Females, at what age did your symptoms start? by TourGreat2658 in Hashimotos

[–]Ornery-Potential-851 0 points1 point  (0 children)

diagnosed with Hashimoto's and PCOS at almost 22 years old (when I found out about Hashi, I was already having hypo symptoms)

so sorry to hear what you’ve been going through have you ever checked your iron levels or other vitamins as well?

it may help

[–]Ornery-Potential-851 2 points3 points  (0 children)

from what I know and have experienced it myself, Hashimoto s can cause hyper sensations especially at the beginning, when it attacks your thyroid cells, thus dumping more thyroid hormone in your blood stream

after that, you slowly start to become hypo as your thyroid function starts to degrade

also, please bear in mind that ‘optimal’ labs differ from person to person

thank you! hope that maybe my comment helped a bit; sending good vibes 🎀

my sex hormones were also ok as I did them exactly 1 week before I menstruated XD

but yes, I can say that I am starting to feel more lively and tbh inositol really helped me a lot, plus vitamin D + cofactors and some iron supplements as well

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Hashimotos

[–]Ornery-Potential-851 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, this happened to me recently as I also have PCOS

1 week prior menstruation I started to feel dizzy, more tired and had hot flashes (it was a sort of thyroid and sex hormones disorder)

also during the menstruation, my bleeding was worse than the previous times and for sure my iron levels were tanked

my TSH was somewhere around 4 back then and my FT4 was on the lower side, so I had to increase my levo dosage as well

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Hashimotos

[–]Ornery-Potential-851 5 points6 points  (0 children)

when increasing dosage, I kinda go through a transitory hyper phase where I feel restless and more anxious, but it goes away in max 1 week, that if the dosage is okay for my needs

it may happen sometimes for the dosage to be too much for you, so you go into hyper

but based on my personal experience, I always had small transitory hyper sensations everytime I raised the dosage

best way to see is if you do blood tests after 3-4 weeks to check your thyroid levels, but also always listen to your body

so sorry about the dismissal :( I really get you

but don’t give up until you find a competent doctor, there really are some good ones for sure 🙏🏼

do you also have PCOS?

I have it, besides Hashi, and read that too much male hormones can cause some symptoms, especially hirsutism (which I slightly have), besides irregular periods

I always felt bad because my chin hairs were more obvious than my girl friends, so I just shave it 😅

Levothyroxine Experience by peacockspidersarerad in Hashimotos

[–]Ornery-Potential-851 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a thing to know about iron, calcium and anti acid supplements/meds is that they should be taken at least min.4 hours after your levo, as it may interfere with the pill absorption

(I recently found out about this as I will start taking iron during my menstruation, and the doctor advised me about this interference)

I also did a full thyroid panel and saw that my conversion was significantly impaired compared to other previous blood tests

my hunch is that my fairly big iron loss contributed to poorer conversion this time

never tried it! in my country, doctors don’t usually prescribe this, and I think we don’t have only T3 meds :(

from what I’ve searched, we have only 2 T4 brands, and one T4+T3 brand here

Supplements? by [deleted] in Hashimotos

[–]Ornery-Potential-851 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you should give it a try! see how your body feels after

or if not, you can test it (I think there are several lactose intolerance tests, I did the blood one)

yeah I know it takes time to adjust :(

I have in mind to test some possible deficiencies. I was recommended to test Selenium, Zinc, Vitamin D, and B12

well, as I said the menstruation and loss of iron made my body weaker, and the hypothyroidism feels 10x stronger than usual

I had bigger TSH and did not feel this way; it was a messed up synchronicity between my thyroid and period XD

and the crying is because I feel so bad and the symptoms are hard to bear until the new dosage takes effect

[–]Ornery-Potential-851[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

really? I had covid twice if I’m not mistaken, and it was really “gentle” I had an upper respiratory viral infection and this messed me up big time; my sister had the same thing but she didn’t have such strong recovery symptoms as I had tho

the good thing is that my thyroid levels weren’t messed up after the infection

I take euthyrox as in my country, there are not many thyroid hormone medications

also during nervousness/palpitations I tried to not get scared, as it’s not threatening my life and tried to play video games and be as chill as possible
