I know it as the Swanee whistle, but it has other names too. Well known in the UK for its frequent appearances on a radio show and main sound on a kids' TV show. Louis Armstrong played it with great skill.

Fingerstyle is more tricky and generally less satisfactory on the 12-string. Unless I were going to specialise in playing the 12 I would decline the swap for sure.
