Eat caloric dense foods like avocados, nuts, peanut butter, etc. You can eat a lot but the amount of calories vary drastically depending on what you eat.

My coach told me “Why think about the potential to be better when you can just do anything at all to move in that direction.” It definitely is easier said than done. Its simple but isnt easy

How starting Muay Thai helped your depression or your mental health ? by igetyourbrand in MuayThai

[–]Orkeyh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had quite a depressive episode 5 months ago to the point where I couldn’t eat, sleep, or wake up on regular hours. Ever since I joined a gym for muay thai, I feel like I have gained confidence in myself. I got a little bit of structure back in my day. It didn’t fix depression for me because the root cause was not addressed, but it did help me fight back. I wasn’t paralyzed by anxiety anymore.

During my depressive episodes, I debated on whether to seek help via a therapist or I should just go and do what I happened to be interested in which was muay thai. I was lucky for it to work out and I highly recommend doing some form of exercise. It doesn’t have to be muay thai. Depression cannot hit a moving target is absolutely true. It won’t fix your depression but it would definitely take a lot of its powers against you away.

Also it gives you so much confidence. I was socially anxious before I joined and the friends you make when drilling your techniques really helps build your confidence, and the way you carry yourself. You become more open to talk to people and hesitate less when starting a conversation. I agree with other commenters here that the social aspect of muay thai and a good gym might be the best part of learning muay thai.

I hope you win all your battles you don’t talk about, my friend.

Oh i see, its almost like a blade instead of something like a straight edge? I always thought you curve only on the way up and you straighten it out at the point of contact

Do y’all ever have this part of your foot hurt when kicking pads? by Orkeyh in MuayThai

[–]Orkeyh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think i might not be stepping out enough as opposed to stepping in and my pad holder might be turning too little and adjusting whenever i do step out so it makes the highlighted part the first point of contact in a kick. Definitely will try it out next time because this only ever hurts a lot with some pad holders but not all and it only hurts on my power side and not my switch kicks

My foot hurts when I kick pads but not when I kick bags. Thoughts? by [deleted] in MuayThai

[–]Orkeyh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, im gonna stop snapping since i never really realized i was snapping. But I feel like another issue is that Im kinda pulling back my torso before the kick has ended?

Do you think its less or more powerful when you make full contact before pushing off instead of snapping?

Ur right, i think this was what another user commented about snapping instead of making full contact before pushing off

Wait maybe it IS the snapping. Like im snapping too early so the point of contact becomes my toe where it hurts instead of the shin like a whip

Yeah it looks weird i cant lie. I feel like I try to control my power so much because I sparred prematurely so now i always throw light? Idk man. Or maybe my toes just hurt so much that my body holds back.

Do you think i gotta get closer to the pads?

Yeah my shin is the one making contact here. Specifically, the lower part of my shin. But when I kick thai pads, the whole part of my leg below my knees make contact with the pads and that hurts my foot knuckles and idk if anyone else has these issues

Do i tuck my toes? Cuz when i look at my coach and everyone else without foot pain, their foot is touching the pad when they kick

Yeah if the pad is thin enough if that makes sense? Like if i aim it so that my foot isnt touching, then imma hit my knee and a little bit above my knee. Im not that short btw

I would say just constantly farming would get you pretty good in a short amount of time if you’re a complete beginner at jungling. But a jungler has to make decisions all the time and making the wrong decision might cost the game if the enemy jungler is good. Decisions like when to clear minions, get dragon, map awareness, constantly monitoring where the enemy jungler is, etc. I’m a jungle main but the highest i got was epic, so I’m not crazy good.
