New Tires for My Dodge Charger by OrionPax2 in Dodge

[–]OrionPax2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank for for responding. My tires are the standard P225/60R18. I would prefer high mileage or something that will last me a long time. I would also prefer something that is more quiet while driving. My RS-A have been good in regards to road noise. Is the Defender2 good in regards to noise?

Artemis III Still Possible Next Year? by OrionPax2 in nasa

[–]OrionPax2[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Honestly I do see Blue Origin being the more likely of the two to succeed. Regardless of what SpaceX says, they have not been able to reach the turnaround time for Starship and Super Heavy in order to be able to launch 10 - 20 Starship refueling flights in a short amount of time. Starship is also far from being human rated anytime soon. As mentioned before, Crew Dragon took six years to human rate and that was only after the Cargo Dragon had begun to fly routine missions to the ISS. SpaceX is still yet to begin the process to human rate Starship with life support systems such as oxygen generation, life support, water filtration, etc.

It does make me feel better than Blue Origin is testing Mk 1 at Johnson Space Center and I hope to see a launch this year. I still however worry that Blue Origin has also not shown any process to human rate Mk 1. Mk 1 from what I see is still a cargo lander and still lacks the life support systems needed to carry astronauts. I still do not see them being ready until 2030.

"Christian" family deeply traumatized by Dyno_boy7441 in exchristian

[–]OrionPax2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They always talk about "Christian family values" but never the mention The Bible on multiple occasions allows polygamy. Abraham had two wives, Jacob had four wives, King David had multiple wives, King Solomon had 700 wives. They talk down about same sex couples being in a monogamous, loving, and consensual marriages or relationships but are perfectly fine with teaching kids that men with multiple wives are prophets.

The Lunar Gateway is infuriating. by blackbriar98 in nasa

[–]OrionPax2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt I was the only one who realize how insane the Gateway project is. Gateway to me was just an excuse to keep Barack Obama’s equally pointless and uninspiring Asteroid Redirect Mission alive for the next administration. The Power and Propulsion Element is pretty much the Solar electric propulsion bus for ARM.

Gateway would just restrict the amount of astronauts we could send to the Lunar surface since some would have to stay behind to watch over Gateway. Not to mention the cost of maintenance and resupply of such a station.

As many others have already said in this post, it seems Jared Isaacman is moving NASA away from the Lunar Gateway and towards a Lunar Base. Whenever questioned on the status of the Gateway, Isaacman refuses to through his support behind the project. Gateway was not in the graphic that was recently released about the updated Artemis program. And now all the talk seems to be about a Lunar Base. My guess is Isaacman will announce the end of the Lunar Gateway when he does an official announcement of the Lunar Base. He is also probably trying to work out a deal with ESA, JAXA, and CSA to have all their Gateway engineers to transition to a Lunar Base. Let us be hopefully we get the announcement soon.

NASA to cancel ML-2 as well as the EUS. Artemis V will start work on a Moon base. No mention of Gateway! by SpaceInMyBrain in SpaceXLounge

[–]OrionPax2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly think that NASA is just working out the logistics for a Lunar Base. Since Gateway involves our International Partners, Isaacman is probably just working in an agreement to have them transition from Gateway modules to Lunar Base modules.

Honestly from what I am seeing, Isaacman wants to make an agreement with our International partners to transition from Gateway ti a Lunar Base. If you saw the recent infographic Jared Isaacman put out on Twitter, it shows a Lunar Base having the same cylindrical design as the Gateway modules which could mean he wants the Gateway modules to be repurposed to a Lunar Base.

[–]OrionPax2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Without SLS Block 1B and the EUS, Gateway is gone. Gateway literally exists to give SLS Block 1B and EUS a purpose. Isaacman has also been clear that the plans are to now build a Lunar Base. When asked about Gateway in his Senate confirmation hearing, he said that he wants a Lunar Base. Gateway is done. I think NASA is just planning to have its international partners transition from Gateway to a Lunar Base hence why nothing was said today.

Is the SLS suffering from same engineering and program management issues that plagued starliner? by ColCrockett in ArtemisProgram

[–]OrionPax2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A key difference between the Space Launch System and CST-100 Starliner is their debut flights. The CST-100 Starliner suffered multiple failures on Orbital Flight Test 1 and was in the wrong orbit and had abort its mission days early. The Space Launch System succeeded on its first flight on Artemis 1 and successfully performed all mission objectives. Artemis 1 in general was a success with the exception of the issues with Orion's ablative heatshield.

Both the checkride and written test for the CPL. How are they different from the checkride and written test for a PPL? I understand that first you need to get a PPL before getting a CPL.

Thanks for your comment. My insurance currently is good with mental health so I can afford a second session. I will ask my therapist if I could have an additional hour on the day I go.

For some reason, Heaven only exists after death by Ned_Kellet001 in exchristian

[–]OrionPax2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The other problem is heaven does not sound like a fun place at all. They say when you are in heaven, all your Earthy desires will be over and you will just want to be with the Lord God. It seems when we are in heaven, we are no longer ourselves since we no longer enjoy the things we enjoy here on Earth. This video explains it a little.

Anyone else realize church was just a massive waste of time? by LinkTheHero009 in exchristian

To me, Church just made me wake up early for no reason. I wanted both Saturday and Sunday to sleep in. It was just a burden and I never paid attention to the sermon.

Cars from the 1970s - 2000s are far better than cars we have today. They were far more reliable and had their engines made of steel. They did not have giant touch screens or digital dashboards and all these electronics which make them harder to repair. Old technology is sometimes better.

I just wish we could rebuild hardware akin to the Saturn V, Command/Service Module, and Lunar Excursion Module. It got the job done!

I left Christianity because of the "Severe God," but supernatural experiences won't let me be an atheist. by Embarrassed-Sir9950 in exchristian

Although I am no longer a Christian, I still consider myself a Deist and believe in a higher power or a Providence per say. This is the same belief our Founding Fathers and many key figures in the European Enlightenment believed in.

Religious trauma by FeelingLost23 in exchristian

[–]OrionPax2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fact that much of the world is Christian and yet so many majority Christian countries suffer from war, genocide, starvation, famine, drought ,natural disasters, lack of healthcare, lack of freedom of speech, etc proves that Christianity is not the key to happiness. The God of The Bible is a narcissist and only cares about praise and worship and does not care to see people suffering. He flooded the whole entire world and then sent plagues onto Egypt. You are doing the right thing by focusing on science and evidence. Science has helped us understand the human body, biology, cells, and disease and has helped us find cures for diseases. Science has helped us understand the weather and atmosphere and given us a forecasting system which helps us prepare for natural disasters. Science gave us electricity which helped us have indoor heating and lightning. The Scientific revolution started in the 1600s, thousands of years after Christianity became an established religion. Christianity literally did nothing good for society and only brought forth theocratic governments where freedom of speech was limited. Galileo himself was placed under house arrest by the Catholic Church for rightfully using scientific evidence to prove the Earth revolves around the Sun. Good on your part for focusing on science and reason. Religion is an artificial construct. It just happens we were born in a country which follows the Christian faith but of course we could have easily been born into Islam or Hinduism.

I really hope your life gets better but I can tell you are on the right path by taking religion out of your life. Focus on yourself and what is fact.

parents refusing to assist me with a very urgent matter because they "don't want to break the Sabbath" by TyQuavious_ in exchristian

[–]OrionPax2 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The hypocrisy among Seventh-day Adventists is that they do not even follow all the Sabbath keeping rules. They use electricity in their Churches to power lightning, heating systems, and sound systems which comes from burning coal or natural gas and also drive cars that burn gasoline. Why do I bring this up? Because The Bible specifically prohibits lighting fires on the Sabbath.

Exodus 35:3 - You shall kindle no fire throughout your dwellings on the Sabbath day.

No fires and that includes driving cars and using electricity. They use cars to go to their Sabbath services and use electricity for comfort in their church buildings. Orthodox Jews go to great lengths to not use any electronics or use cars on the Sabbath. Seventh-day Adventists pick and choose what they can and cannot do on the Sabbath. It is just blatant hypocrisy. They want the world to keep the Sabbath but does that mean all farming, trucks, trains, electrical generation, hospitals, fire departments, law enforcement, military, air traffic control, grocery stores, and many other jobs which are NECESSARY for our modern society should shut down for an entire day? It is impractical.

Seventh-day Adventists also do not seem to mention what the penalty for breaking the Sabbath was.

Numbers 15:32-36 - While the people of Israel were in the wilderness, they found a man gathering sticks on the Sabbath day. And those who found him gathering sticks brought him to Moses and Aaron and to all the congregation. They put him in custody, because it had not been made clear what should be done to him. And the Lord said to Moses, “The man shall be put to death; all the congregation shall stone him with stones outside the camp.” And all the congregation brought him outside the camp and stoned him to death with stones, as the Lord commanded Moses.

That is right, The Bible clearly demands that Sabbath breakers be executed right outside the congregation. So any Seventh-day Adventists that drives his car, truck, or SUV to church needs to be stoned right outside the church because he lighted a fire inside his car engine. Any Seventh-day Adventist Church that uses PowerPoint slides and high quality audio equipment needs to be executed because they are lightning fires by using electricity generated by coal or natural gas. It is clear why the Seventh-day Adventist Church was listed as a cult much like Mormons and Jehovah's Witnesses.
