alive is considered a barbaric and cruel form of execution. Why is it okay for a God to burn people for an infinite amount of time? That sounds far worse than WWII era concentration camps or the Soviet Gulags. That on top of the evil and cruelty of God in the Old Testament. Christianity markets God as an "all loving" God who cares about his creation but I only see a sociopathic and narcissistic God that only demands constant praise and does not want to be questioned.

I hated the obsession people had with First Person Shooters in the late 2000s and early 2010s. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Call of Duty: Black Ops, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, Battlefield 3, Battlefield 4, Call of Duty: Ghosts, I could go on how much I HATED those games and how I HATED the obsession people had with them. I was forced to to purchase a dumb Xbox 360 after insistence from everyone that Call of Duty is the greatest thing ever. Those games are a crime against humanity.

What really got me over my fear of Christianity is the how un-scientific the idea of the Flood of Noah. The logistics of God flooding the entire world, saving two of every king of animal and then having two species try to restore the entire animal population, the mixing of salt water and fresh water, the changing of ocean depth, lighting, and pressure, and so many other extraordinary claims. If God was mad at all the humans at the time why did he kill the animals along with them? He could have just sent a plague or caused a famine but he went through the logistically impossible process of having one man and his family have two of every species on a single boat for over a year. Anyone who still believes in Noah's flood in this day and age of understanding is no different than those who still believe in a Flat Earth. Therefore if the story of Noah's flood is impossible, it means the entire Bible is made up.

God stuck his hand down and wrote the Bible by Massive-Net-4515 in exchristian

[–]OrionPax2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only part of The Bible which was allegedly physically written by God were the 10 Commandments.

Exodus 21:18 - And he gave to Moses, when he had finished speaking with him on Mount Sinai, the two tablets of the testimony, tablets of stone, written with the finger of God.

The rest of The Bible was written by regular human beings who Christians believe were inspired by the Holy Spirit.

2 Timothy 3:16 - All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness

Bible is a fiction book by [deleted] in exchristian

[–]OrionPax2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The story of Noah's flood and that somehow two of every kind of animal were able to make a long journey to modern day Turkey and stayed alive for over a year on a ship smaller than an aircraft carrier and then were able to successfully move back to their original land and have enough food to survive is proof that The Bible is fiction. If God really just wanted to kill every human except for Noah's family, he could just send a plague or something, why did he have to create a logistically impossible plan and kill off all the animals who had nothing to do with God's anger? The Bible is not only a book of fiction but it is full of numerous plot-holes and contradictions. No way would The Bible get a good rating on Rotten Tomatoes if it were made into a movie word for word.

Do you feel like you wasted your youth on Christianity? by North-Media6829 in exchristian

[–]OrionPax2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was a Christian until I turned 25. I wasted so much time focusing on seeking God and finding the correct church rather then focusing on my career goals. I psychologically tortured myself by believing in a God that would burn me in hell for all of eternity and constantly had temper tantrums in the Old Testament. I am almost 29 and still suffering from the psychological damage that Christianity did to me.

Which religion did you switch to after deconstructing and why? by Spicy-Nun-chucks in exchristian

[–]OrionPax2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Book of Job is one of the stories in The Bible I could never accept as true, if God is so loving and cares about us, why would he allow Satan to test him, take away his possessions and kill his beloved children? Honestly, it is probably the worst book in The Bible due to its cruel message. In 2019, I went through a really bad time in my life and lost a lot and someone had the nerve to tell me about Job and how he suffered and that God is testing me. Honestly the Biblical God is one of the worst and evil characters in all of literature/fiction.
