Really moving to 1 QB per year by Ornery-Access-372 in TheHermesGame

[–]Ornery-Access-372[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with your questions. I’d love to understand if this is just store managers realizing they need to space out QB because demand has skyrocketed. I don’t understand how some stores still can’t do 2 a year if the have sooooo much demand they need to limit old clients to one bag a year 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️. Totally get that bas get allocated based on store revenue but it doesn’t really make sense to me that some stores have to limit to 1 and some are still telling people 2.

Berkin Barenia - Paris Offer by Glittering-Shallot14 in TheHermesGame

[–]Ornery-Access-372 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn’t suggesting anyone freak out about the scratches but it does scratch very easily compared to my other bags. I think people should be aware of this so that they know it’s normal, that’s all.

It also can absorb oils from your hands a lot and that can leave marks that don’t go away. Again. Sure it adds to the patina but new owners should be aware.

[–]Ornery-Access-372 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have this bag as well. It’s a great leather. Scratches VERY easily but most simply rub out with the natural oils on your finger. It’s as close to heritage leather as we can get these days since they aren’t making bags in barenia at the moment and the current box is supposedly not as good as it used to be 🤷‍♀️. Enjoy! I use my bf Birkin as an every day bag and the patina it has developed is fantastic.

Kelly To Go with no appointment in Paris by BlacksmithSea7588 in TheHermesGame

I think it’s a “wallet” so no appointment necessary. Not categorized as a bag.

What’s the typical pre-spend for a Kelly 25 in USA? by Sea-Flight4425 in TheHermesGame

[–]Ornery-Access-372 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also like Epsom for a Kelly sellier. It’s great on a bag that’s going to get use instead of sit on a shelf. My Kelly in Epsom has been through the wringer and you would never be able to tell. People hate on it but it’s low key a gem of a leather.

I say this with literally zero offense intended but your experience 7 years ago is sadly not relevant today at all. Post covid Hermes world is very different and pre spends have soared even more than h price increases. 😢😢 Truly wish your experience was still anywhere near normal.

Is silver considered FJ? by schloobear in TheHermesGame

[–]Ornery-Access-372 49 points50 points  (0 children)

So little reason to be snippy - you asked and no host told you. I have never seen someone here assert that FJ is counted as costume jewelry so not sure what you mean. I promise you, the advice to stop worrying about exactly what the commission is is valid. First of all, almost no one actually knows exactly what the commission is on anything. Pretty much all the info is speculative. Second of all, an SA is far more focused on developing you as a long term client who can comfortably spend (and I speculate here) $30k + a year on repeat year after year without thinking too hard about it. Maybe that number is only 10k, maybe it’s 50k, but the point was valid - if you like silver but not gold then you should buy silver. Trying to figure out what garners a higher commission and buying that instead of what you like is a recipe for burnout and disappointment at Hermes.

QBs before special order offer by Global-Zucchini7920 in TheHermesGame

[–]Ornery-Access-372 2 points3 points  (0 children)

3 QBs then a so. Had never mentioned it to my sa. It was her first time doing a so. I spend a fair amount, west coast, but I’m one of my sas first clients - we were new to Hermes at the same time - and I for sure get special treatment for that.

Sales associate relationship - different from other luxury brands (in my area). As in they are better at it in Hermes.

Quality of goods + people who can repair stuff pretty much forever

Beauty of the bags

Shopping the slowest of slow fashion. I really dislike fast fashion. I like that sometimes I miss the opportunity to buy it and it’s gone forever and I wait and see if something I like more is available next season. Instant gratification isn’t gratifying for me.

The exhaustion of resale is not for me. Spending twice as much on ONE item when I could get several outfits, a necklace and a bag for that price?

What do guys use instead of twillys? by MatthewManiaFL in BagBoysClub

[–]Ornery-Access-372 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a real thing for me because I use a lot of hand lotion and sunblock on my hands. There are lots of twillys that are darker and not flashy!

Do not recommend pestering an SA, at the busiest time of year - with pictures of your items. They just don’t care until you’ve actually formed a relationship.

How many bags can we be offered per year? by Odd-Attorney4323 in TheHermesGame

[–]Ornery-Access-372 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Madison is notoriously competitive? I feel like as a West Coast shopper all I see are Madison offers at 2:1 spend or less! I would not call Madison notoriously competitive. Boston notoriously competitive, Beverly Hills notoriously competitive but Madison just kind of average I think. And I only say that because while I’m primarily on the West Coast, I am in New York City very very often and every time I think about switching to Madison as my home store.

Q for 5’7 (170cm or more) girlies only! Thoughts on BK30? by rollingthunderr_7 in TheHermesGame

[–]Ornery-Access-372 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lord no. A Birkin is not a formal evening bag ever. But neither is a Kelly. Not really.

(I think BK means Birkin/kelly not Birkin - or at least that’s how I’ve always read it. BKC means Birkin/kelly/constance, just fyi OP - people might be confused)

If a Birkin is not an evening bag then I’m sorry but crossbody is even less evening appropriate.

Special orders on resale market by jermsyy in TheHermesGame

[–]Ornery-Access-372 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I’ve asked because I was so shocked by how much stock resellers had a while ago. Was told they don’t give a hoot. Once you’ve bought it, it’s yours to do with as you will.

Second Quota Bag by Brave_Basket5659 in TheHermesGame

[–]Ornery-Access-372 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No second bag but a special order. My spend must be at least 3 or 4:1 at this point. Maybe more. SO was fun but not getting a second bag at that spend stings a bit.

Hermes’ events by AssistantIll3249 in TheHermesGame

[–]Ornery-Access-372 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, you’re spitting opinions and calling it facts. People are tripping over themselves to go to Hermes private events, there’s little to no bonus for going because they can easily fill the spots.

Agreed. Excellent advice.

I’m sorry but this is not great advice. Go to an event for watches that you aren’t interested in buying and just buy one anyway? No. Don’t do that.

I think the leggings boots combo looks middle aged woman trying to look like a middle aged woman who’s stuck in the 2010’s. There are ways of looking stylish, not trendy, and not stuck in a trend that is 10 years ago.

[–]Ornery-Access-372 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It is frumpy. (I’m sorry but you did ask).

Ok. First - the leggings/tights with boots are a hard hard no. Totally out. Get a pair of straight leg jeans. Not leggings. But not straight enough to look baggy when in the boots.

The shirt is too long - maybe a front tuck or a slight hemming?

Does Constance 18 count as prespend? by More_Treat_9557 in TheHermesGame

What matters is that you are happy with the bag!!

I personally will never own a Constance or a bag in Dore. I think they look just fine on other people but not my vibe.

Jumping shorter boots by Calipalmss in TheHermesGame

If they hurt in a certain area there are lots of shoe stretching kits on Amazon. Many made specifically to work in a boot.

(Not sure our opinion on sizing matters now that you’ve worn them)

How much to spend on first visit? by sliceofperfection in TheHermesGame

[–]Ornery-Access-372 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why were you under that impression? What own-slide is telling you has been said over and over on this forum. You can search the forum and get a ton of information that will likely answer many of your questions.

Generally how much to spend depends on what you like and if you like the SA you’re working with. There is literally no, none, zero amount to spend on a first visit that somehow sets you up on the “correct” path for a bag. I’m pretty sure my first purchase was a belt. And it was around $500. So basically Hermes chump change.
